@topic, i'll pick Pierce Brosnan. He fits into the bond character like A sock on a foot.

As for Daniel Craig, he protrays more of a ruthless assassin than a smooth British agent. look at how he was in Quantum of Solace. He didn't protray the James Bond everyone knows.

And besides, he looks too american too, even though he's british.

well i'ii say Roger Moore' he is the best. [live and let die]

then Sean Connery, i think he was the first and he laid the foundation for the cast.

thirdly Pierce Brosnan, he could bring both actors (Roger Moore $ Sean Connery) in one piece.then this current guy , mmmmm Daniel Craig he actually is a flop. but i blame the directors.
Re: Who's The Best James Bond And Who's The Worst? by montelik(m): 7:37pm On Oct 24, 2009
The best undisputably and easily would be Connery. Considering Lazenby only played 007 once (he did relatively okay in OHMSS which happens to be my joint favorite bond film), Dalton played 007 thrice (I loved "License to kill" and "Living daylights") and Daniel Craig has only just begun ("Quantum of the Solace" was poor). Then I would have to say the worst would be Roger Moore considering how many times he played 007. I cant think of a Bond film he was in that I really like ("live and let die" was good, so was "spy who loved me" but not great). Even Brosnan who I didn't fancy had "Golden eye" and "Die another day" which were good performances (particularly "Golden eye").by rank I would say

1. Connery
2. Brosnan & Dalton
3. Moore & Lazenby

Saw Live and Let Die again recently. I loved the fantastic soundtrack by Paul MaCartney, but was surprised by how little I enjoyed the movie after 30 minutes. undecided Couldn't endure more than 10 minutes of Lazenby the first time. Might take another look at OHMSS.

ogbeche77:

His two movies are the highest grossing films in the history of the Bond franchise, and Casino Royale made the list of hightest grossing movies of all time.

Whoever says Daniel Craig is a flop know nada about the real 007. His 007 movies hav been top-notch. QOS looks real-life not the always smooth going stories. For those who don't know Dalton was 1st contacted i think just after Dr. No as replacement 4 Connery when he was in his 20's. He was again contacted b4 Moore b4 he finally accepted after Moore.Albert Broccoli wanted him as his 007, he can hav this cold look Craig has.
@motelik i also loved license to kill and the living daylights(my personal fav b4 casino royale cameabout). I think Craig is fantastic. My worst bond movie: die another day which had a lot of hype.

So right. A device that turns Asians into Englishmen. Silliest plot of all the Bond instalments. But guys are too busy watching Halle wriggle like a worm out of the sea to care if they're watching BS. I don't know what it is with EON and Dalton. They wrote Golden Eye for him. He turned it down and Brosnan took it away.

Whoever says Daniel Craig is a flop

DANIEL CRAIG is a FLOP!!!!

he looks nothing like James Bond, no aura, not smooth with the ladies, no swagger, too serious for a James Bond, no humour,  only because they wanted to keep James Bond british thats why he got the role, if not Eric Bana would have got the role,  actualy he makes Timothy Dalton look so good,

This was the main reason why the Jason Bourne series is out selling James Bond

Pierce Brosnan was my best,Daniel Craig can't seduce or charm a girl even if his life depended on it.
Re: Who's The Best James Bond And Who's The Worst? by Nobody: 7:33pm On Oct 29, 2009
@ omar22. D same eric bana dat flopped wit hulk, did u see d performance of Edward Norton in d incredible hulk, now dats an actor. Where do u get ur info from, actually d Bourne series overtook Bond series with movies like 2mrw neva dies, d world is not enuf, die another day and that was part of the reason d Bond series needed a redirection with Daniel Craig and Casino Royale is d HIGHEST grossing Bond of ALL time. Daniel Craig is d closest to the Bond Ian Fleming wrote about, and coincidentally Daniel debuted with d 1st book by Ian.
@ Owen i think u are making a mistake wit d Bond thing dis might be due to the Brosnan effect where he is always in control of everything (which in reality is hardly the case) look at his movies Thomas Crown affair, Tailor of Panama etc the matador was different anyway. Daniel Craig is a Bond that has just had 2 missions remenber people he was just given 00 status then he falls in love and finds out he is been deceived then he goes on a revenge mission. Note dat Quantum of Solace continues from where Casino Royale stops, i don't see d time for seducing women in between this except you want the often childlish hollywood twist. Give him time remenber Daniel Craig is d younger Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timolthy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan.
@ mad_max i'm glad u agree with me. Why do people dislike Dalton so much. The guy didn't like the way the character was been portrayed and he was vocal about it, guess it didn't go down well wit d execs. But i personally like his films license to kill and the living daylights. The former had nothing to do with the soviets and their plots were quite odd with the mostly conventional "one-man world domination".
Later house, i really love dis forum getting to share opinions. Thanks guys n gals

