Job For Money Scandal: Group Petitions EFCC To Probe NATFORCE Directors In S/W

A group, South West Contact Forum, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the alleged fraud that pervaded the recruitment exercise of unemployed youths into the National Task Force (NATFORCE).

In a petition to the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde signed by the group coordinator, Memuni Ahmed and secretary, Fatukasi Olajide, the group urged the

EFCC to beam its searchlight into the fraudulent act of some self acclaimed states directors of the National Task Force.

It alleged that the state directors have duped many desperate and unsuspecting unemployed youths in Ondo, Ekiti, Osun and Oyo States.

According to the group, it was revealed that each state were to sell form for two hundred applicants at rate of N2,500.

The group said it further learnt that those names (applicants) were to remain on the pending list till the NATFORCE is duly established under the necessary act by the law.

It said "But, some unscrupulous individuals have taken to these states, selling forms to over 8,000 applicants".

" In Ondo State alone, over eight thousand forms were sold to unsuspecting unemployed youths, while some paid N5,000, others paid between N10,000 to N15,000".

The group noted that even after security agents have tried to stop the illegal activities of these directors and disrupt their fake recruitment examination at St.

Louis in Akure, the directors still went ahead and collected as much as N25,000 each from some other applicants for recruitment training.

"Thanks to the combined team of the men of Nigeria Army, Police and civil Defence in Kwara State who stormed the training ground and disrupt their illegal activities," the group said.

It however said it is rather unfortunate today that after duping innocent jobless youths, these people are now living large through their ill gotten wealth.

The group said "They have enriched themselves at the expense of the jobless youths who are only desperate to get a means of livelihood".

"In Ondo State, the self acclaimed director, Mr. Clement Iwaloye is now a proud owner of exotic cars and landed properties worth millions of naira".

"Other self acclaimed directors include, Adebisi Babalola in Ekiti, Mr Folowosile in Osun and Mr. Olu Adanri in Oyo State".

"Messrs Clement Iwaloye and Adebisi Babalola of Ondo and Ekiti States respectively are publicly exhibiting their ill gotten wealth without even pitying the poor applicants".

They alleged that its findings revealed that these people did not make less than N2.8 to N3m naira each.

The group wonders if it is possible for an agency which is not yet established by any law, and that which its bill has not even gotten to the final reading to start parading itself with customize jacket of the NATFORCE and commence recruitment.

It urged the EFCC to help probe the alleged daylight extortion and stealing by the directors.

The group noted that it will be unfortunate and sad if the numerous unsuspecting jobless youths are made to be duped and the perpetrators go scot free.
