Gov. Obi Commences Developmental Interventions in Tertiary Institutions
* Present N.2B Naira to St. Paul’s and Madonna Universities

Few weeks after Gov. Peter Obi affected the change of name of the Anambra State University for Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu and gave them the cheque of N5b for the infrastructural development of the school, he has started the tour of universities in the State, both Government and privately-owned to offer them the support from the State Government. Speaking yesterday at St Paul’s University and Madonna University at Awka and Okija respectively, the Gov. said the intervention was necessary because those institutions were in Anambra State and train the children of the State.

At both universities, Governor Peter Obi presented cheques of one hundred million each to both of them, as well as one buses and I security vehicles to them.

Governor Obi used the visit to inspect various structures, equipment and facilities at the universities’ premises. He said the support to the institutions, which will get to others, was in line with the comprehensive education programme of his administration geared towards turning around all schools and institutions, irrespective of ownership for functional and qualitative knowledge.

The Governor charged the students to aspire to be good and worthy ambassadors by working heard to equip themselves properly to attain full potential in life, assuring that the State Government would continue to assist the universities to tackle their various challenges.

At St Paul’s University, the Archbishop, Province on the Niger and Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Most Reverend Christian Efobi while thanking the Governor for the gesture, assured that the church would continue to pray for his administration to complete its vision for the state.

Earlier the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Gaius Igboeli who presented the Governor with a plaque disclosed that the University was grappling with challenges of accreditation and thanked the Governor for his intervention.

At Madonna University, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chuks Ezedum, who thanked the Governor for his numerous achievements in the State that marked him out from other Governors, commended him for the visit and appealed to the Governor to reconstruct the access road to the University.

Please Mr. Governor not everyone from your state is a christian or Muslim. Some don't even subscribe to any religion. Stop pushing the state towards some form of theocracy. Next you will enthrone Canon law before leaving office. The services from the state should not be entrusted to any particular religious order. We are a secular democracy until the constitution says otherwise.

So far as the schools are within the Anambra state borders and Anambra students studies there then Obi is on the right track. Obi has done so to even private hospitals and private schools and colleges in the state to achieve the overall MDG program ahead of other states of the federation. This is why some folks does not understand what development is about.

Why spent such amount on Madonna University which is owned by a businessman with his co religious cabal. The state owned university is crying for help and Obi is wasting a state money on a private business. Who knows he might be one of the owners of the school. Nonsense.
