Oshiomhole Apologises Over Comments To A Widow by naijaracist(m): 1:55pm On Nov 29, 2013
Benin – Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Friday apologised for the comments he made to a widow in Benin during an inspection tour on Mission Road, in the state capital, a fortnight ago.
Oshiomhole said that he now regretted the comments which had become the subject of discourse in the social media.
The Governor, however, noted that he made the comments in anger.
Oshiomhole’s apology was made when the leadership of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN), paid him a courtesy visit in Benin.
He noted that though the challenge of modern times had bestowed on the shoulders of some women and single mothers the status of bread winners of their homes, such should not be used as an accuse to flout the laws.
The Governor urged the Muslim women leaders to use their offices to propagate the essence of healthy living among children and women in the nation and the need to maintain proper sanitary conditions in their neighbourhoods.
Oshiomhole lamented that the challenge of widowhood had also exposed children to different temptations, adding that there was the need for society to be careful, to avoid unwittingly creating more problems for the nation.
He noted that money was not the best thing that guaranteed ones happiness, “but honesty and selfless service.
The Governor added that if Muslims and Christians were adequately committed to their religious doctrines, the world would be a better place.
He urged the women to propagate the message of Islam through the nooks and crannies of the nation, and to also inculcate the values of honesty in their followers.
Oshiomhole, however, assured the association of government’s support in ensuring that its present leadership made remarkable progress and also consolidated on the successes of their predecessors.
Earlier, the FOMWAN National President, Hajia Amina Omoti, urged the state government to look into the issue of the teaching of Islamic Religious Studies in public schools in the state.
Omoti also solicited for government’s moral and financial support for the effective running of the association. (NAN)

Rubbish you are apologizing cos of the public outrage, oshimole where is your conscience? For you to openly curse a widow no matter what shows there is no conscince within you. I Will leave judgment for God. We now know how you regarded the masses after late night meetings with Obj during your NLC days

Control your anger (anger management course) so you don't say what you will regret especially when such statements make lasting impressions on its receiver. What if the woman out of frustration and her governor's approval had gone ahead to kill herself? This apology would have come too late. Your popularity now because of your handwork should not get into your head that you now forget where you are coming from-humble background and start insulting those who are still there……………for now. Pride goes before the fall of man. God bless.

I wouldn't take that as an apology... He should come out and apologise specifically and not use a 'women group' visit as an avenue.....

He just dealt APC a great blow in the forthcoming election...

Oshiomhole, is lucky that, Nigeria citizens are peaceful people, if not revolution would have started from Edo State. But he should not worry, as God of the widows will surely fight for her unless you call her back and make her happy within 2 weeks, so that, she will not be going up and down to sell in order to makes an end meet.

Yes!! Everyone can make mistake. To err is even human but what I can't fathom is your lack of control over your emotion more so in full public glare with camera rolling! Only God knows what kind of violent temperament you exhibits in private.

Exactly why Nigeria is the way it is, every single action is misunderstood, misdirected, misinterpreted and coated with sentiments and that's not what the APC stands for. APC stands for Discipline, Justice and Equity and maintaining the Rule of law; And if Nigeria must move to a 21st century modern Nation, these virtues and Characters must be inculcated into each and every citizen of this Nation(No matter the class or condition) and no longer be treated with kids gloves, as they say, " Discipline is simply doing what you are supposed to do, whether it be convenient for you or not"
You can't be Preaching Development and Growth without being ready for its corresponding tasks and obligations. Oshiomole, Fashola, and Ngige have stood up to show Nigerians that Development will come only when our Leaders jettison Sentiment, Hypcrisy, Mediocrity, Nepotism, and other Negative vices that have bedevilled our society and embrace full-time PATRIOTISM. Even though we see the Governor's action as being heartless and harsh, we must also consider the message it has sent across to the rest of the citizens of Edo State to brace up and embrace Patriotism and Love for our Nation as Govt is not ready to tolerate indiscipline of any guise henceforth and as they say "Spare the rod and spoil the Child". Nigeria is in dare need of Leaders like Fashola, Ngige, Rochas, Amaechi, and Oshiomole, People who can stand up for Justice no matter the circumstances if we must move forward. Lastly, We all have to Think Positive, Stay Positive, Act Positive and Be the Change you want to see in the world!
