Gov. Obi presents more 100 buses to Schools and cheques to first class graduates

100 buses were yesterday distributed to public and mission schools in Anambra State. This brought it to 300 out of a total of 500 purchased by Gov. Peter Obi for schools in the State.

Gov. Obi, who flagged of the distribution at Alex Ekwueme Square, assured that all public and mission schools in the State would receive the vehicles before the end of his tenure. He said that tge schools would, in addition, receive generators and computers as well as be provided with school clinics and other necessary facilities.

The Governor, during the occasion,, presented a cheque of 1 million Naira each to four indigenes of the State from different universities who graduated with First Class honors in their various disciplines. He said that the government would assist them secure employment in accordance with the policy of his Government of rewarding excellence and hardwork as a way of encouraging the children of the State to excel in their various fields.

Speaking earlier, the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Uju Okeke said that all levels of education in Anambra were benefitting from the State Government's huge investment on education. He said the the State Government was committed to restoring the glory of education in the State as the strongest asset for competition in the world.
Speaking to journalists, the graduates that received the award, namely, Miss Chidinma Odili, Mr. Uche na Nze, Miss Angela Muojekwu, and Miss Cynthia Ezue, while thanking te Governor for the gesture, assured that they would not dissappoint the State in any way.
The Chairman, House Committee on Education , Miss Rita Maduagwu, commended the Governor for sustaining the tempo of work even at th tail end of his tenure.

Also speaking, the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Nikky Ugochukwu said that the continued work the Governor was doing even after elections had shown that he never worked because of election, but because of the good of the State.

Though long overdue, let the schools be revered as great institution of government saddled with the responsibilities of education and socialization.

Our children spend most part of their days in schools hence nothing is too much for education.

Let the good news continue, Rochas Okorocha is doing great in education sector and Peter Obi is taking it further and I believe T. A. Orji, Martin Elechi and Chime will spring up surprises to restored the dignity of Education as done by Gov. Chibuike Amaechi.

One thing about Peter Obi that I cherish so much is that he doesn't borrow to execute projects. Even when the IGR of his state is still low. No wonder Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweeala said that he is the most fiscally responsible Governor in Nigeria.