@Darthmaul

Your point is? James Bond has loyal fans whether its been acted by Sean Connery or P Diddy, the fact is people all over Europe has said that Daniel Craig has diluted the james bond character more or less turned it into an extension of Bleep movie he hasnt got the typical James Bond swagger, like I said earlier on if not for the brits who wanted to keep the role British the name Daniel Craig would not surface, Now to pick on one Eric Bana's film that didnt do well at the box office is totally unfair, but I the I could give you a long list of bomb performance by DC, at the end of the day and MY OPINION, DC is worst James Bond ever, Timothy Dalton was better but he was a poor version of Sean Connery, Bosman was a Cross between Connery and Roger Moore and was so good that people hardly missed Connery and Moore, but lets say DC came after Dalton may be he might have been accepted, but he step into Bosman's shoes which seems very big to fill,
Re: Who's The Best James Bond And Who's The Worst? by Nobody: 9:58pm On Nov 03, 2009
Omar, tell me which Eric Bana's film that did well at d BO, i knw Troy with Brad Pitt that movie is wack!
Remenber DC is d young james bond c'mon n let me tell u if Pierce had continued wit bond the series wud had been DEAD! Bourne series overtook bond series becos of weak bond plots. I'll repeat dats why DC was brought to spice it up. Also i think Pierce looks more american than DC. Of course Bond character is british, c'mon don't believe evrythin u hear on E! channel.
Re: Who's The Best James Bond And Who's The Worst? by MadMax1(f): 10:26pm On Nov 03, 2009
People have been saying all over Europe that he 'diluted' Bond? What people? The same ones who flocked to see Craig, and made his Bond outings the most successful in the history of the franchise? Craig is the most popular Bond ever, and the ONLY Bond to have won an award for his acting (Casino Royale). He's supremely talented, and perfect for the re-invention of the franchise, which was losing relevance. I'd given up on the franchise as stupid , formulaic and not worth my time after that wretched Die Another Day. Craig changed my mind. Notice how he and Judi Dench play against and bring out the best in each other, and how their relationship deepens with time (each movie). Great chemistry. A perfect pairing, something she didn't have with Brosnan. Craig's a good thing. Don't knock it.

My favourite james bond is pierce brosnan. I so love all his movies followed by sean connery.
The worst james bond i have seen is daniel craig. He should b actin terminator or incridible hulk. He is uncharismatic & ugly. So destructive, uninteligent, lacks d demenour. Ian flemmin wil b turnin in his grave in disapointment. D guy is such a bore i totally dispise al d bond movie actd by him. I dnt watch it more dan once whch is unusual cuz i have watch al d oda's a thousand times.
I hope they find another person soon.

mad_max i looove u. U're my kinda girl.
@riffraff actually Daniel Craig fits the Ian Fleming's character in the series best, and that's is d fact. Ask anyone who reads d books. Daniel has come to stay so i'd advise u to either watch or 4get about d series.

Re: Who's The Best James Bond And Who's The Worst? by MadMax1(f): 10:05pm On Nov 04, 2009
Awwwww Darthmaul. You're right. He's the Bond in the books. You only need to read ONE Bond book to see he's a cold, brutal killing machine. People are so used to Roger Moore's campy ways as he saves the world over a glass of champagne they forget he's a joke compared to what Fleming wrote. I bought the enire collection of Bond movies and spent weeks watching each. I was amazed at how good Craig and Connery were. Craig is the best. He actually acts, which some previous Bonds forget to do, and he brings complexity to a previously one-dimensional screen character.

Re: Who's The Best James Bond And Who's The Worst? by montelik(m): 1:44pm On Nov 14, 2009
I have always felt that On her Majesty's Secret Service never got its due credit as probably once the best Bond films made, probably because of the residual aura Sean Connery still had over the role, as well as other factors that harmed perception of the film. But the fact that the present direction in which Daniel Craig is taking the role and the changes almost totally reflect the way in which the producers would have taken the Bond role had Lazenby not backed out after agreeing to shoot an additional 5 films, is vindication that the movie was always actually much better than most people perceived it to be. Unfortunately most have already set their minds about the film and probably can't watch it with objectivity.
Re: Who's The Best James Bond And Who's The Worst? by MadMax1(f): 7:26pm On Nov 14, 2009
On what planet did Lazenby back out of 5 Bond movies?EON was having contract disputes with Connery. They dropped him and scouted for someone else. Lazenby was a model at the time and took the role, his first I think. OHMSS royally bombed. It might have its merits but fans were used to Connery in the role and were hostile to the new guy. EON dropped Lazenby and went crawling back to Connery, who not only got everything he demanded the first time, he added some incredible terms and perks as well, and got them all. Bye bye Lazenby. I really should try and watch more than 10 minutes of that movie. The only actors that have turned down Bond roles are Connery, Dalton (for whom Golden Eye was written) and, good heavens, Mel Gibson (twice)
Re: Who's The Best James Bond And Who's The Worst? by montelik(m): 10:41pm On Nov 14, 2009
@ mad max. check your history. its a fact that once production on OHMSS started the producers offered Lazenby a 5 movie deal (they very impressed with his early performance e.g he did all his own stunts, physically well suited for the role and was learning fast) which was accepted in principle. Lazenby later backed out after his agent told him that the Bond franchise had no future and he should look elsewhere. Check it up online if you doubt me. Even Lazenby himself has said countless times since then that he regrets his decision to listen to bad advice and turn down the opportunity. One of the main reasons the film bombed was because the producers were mad after Lazenby (who they felt owed them after giving him a major role with no acting resume) backed out on the deal and told them it would be his one and only appearance. They didn't see the need to heavily promote a movie featuring a Bond who had already signified he was leaving. Also Lazenby's was having serious problems with the director which made shooting a little difficult, as well as his co-star (both strenuously denied any problems) which affected promotion of the film. You hit the nail on the head when you said fans were hostile towards Lazenby. People could only see Bond through the eyes of Connery and his shadow always hovered over the film. If you actually watch it you will notice in the opening scene Lazenby has a line where he acknowledges Connery's portrayal of Bond previous to him (this is the first and only time its been done that I know of). That was how difficult it was to escape the big shadow Connery hung over the movie. Judgement of how Lazenby performed is up to different people. Afterall I never really took to Moore, but some would call him their best Bond. But as for me, I watch for more than just the star (James Bond) but the co-stars, soundtrack, action sequences, plot, cinematography, dialogue, directing and how generally well the movie is put together. Some my never be able get past their Lazenby dislike to watch the film objectively. But if and when you do, trust me you will find that OHMSS is truly a very good film that doesn't deserve the bad rap it has consistently gotten.
