Ex-president Obasanjo Paid A Surprise Visit To President Jonathan In Kenya by Okikiade(m): 9:56pm On Dec 12, 2013
President Goodluck Jonathan and former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, had breakfast together in Nairobi, Kenya, on December 12, 2013, Thursday.
Both politicians were among other African leaders that graced the 50th Independence Anniversary celebration of Kenyaat the Safaricom Stadium in Kasarani, Nairobi, on Thursday, December 12.
Obasanjo's visit was said tohave taken everybody by surpriseas it contradicts the expected nature of the relationship between both men, owing to recent public criticisms of the President by Obasanjo.
The unexpected meeting held prior to the anniversary event, as the former president, Obasanjo, paid a surprise visit to President Jonathan at the Intercontinental Hotel, Nairobi, where they had a private breakfast together.
It would be recalled that Obasanjo had written a strong-worded letter, which went public earlier this week, accusing the President of performing below par and taking actions calculated at destroying the country.
Meanwhile, in his speech, at the event, President Jonathan called on all Kenyans to unite. According to him, there was no alternative to unity if Kenyans must move their nation forward. In building their nation, Jonathan told Kenyans that they must make unity their focal point.
He said that the destiny of Kenya lies with its people and as such, the people must strive hard to take their country to a greater height. President Jonathan said that he was happy that former Kenyan Prime Minister, Raila Odinga was present at the event and working with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"Nobody can love you more than Kenyans, so you all have to jointly develop your country. All Kenyans should come together to form an inclusive society.
"Since 2007, many African countries like Kenya have been celebrating 50 years of independence and freedom, our founding fathers talked of political freedom to be followed by economic freedom.
"The present generation of African leaders must work hard on science and technology as well as industrialisation, so that there could be economic development and freedom." President Jonathan stated.
Obasanjo was said to have sat quietly during the event and was making calls on his mobile phone at intervals while the event lasted. Source:naij.com

In the spirit of sportsmanship both leaders need †✆ boost their relationship for improved national gains. They should disagree †✆ agree on critical national issues.

I beg to differ. In a corruption infested country like Nigeria, we'll be doomed if an incumbent is an ally of his predecessor. Moreso, I don't see OBJ's criticism as a beef but rather a friendly advice in the interest of both GEJ and Nigeria as a whole. I believe we need more people who can stand upright to check the excesses of the incumbent Govt.

This is pure politics.
What happened there at Nairobi does not rule out the fact that they are not in agreement with each other, they may just decided not to wash their dirty linen in public, especially in foreign land.

Our source who would not want to be named said as soon as the former President arrived the Intercontinental hotel, Nairobi where President
Jonathan was staying, he went into humor, trying to pretend as if everything was fine.

According to the source, “Baba came and in his usual self tried to be humorous while on the breakfast table with the President. He appeared as
if nothing had happened but the truth of the matter is that, this time he would be shocked at what would happen.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that President Jonathan felt seriously slighted by the decision of former President Obasanjo to release such
letter to the public and has vowed to retaliate.

“Mr. President would not take this one lightly. He is going to expose Baba and all his hypocrisy and Nigerians would be shocked,” a source who was in Kenya with the President said.

Obj is detribalised because he has been well exposed to different tribes and race at a very early stage of his life, mainly because of his career in the army and international engagements after he left being head of state in 1979, Obj is intelligent, very condident and NEVER fidgety! He was handed a ruined country by Sani Abacha, external debt, of 37b usd, total collapsed economy, civil servants poorly paid yet when he was leaving in 2007, he had paid up all Nigeria's debt, did not borrow a dime rather left an external reserve of over $60b usd, and excess crude account of $22b usd, with an economy that was far better than he met.
But what do we have in Gej all he met he destroyed, external reserve less than 35b usd, excess crude less than 5b usd, external debt has risen above 35b usd, ordinarily every govt coming in should be an improvement on the past, can Gej expain what happen to all the money that has been earn under his watch? What on earth could ve made him deplete all accounts he met so badly ? Is it that he has not eatned a dime since coming to office or what has happened cos there's no infrastructure on ground to show for the totall rape of the nation's resources.
Pls I rest my case, thus is not about trive or clan, Obj is light years ahead of Gej period! Obj is a Nigerian, Gej is an Ijaw man! The ywoare ddifferent
