Gov. Obi presents 110 Vehicles to Anambra State Local Govts

Few weeks after Governor Obi presented official cars to Judges, Magistrates, Permanent Secretaries, Director in the State Civil Service, Traditional Rulers in the State, among others, he presented 110 vehicles to the Local Governments in the State.

80 vehicles were for Head of Service and Directors in the Local Government Service while 30 are pool vehicles for the 21 Local Governments, and vehicles for Traditional Rulers Council, Market leaders, Youth Councils, Asatu men and women leaders.

Speaking at the official handover of the vehicles to the beneficiaries at Ekwueme Square, Governor Obi said it was part of the measures put in place to re-build human infrastructure in the State. He advised the recipients to reciprocate the gesture by increasing their productivity and output for the overall good of the State.

Governor Obi who vowed to continue working till his handover date of 17th of March, 2014 said that what his Government lined up for the State would continue to inspire the people of the State to love the State and have faith and trust in Government. “As I speak, we are taking delivery of over 25,000 computers for schools in Anambra State, which we have paid fully for. We have also concluded plans to start the Three Arms Zone, Nnewi Shopping Mall and more roads. Though these projects will cost billions of Naira, we already have the money set aside. The 100 million naira cash given to Paul University and Madonna University would be extended to other private or church-owned Universities in Anambra State for they serve our people. This is besides the 5 Billion Naira we recently made available to our State University, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University recently,” Governor Obi said.

On the ongoing recruitment of 7,000 civil servants in the State, Gov. Obi said his Government had the money to pay them for two years, which is about 5 Billion Naira, secured in the Bank in order not to encumber the incoming Governor. He also said that the recruitment had been structured in such a way to give all the towns in the state a sense of belonging by making sure that at least 10 persons each come from all the towns in the State.

Speaking earlier, the State Commissioner for Local Government Areas, Mrs. Azuka Enemuo said that as Commissioners working for Anambra State and for Governor Peter Obi that they keep on, unceasingly, thanking God for the gift of Governor Obi and what God is using him to do in Anambra State. She said that the cars given to them was the first of such gesture in both old and new Anambra State and that it would motivate them to work better for the grassroots for the ultimate good of the State.
