I just dey vex as I dey see the trailer. And the werey director dey promote this thing for Oscars. I no even dey see or understand the Mami Wata wey all of us Sabi na wetin him dey portray. I don't even know the theme of the story. Whether na the deity Baba wan portray or folklore abi na tales of oppression.

I remember a few weeks ago some peeps on this thread was discussing the issues plaguing Nollywood.
Anyways, I saw on the news few days ago with Lagos State Governor, Sanwo Olu, commissioning a $100mn Film City development in Epe with numerous studios and other ancillary support services in tow. Let's see how it goes.

We have too many lazy directors in the country
I can’t believe none of these guys can collaborate with marvel to sell sango/Oya story to them

Of all the four Martin Scorsese films I've watched, "THE WOLF OF WALL STREET" remains my absolute favourite. Funny how they all feature Leonardo DiCaprio as the lead actor.
Other films being: The Departed, The Irishman, Gangs of New York.

KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON will be next.
Raging Bull--1980 is his masterpiece. No other film of his comes close.Another personal favourite of mine is Casino--1995.Notable mentions are The King Of Comedy--1982 and After Hours--1985

I believe I saw somewhere two years ago or so that Netflix had a deal with a group of Nollywood producers. I think with EbonyLife for a host of projects and I think I saw the adaptation of one or two of the yoruba deities (Sango and Oya I think) planned for production. I haven't heard any updates about it since then.

Old Dads

Its enjoyable. Some of the funny scenes took me out.

Its one of those kind of 6.5 feels too low and 7 feels too much.

So just in the middle.
Old dads.
6/10 for me. The usual comedy story line about being a dad.
I just have one question really, can vasectomy fail?

Lmfao.... it's now I just realized the film I actually wanted to tag was THE AVIATOR instead of "The Irishman".

So it brings my total Martin Scorsese's filmography sampling to FIVE Movies. 😅😅

I also read the book. Infact, I've read all her 3 books. Whether I believe her story or not is something else, but her tales seems wild and too good to be true.

Though in this physical world of ours, it is hard to believe such tales.

When you realise there's nothing Original in stories to tell anymore in movies you'll appreciate some films more. It's the storytelling quality that differentiates the GREATS from the "average".

Checked out this trailer yesterday evening to see what's all the hype about and I was premiumly fvvking disappointed. The movie looks bland as fvvk. And the acting and dialogue just smells atrocious. Never been turned off by a trailer before even for Nollywood standards.

The only positive I see about the movie is it's beautiful Cinematography and costume design. The scriptwriting and acting is suspect.... wondering how the whole movie would be noticing this just from the trailer. Ain't impressed at all. 😤😐😑

Perhaps the trailer did not do justice to the movie because it’s getting great reviews and praises all over the world, especially among critics. It currently has 100% rating on rotten tomatoes with 29 reviews.

It’s currently Nigeria’s official selection for Oscars. With the massive support it’s getting all over the world, it’s likely it will make it to the best international feature film which would be a massive win for Nigeria movie industry.

Besides, it’s the first Nigerian movie at Sundance and it was highly reviewed and appreciated. That alone is a win for the the Nigeria movie industry. At least, more Nigerian filmmakers will begin to look beyond the usual style of filmmaking they do and begin to be more deliberate when making their films.

This is where the problem lies promoting mediocrity.

What's wrong if nollywood catches up with the world stage why shut out the rest of the world so we can only see the crapfest that is here.

They've been some nigerian movies and series produced these days that are surprising for me. Not highly rated but interesting to watch.

If they can do that they can do more and better.
