Daily Trust JUST-IN: Former ASUU president, Festus Iyayi, dies The former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) Dr. Festus Iyayi, died today in an auto crash on his way to Kano to participate in tomorrow’s National Executive Council meeting of union. Iyayi was the ASUU president in 1986 until when the union was briefly banned in 1989 while he was detained. That year also, he won the Commonwealth Prize for Literature for his book titled: 'Heroes'.
