Showbiz couple, Tunde and Wunmi Obe, famously known for their hit songs in the early 2000s, are celebrating their 20th year in marriage.

According to Guardian Newspaper, the couple are organising “a ‘one in town’ anniversary gig in Lagos…to celebrate the milestone”.

The event is set to be attended by high profile Nigerians in the entertainment industry including Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

Speaking with the newspaper on their marriage, Tunde Obe said, “Like in every relationship, there would be ups and downs, but I want to assure you that Wunmi and I have never put separation or divorce on the table; it’s not something we’ve ever discussed and it’s not something, by the grace of God, we will ever discuss.

As two adults, we table our differences and find solutions; we’ve never called a second party to settle anything that happens between my wife and me; we sit down and talk until we find solution.”

Christianity EtcWhat US Congress Said About Fr. Mbaka’s Humanitarian Services by 16Ebisco(op): 8:48am On Jul 21, 2018
https://dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Mbaka-1.jpg
The United States Congress has hailed the Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka over his excellence in humanitarian services.

Mbaka received the commendation during his visit to the US.

DAILY POST gathered that during the visit, Mbaka met with the Chaplain of the United states Congress, Rev. Fr. Patrick J Conroy and participated in the Opening Prayer at the US House of Representatives.

Fr Mbaka also received a special U.S Congress Citation which was presented to him via Congresswoman Karen Bass who has congressional portfolio over Africa Affairs.

The citation highlighted Fr Mbaka’s outstanding Humanitarian Services and Awareness in Education, Philanthropy, Humanitarian Services and other Initiatives that foster hope and healing to individuals affected by health and poverty disparity.

The Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition issued to Fr Mbaka under the seal of U.S House of Representatives and signed by Kren Bass, Member of Congress, in clear terms, spelt out efforts to raise awareness for Mbaka’s work in support of Education, healthcare, humanitarian services and general assistance for Nigerian in need as part of the presentation.

His return to Enugu over the week was greeted with wild reception as the major organs of Adoration Ministry Worldwide comprising of National Adoration Family led Chief Aka Emmanuel, Adoration Fathers’ Association (AFA) led by Chief Godwin Okolo, Adoration Mothers’ Association (AMA) led by Mrs Ann Aligwe and Adoration Youth’s Association led by Comrade Obianyom Chukwuagozie converged to receive him.

Mbaka dedicated the award to God and to thank God for his journey mercies and for keeping him and the members of the ministry while he was away.

Reacting to the award, Chief Aka Emmanuel said “On behalf of National Adoration family we are happy for Fr Mbaka and thank God that he is being celebrated all over the world today because for the United States to give him such recognition means that he is being celebrated in the world over.

“We appreciate that and pray that God will take him to a greater height, keep him for us, protect him and give him a longer life. He is a blessing to us”.

In a Congratulatory statement issued by the Media chief of Adoration Ministry, Barr Ikechukwu Maximus Ugwuoke, to Fr Mbaka he remarked that while some Nigerians have continued to take the free gift of Fr Mbaka to the nation for granted, God has continued and will ever continue to lift him up across the world as a sign and wonder.

In the said statement he asserted, “Nigerians are the major beneficiaries of Fr Mbaka Humanitarian Services and Awareness in Education, Philanthropy, Humanitarian Services and other Initiatives that Foster Hope and Healing to Individuals Affected by Health and Poverty Disparity and his general assistance for Nigerian in need.

“It is ironical that such a credible Government as United States of America, a country Millions of miles away from Nigeria should recognize and honour Fr Mbaka for his good works and virtues here, while greed, jealousy and ingratitude continue to becloud the minds of some of those at the helm of affairs of the Nigerian churches and Nigeria Government and preclude them from recognizing Fr Mbaka’s potentials and his free gift to the nation by God who made him a Nigerian.”

The statement further extended the appreciation of Adoration Ministry worldwide to the Government of United States for their unbiased assessment, considerations, honour and recognition extended to Fr Mbaka.

Describing Fr. Mbaka’s recognition as a well deserved honour, Ugwuoke asserted that the magnitude of Fr Mbaka’s charity and the miracles of God through him is unequalled in Nigeria and should be a source of thanksgiving and pride for Nigerians of goodwill.

Politics2019: No Election Will Hold In Biafraland – Zionists by 16Ebisco(op): 5:05pm On Jul 20, 2018
The Biafra Zionists Federation, BZF, on Friday vowed that no election would be conducted in the defunct Biafra region during the 2019 general elections.

