Hypocrites!! I expect them to follow it up with separate markets, hospitals, not forgetting that they should endeavour to make female children to live in different streets from the male children so that they won't mix together when they play. Misplaced priority!!! |

I think it time to start talking of the right of women in nigeria. I think one of the constitution review should include , no female child must be force into marriage. and no under 18 should be allowed to get married. |

youngies: morpheus24: Every state has the right to create bye laws as long as they do not contradict the federal laws. If Bauchi State decides to ban mixed schools then so be it. A lots of boys & girls schools are exist in the south so is not a new thing. In the USA different state have different laws, while some state approved of death penalty & same sex marriage others don’t. |
Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by morpheus24: 5:39pm On Aug 28, 2008 |
Typical muslim answer, next you will have laws that allow 10 year olds get married legally, it won't stop until it becomes utterly ridiculous. I have said it before if you guys want to form an Islamic republic and make your own laws, why don't you say so instead of using these corner corner laws By the way have the adults even set legislation to ban themselves from flying prosititutes into the country before they want to dictate morality to the younger ones. As if the law will control anything inthis modern age. |
Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by Ibime(m): 6:05pm On Aug 28, 2008 |
I remember that in primary school, if not for a couple of girls in my class, school would have been uncompetitive and I would have gotten lower grades. This law just shows the digressionary thinking of the Hausa/Fulani. |
Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by DisGuy: 6:59pm On Aug 28, 2008 |
Ibime: are you sure about his? you are not in anyway saying pupils from single sex school perform worse than pupils from mixed schools are you? na wa wetin tribalism/racism no go cause sef! all in the name of showing up the northerners, seemingly educated people making very weird comments! |

Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by Nobody: 7:23pm On Aug 28, 2008 |
MC Usman: Nigeria is one funny country. When it comes to retrogressive laws we suddenly start hearing of the states quasi-independence from the federal arm . . . the minute it comes to cold hard cash (aka federal allocation), states become appendages of the federal government. |

Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by Riskie(f): 7:46pm On Aug 28, 2008 |
From personal experience I would say that segregating schools does not in any way prevent the occurrence of teen pregnancy or poor academic performance. In fact I think it exacerbates these things. The thing is that young people will experiment because junior/senior highschool is the time when most of them do. They will find a way regardless of segregation to do what they want. Rather than taking the seemingly easier way out by separating the sexes, they should try to educate the children. In doing so, many of them would choose on their own to do the right thing. When I was in 11th grade I was in a school that was segregated. The male and female students had their own building and still a boy and girl from my school had a kid before we did our IGCSEs. Not only that but unspeakable things happened in the bathroom with students as young as 10 . So basically segregation is BS. It is nothing but mere wishful thinking. |

Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by Nobody: 9:24pm On Aug 28, 2008 |
The law of independence from the North I expect is we don't want allocation from federal government of Nigeria that involves monies from beer and oil.Drinking Beer is against Sharia and oil money is from land of prostitution. I heard Mr Goje, Governor of Gombe paid himself N200M and N100M to his deputy as pensions when they are still in offices. Are elected people entitled to pensions?? So adults don't play with sex huh! Northern elite only impoverish their people and chop their hands off with sharia knife. Mother fuckers! |

What is adults with 13-old-year-old girls doing in a marriage?? Educating them to do well in their exams?? Hypocrites from generation to generation! |
Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by Queenisha: 11:02pm On Aug 28, 2008 |
I went to an FGGC back when federal schools were federal schools with no day students except sickly people. I can remember at least 8 girls without thinking hard, that carried belle including 3 northerners These were girls in an all girls boarding school o and these mallams think segregating boys and girls who trek to and from school will decrease immorality. Like someone said, they should also create seperate markets, hospitals, restaurants and bukas for males and females. And then when they graduate high school, seperate universities and places of work. Infact they should have their girls burquared up and kept at home like the Talibans did These people think they're in the 14th century |

ferdiii: Like I always say,the southerners should just pipe down and exercise some patience In a few years all the almajiris will be walking around with one or no hand maybe then they'll stop their rikichi and we'll finally have peace |
Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by DeepZone: 11:21pm On Aug 28, 2008 |
Northern elite only impoverish their people and chop their hands off with sharia knife. Mother fuckers! the problem here is that they'll soon become your problem because of the issue of one Nigeria. What stops those armless sharia victims from migrating to the south knowing full well they'll prosper and fare better as beggars because there are more southerners than northerners that actually have a change to spare. They may continue with their new agenda and promote homosexuality to it's core after all they were known for that. |
Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by tpia: 12:16am On Aug 29, 2008 |
I don't see why this is front page news. Besides, that picture is many years old. Those girls must be grown by now. Arent a lot of northern schools segregated anyway? Its nothing new. I mean, its not like one never heard anything of the kind before. just my opinion sha. I did not go to a mixed high school, so I don't really see it as a big deal. Neither do I live in the north. Dont know why it has to be state policy, but like the nudity bill, it shows some of the leadership are idle and clueless about priorities. What they need to focus on is how to improve the standard of education. If they're ignoring that, then they need to be reminded. |

Every state has the right to create bye laws as long as they do not contradict the federal laws. If Bauchi State decides to ban mixed schools then so be it. A lots of boys & girls schools are exist in the south so is not a new thing. banning mixed schools definitely contradicts federal law. state laws can be repealed by the supreme court in the US, the same goes for nigeria. the only difference is the nigerian judiciary hardly ever hears these cases. i imagine ur reaction if a state decides to ban all mosques. |
Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by AloyEmeka9: 2:42am On Aug 29, 2008 |
I think we better analyze the advantages of co ed schools to the other. One of their reasons for the ban are it'll help checkmate teenge pregnancy and I think they have a point there. So, if there is no concrete advantage of coed, why not allow them to do what they desire in their own state?. It's not segregation at all because no race, sex or tribe is being segregated at all, the sexes were just separated to avoid unnecessary accidents. I prefer co ed though, , don't want to raise homosexuals as children(no offense). Homosexuality is very high in same sex schools though. |
Re: Bauchi State Bans Public Co-ed Schools by kazey(m): 3:52am On Aug 29, 2008 |
hehehe why can't they promote the usage of condoms? Oh i forgot sex is a scene. All Nigerians are the same, they just have different ways of addressing different social issues. By instilling fear though religious Dogmas, or by policing through the establishment of laws. The northerners would use laws, the southerners would use the place of worship or religious dogmas to address social issues. Its the same thing, well in a way. One is heaven or hell, the other is Jail or wip. The choice is yours Nigeria na wa. |
