The United States is set to evacuate non-essential embassy staff and citizens from South Sudan's Juba airport today after the army factions clashed. Currently, diplomats have reported over 500 people killed and 800 people wounded, raising fears of greater issues.

"Most people are scared they might be confronted with a mob or see dead bodies," said one aid worker in Juba, adding that the city was calmer on Wednesday morning, after residents awoke to heavy gunfire and artillery blasts on Monday and Tuesday.

"Planes due to take off for Juba are empty as people don't want to go there. Even the Sudanese don't want to go home," said the Fly540 official, who asked not to be identified.

Ethiopia has brought home approximately 140,000 citizens from Saudi Arabia, the International Organization for Migration said today, a month after the oil-rich kingdom initiated the deportation of all the undocumented migrants.

Ethiopia initially expected around 30,000 citizens to return home, but now expects 150,000 will fly back in what has become the largest human airlift in recent history.

Unfortunately, this puts Ethiopia, one of the fastest growing economies in Africa in a dangerous position: the reintegration of thousands of people who lack savings and belongings.

Many migrants: Indians, Asians, and other Africans who reside in Saudi Arabia face mental and physical abuses, violence, and discrimination as South Sudan violence spreads.

It'll spread? yes, according to United Nations' Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. He reported today that South Sudan's violence could spread to other parts of Africa's youngest country. "This is a political crisis and urgently needs to be dealt with through political dialogue," he told reporters. "There is a risk of this violence spreading to other states (in South Sudan) as we have already seen some signs of this."