This came from the self-acclaimed President of the BZF, Barr. Benjamin Onwuka.

He spoke to journalists in Enugu a day after he was released from prison, where he also boasted that he would take over Enugu government house on August 20 to announce Biafra Independence as President of Biafra.

Onwuka was arrested on May 30 alongside 32 members of his group in front of Enugu government house where they had gone to declare Biafra Independence.

They were discharged and acquitted by a Magistrate Court in Enugu.

He said nothing would stop him from “seizing Enugu government house on that day as President of Biafra as Enugu remains the capital of Biafra land.”

He stated that the struggle for the realization of Biafra has received a fresh momentum from the support of the United States of America (USA) and Isreali government, stressing that on August 20, they would “enter government house, Enugu with carrots and sticks with Isreali forces.

Onwuka said: “We will return back to Enugu government house on August 20. The Nigerian government has 31 days to run and wound up. Enugu is the capital of Biafra.

“The Enugu government house is the property of Biafra. It does not belong to Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, it does not belong to Mohammadu Buhari and also does not belong to Nigeria. I will seize the place on that day and the Isreali forces will be backing us on that day and we are inviting all Biafrans, students, Middle Belt, South-South and South west to come out and receive their freedom on that day.”

Onwuka, who confirmed that they were charged with treasonable felony after their arrests, stated that the United States of America (USA) ordered their release from prison last month, adding however that the order was not carried out until Thursday night.

“The Magistrate who had earlier declined jurisdiction on the matter and sent us to prison, suddenly pronounced us discharged and acquitted. We simply walked out of prison and we thank the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, who issued the order.

“Nobody believed we will return from prison. We went in and we have come out. They can’t do anything and we are going to show that we have the power of Isreali behind us.

“The implication of that order is that we have defeated Nigeria. They can no longer shoot at us. That order has reinforced the struggle and Biafra has gained momentum as Southeast, South-South and Middle Belt are now asking for it,” he disclosed.

He announced a ban on all political activities in Biafraland, stressing that elections won’t hold on Biafra territories in 2019. He listed the areas where there would not be election in 2019 to include Southeast, South-South, Western region, Bakassi Peninsula, Middle Belt, saying they are part of the Biafra territory.

Onwuka added, however, that the Nigerian government was free to conduct elections in ten northern states of Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Jigawa, Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Boronu and Yobe states.

PoliticsEkiti: Police Intimidation Worrisome – Fayose Cries Out by 16Ebisco(op): 9:23am On Jul 19, 2018
Gov. Ayo Fayose has again raised the alarm that police intimidation of himself, his family, and Ekiti workers has continued unabated days after the Saturday, July 14th governorship election.

According to a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the Governor said that the police had kept a permanent surveillance over the Government House.

They continue to fly helicopters over the Government House and Governor’s Office in a way that compromises the safety and well-being of residents and workers.

Fayose said that the helicopter flies so low that it runs the risk of crashing into high-rise buildings and masts within the premises.

The Governor stated further that, “the noise pollution this causes is enough irritation. This brazen show of naked force and abuse of power is as ungodly as it is undemocratic

“If the security forces belong to all Nigerians and not to President Muhammadu Buhari and APC, it should not be biased in this blatant manner

“It is unprofessional of the security forces to allow themselves be this debased, running APC errands when they are funded with resources that belong to all of us.

“They are obligated by the Constitution to be apolitical and not willing tools in the hands of the powers-that-be

“Once again, I say I will not be intimidated. I will stand on my feet until every injustice is upturned and the freedom and liberties of our people are restored

“The thief runneth when no one pursueth. They are afraid of their shadows”, he added.

PoliticsFayemi Reveals What Fayose Has Been Doing In Ekiti Since Last Four Years by 16Ebisco(op): 2:53pm On Jul 16, 2018
Newly-elected governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has explained why the people of Ekiti State voted for him and returned him into power.

Fayemi, during an interview on Channels Television’s News at 10, claimed there has been “arrested development” in the last four years under Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The former Minister of Solid Minerals also revealed why he is returning to power, noting that “there is unfinished business” in the Ekiti Government House.

“This victory means, at the Ekiti State level, a determination by our people to really have governance on a serious level back in Ekiti State. That’s why the people have shown fate, by returning us to power.

