ACF just showed how illiterate they can choose to be, its unfortunate the north allows such leaders rule them. They lack the basic knowledge of Nigerian history and to think most of them aspire to lead Nigeria is disheartening.

To place facts right: The Arabs in conjunction with Fulani and Hausa converts to islam took more slaves out of Nigeria than any other, only the gorilla war fare by the Tivs, and the inability of their horses to survive in the middle belt as a result of tsetse fly slowed their encroachment to the south.

The Niger delta people where middle men, that took slaves from the Igbo hinter lands from the Igbo slave raiders.
The Benin kingdom sourced most of its slaves from its Yoruba neighbors, not forgetting that the Igala's who are in the north/ middle belt raided noth Igbo land and surroundings for slaves; until they them selves where conquered by the Bini.

Quote from your Source:

It, however, said that the people of the Niger Delta were responsible for the economic woes of the North, having raided the people of the Middle Belt who were part of the North as slaves for the whites during the colonial days.

So what are they saying? That if the Niger Delta had not taken slaves from the Middle Belt, they would have taken those slaves themselves and gotten rich? I don't get it.

Why even bring up this issue of slavery in this 21st century? Every tribe in Nigeria was involved in slavery, especially them. The people who suffered most were the Ibo, but even among them, the Arochukwu dynasty were the greatest slave-traders in Nigeria.

What is up with this political meandering? Are they trying to demonise the people of the Niger Delta simply because of this issue of stealing our oil - or are they trying to justify their stealing of our oil by referring back to slavery days?

@ Ibime
They are out of ideas, rather than sit down and design a sustainable development plan thats based on resources they posses they are trying to assasinate the character of the Niger Delta folks as people responsible for their woes. Very funny indeed.
