we have 3 RB's in the squad - Hoyte, Sagna and Eboue, only 1 is leaving for the ACN, leaving 2, even if one gets injured the other can play, so why get yet another player who can play at RB? if he was useful at CB or LB then I would agree. But not another RB, apart from central midfield, that is the second most congested area we have, while lacking on the Wings and LB.

Sagna, can play anywhere else and Gilberto can also play CB.

So with He can be cover for Hoyte if Sagna is used elsewhere.

Gilberto is a waste playing at CB, he helps the team FAR more when he plays in his natural position, Sagna playing at CB? maybe, but obviously Wenger would play Gilberto there before him, because in the last game he could have simply moved Sagna to the middle and played Hoyte at RB, but instead preferred Bertie there once Senderos was injured.

out of all these options you mentioned, the only successful one has been Flamini at LB, and Gilberto at CB, and even for Gilberto, that puts the defence at even more height disadvantage so I do not think this is the way to go. Flamini is a good back up for CM, but when Gilberto is available, it is just a big waste to play him at CB.

Yes I know Wenger converted Henry to a striker, Lauren from a MF to a RB, Kolo from a utility player to a CB, but even with all those, we need players excelling best in their natural positions, which is why I would still have preferred a winger.

We saw Diaby playing as a winger or forward last season, and it was not successful, I dont see the wisdom in continuing in that line all in the name of plan B, a better plan B would be to get a naturally gifted player in the wide positions, even if just one.

I beg to disagree with a SONG haters. Wenger sees something in this boy that the fans are not seeing. I watched Song on loan when he was in charlton and to me he did reasonably well. His ball control and passing abilities were more refined compared to when he came to arsenal 4 years ago. Although a lot of people expect him to follow suit in the mode of Fabregas, but he is a young defensive midfield player with African attributes which means raw strenght which could be to our advantage in 2 years time, give him time and you wont be disappointed, dont just believe he is an essien now. Toure wasnt everybody's favourite when he came to arsenal, but today we all love him. If wenger listened to the critcisms of the fans for 3 years, we wont be having one of the best central defenders in our beloved club. Let the manager decide what role is best for him and watch him develop