“On a national level, this victory means that the propaganda out there about our party (APC) being a party of trialists and people who are just interested in a section of the country is not selling to ordinary Nigerian,” he said.

Explaining what he meant by “unfinished business”, Fayemi said his return to the seat of power as Ekiti State governor is to continue developmental projects in the state from where he stopped.

“I already explained that there is unfinished business. The clock of progress and development in Ekiti stopped in October 2014. (My) coming back is to restart the clock and get it back to the developmental trajectory. What we have witnessed in Ekiti in the last four years is arrested development.

“When I say reclaiming the land, it is not just about the physical reclamation of any land, it is about the reclamation and restoration of the values of our people.

“It is a return to decency, decorum and dignity. A return to a sense of self-worth and self-respect. A return to respect for our elders and traditional institution. It is a return to seriousness in government,” he said.

CareerExxonmobil Staff Protest Sack Of 860 Spy Police by 16Ebisco(op): 9:45am On Jul 14, 2018
Aggrieved Staff of ExxonMobil in Akwa Ibom state on Friday took to the streets over the sack of 860 spy police in the company without entitlements.

The protest which started at about 8 am had the Mobil Housing Estate at Marina road, Eket Local council blocked by protesters carrying placards with various inscriptions such as “ExxonMobil sacked 860 Nigerian workers after over 22 years of slave labour,” “ExxonMobil respect the rule of law”, “Supreme Court of Nigeria is higher than ExxonMobil.”

Other inscriptions include, “ExxonMobil comply with Supreme Court Judgement”, “Calculated disobedience of supreme court judgement on its employees is an insult to the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, “ExxonMobil masters of slave labour, ” among others.

Mr Okon Johnson, chairman, Security Workforce of ExxonMobil expressed his displeasure over the action of the company and expressed disappointment over the injustice done to the affected workers who had entrusted their lives and property to the company.

Johnson, however, urged the company to comply with the Supreme Court judgement of April 20, 2018, which ruled that the company should reabsorb the 860 spy policemen and reward long-serving personnel.

“The Management of ExxonMobil calls us today for a meeting at Eden Hotel and they addressed us that emails will be sent us. In the meeting, the multinational company told us that the company has acknowledged us as staff and working to implement the supreme court judgement.

“After the meeting, surprisingly as we were going back to our offices, we noticed that ExxonMobil has already withdrawn our access badge and we can not have access to the premises of the company,” he said.

He said that they would not end the peaceful protest until the company reabsorbs the 860 staff and implement their entitlements.

“Our demand is for the company to fully comply with the judgement of the Apex court. The Apex court should be respected and if the company is doing this, that means it is disrespectful to the nation, the Supreme Court and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Johnson said.

PoliticsGod Is Great: Doctor And His Driver Survive Miraculously After Tanker Fell And C by 16Ebisco(op): 11:11am On Jul 13, 2018
A doctor and his driver miraculously survived after his car was crushed when a tanker fell from the Ojuelegba bridge and landed on cars, killing commuters, on June 19, 2018.

Professor Olufemi Adetola Fasanmade was one of those affected in the crash. His car was badly crushed. But he and his driver managed to come out alive from the car.

Fred Chukwuelobe, a friend of Professor Fasanmade, shared a photo of the badly damaged car and gave a testimony on behalf of the professor.

He wrote:

“MIRACLE STILL HAPPENS.

THANK GOD FOR MY DOCTOR AND FRIEND, PROF. Olufemi Adetola Fasanmade who miraculously survived this terrible accident. An articulated vehicle fell on top of his car, crushing it and not him.

He and his driver came out of this mangled car with minor injuries. Praise God.

Prof. Fasanmade, an endocrinologist and an amiable human being, treats my mother and my family. I recall each time I go visiting him, we discuss the challenges confronting our beleaguered nation. He’s so passionate about this country and will always tell me how he looked forward to the day our country will come out of the woods.

Unlike many doctors who see themselves as next to God, Prof. Fasanmade is approachable and is also ready to help at the shortest notice. He can diagnose and prescribe medicine for you in an emergency without asking for deposit. On many occasions and in crisis situations, he has had to come to my mother’s aid even without seeing her. Once she’s stabilised, he’d would ask that I bring her to the hospital for him to see and follow up.

You can imagine my excitement when I learnt he was the one in this car which was crushed by a care less articulated vehicle driver.

I am so overjoyed that I’m sharing this post in celebration of a miraculous survival of my dear friend.
I am so happy that he’s alive and well and will continue to provide healthcare to the people who rely on him in a country where healthcare provision is a tall dream.

Please join me in thanking God for their survival.

PoliticsEkiti Election: Police Attack On Fayose, Defenseless Citizens A Disgrace – INEC by 16Ebisco(op): 9:01pm On Jul 12, 2018
A coalition of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) accredited observers for the Ekiti election has described the reported police attack on Governor Ayodele Fayose as a disgrace to democracy.

Riot-policeman had on Wednesday fired canisters of tear gas to disperse a crowd of supporters of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, including the governor and his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

The governor claimed that the was slapped and beaten by some policemen who hit him with the butt of a gun.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Operations, Mr. Habilal Joshak, while justifying why the crowd was dispersed told journalists that PDP did not obtain permit for the rally.

“We are not going to allow any unauthorised rally that can trigger violence in the state. You can see that the state is tensed up.

“As law enforcement agents, we must be proactive and take actions that can prevent crisis rather than trying to quell it after it might have broken out,” Joshak said.

But addressing journalists on Thursday in Ado Ekiti on behalf of a Coalition of 15 INEC observer groups, the Executive Director of Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizen Awareness, Dr. Nwambu Gabriel, said police should have used other means to handle the situation instead of using tear gas and live bullets.

He said, “As part of our pre-election observation, we observed the violence and the use of tear gas and firing of live bullets to disperse a rally organised by the PDP.”

The Executive Director of African Initiative, Kalu Victor, said the “event was a disgrace to democracy.”

“There are other measures the security agencies could have taken instead of using tear gas. Inhaling of tear gas could have led to instant death by someone having asthma.”

“The police should see it as a community thing. Causing tension in the society is unnecessary.”

The coalition urged security agencies to arrest anyone involved in vote-buying during the election for prosecution to serve as deterrent to others

“Political parties, candidates and supporters should conduct themselves in line with the code of conduct. We reiterate calls to refrain from violence,” the group said.

PoliticsNo Deliberate Killings Of Nigerians In South Africa-president Ramaphosa by 16Ebisco(op): 10:39am On Jul 12, 2018
President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa on Wednesday declared that the killing of Nigerians and other foreign nationals in the country was an act of criminality, not specifically targeted at Nigerians.

He gave the explanation while addressing state House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

According to Ramaphosa, the killings are caused by high level of unemployment among the youth as well as other social factors emanating from long apartheid misrule while government is doing all best possible to bring it down.

“These are acts of criminality. When we were involved in our struggle we said the South Africa that we are fighting for is the South Africa which will regard everyone who lives in South Africa on the basis of equality, respect for human rights.

“And we said that South Africa belongs to all the people who live in it; so the Nigerians who are in South Africa are also part of our community.

“They can never be targeted on intentional basis as people who must either be attacked or killed.

“When that happens I would like us to see that as acts of criminality which in the main affects many South Africans in various parts of our country.

“So see it in that regard and I would like that you should never think that it is being done against Nigerians intentionally.

“It is an act of criminality and our government is determined to bring down the levels of criminality and also to go after those who perpetrate these acts of criminality so that anyone who attacks any person in South Africa will be pursued with the might of the law to make sure that they are brought to justice and to book.’’

The President acknowledged that there were quite a lot of incidents in his country where foreign nationals, some of whom are Nigerians had lost their lives and had been attacked.

“And I will like to say here and now that that has been as a result of criminal activity amongst our own people, which we are focusing on from a criminal element point of view.

“I want to say it here right now that South Africans do not have any form of negative disposition or hatred toward Nigerians and the main, Nigerians and South Africans in a number of places of our country live side by side.

“They cooperate very well and some are in the corporate structures of our various countries and some are traders and some do a whole number of things.

“So I want to dispel this notion that when a Nigerian loses his or her live in South Africa it is as a result of an intentional sort of action by South Africans against Nigerians. That is simply not true,’’ he added.

He noted that South Africa had a number of challenges. “One of the challenges is criminality and which is all pervasive.’’

PoliticsPastor Ashimolowo Claims Libyans Not Responsible For Killings, Warns Buhari To S by 16Ebisco(op): 10:16pm On Jul 10, 2018
The Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC), Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, on Tuesday disagreed that growing killings of innocent Nigerians in some parts of Benue, Plateau and Kaduna States by herdsmen, were being perpetrated by terrorists from Libya.

Speaking during an interview in Osogbo with journalists on the sideline of a programme tagged “Building The Broken Wall” organised by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Osun State chapter, Ashimolowo emphasised that “Nigerians should vote their conscience and use their voting power in the coming elections”.

According to him, “those who govern us should please realise that Nigeria is blessed with so many resources. Let them give attention to what helps the masses instead of a lot of infighting, arguments and we waste so much time.

“I know we are pursuing and fighting corruption. I have said this three years ago. I think this government should do what is called the Pareto principle, spend 20 per cent of your time on your past pursuing those evils, but spend 80 per cent on building your future.”

Ashimolowo continued, “because no man focuses on his rearview mirror and moves fast. If you keep looking back, your speed would be slow. Corruption you would think started with the current government. No. I have a book written by Peter Enahoro on how to be a Nigerian. It was written in 1961, it is the description of today. We are not celebrating corruption, but we are saying we need better roads, electricity, economy, education and we need the engineering system of Nigeria to work and good environment for agriculture to thrive.”

While tasking the Christians to be actively involved in politics, the cleric stated that “as a 66-year-old Nigerian, born in the North, raised in the South, I beg to differ with anyone who says that the destruction of Plateau, Benue and Kaduna states is carried out by Arabs from Libya. Why did they cross Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa and all these Islamic states?”

PoliticsAtiku Counsels R-APC, PDP, Others On Next Action After Mou Against Buhari by 16Ebisco(op): 12:53pm On Jul 10, 2018
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar says more work needs to be done to ensure the success of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the various opposition parties.

The main objective of the agreement is to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.

Atiku, who earlier on Monday hailed the partnership, advised on what should be done next to ensure that the set goals were achieved.

His counsel was contained in a statement by his media office.

Atiku commended the Prince Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for having the foresight to bring together Nigeria’s opposition parties under one big umbrella.

“I wholeheartedly endorse this exercise and look forward to a spirit of collaboration amongst ourselves as we continue the campaign for the deliverance of Nigeria from the forces of retrogression, recession, division and blame games.

“It might be a cliche, but it still remains true that unity is strength and that only team work can make the dream work. I refer to the dream of our Founding Fathers for an indivisible united country that is progressive and founded on unity and faith.

“Much work needs to be done. Sadly, in the last three years, Nigeria has become the world head quarters of extreme poverty.

“We must thus rub our heads and minds together to ensure that by 2019, extreme poverty is on its way to becoming history even as we usher in extreme peace, progress and prosperity in its place,’’ the statement read in part.

Atiku commended all those who made the event a reality.

“You have etched your names in the sands of time and Nigeria will be better off because of your actions,’’ he said.

Politics2019: DPP, APDA Speak On Coalition by 16Ebisco(op): 10:44am On Jul 09, 2018
The Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) and the Advanced People Democratic Alliance (APDA) on Sunday denied being in coalition with any political party or group ahead of the 2019 elections.

National Chairmen of both political parties told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) separately in Abuja that they were not part of any coalition and urged members of the parties and the public to discountenance such information.

Mr Benson Garshon of DPP said that his party never had discussion with any individual or group of political parties.

“It has come to our notice that some group of persons decided to list some parties that DPP is joining them to form a coalition.

“The group also said that they will on Monday sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to that effect.

“We are not aware and we are not part of the coalition. We are disassociating our party from it.

“Nobody contacted my party and the DPP has not had any discussion with anybody or group of people.

“Even if we are to do such a thing, the National Executive Council (NEC) will meet to take a decision on what to do.

“We have never contemplated on such issue. Even if we have to, it has to pass through due process of the party administration.

“We completely disassociate ourselves from such decision. We have not entered any alliance with anybody, let alone of signing a MoU, nothing like that,” he said,

Garshon added that DPP would be fielding candidates for 2019 presidential and other elections in accordance to the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) time-table and the Electoral Act.

On his part, APDA’s Malam Shittu Mohammed said that his party was not also involved in any collation either for 2019 or other elections ahead.

Mohammed said APDA was a strong party with members across the country.

“APDA national leadership is neither aware nor party to any discussion or agreement to join a coalition for whatsoever reason.

“Those making the rumour were doing it for interest best known to them. APDA is not part of the said coalition.

“I or any leader of APDA is not aware of the coalition. So, we disassociate ourselves from it,” he said.

PoliticsEkiti 2018: ‘blind Prophet’ Warns Against Subverting God’s, People’s Will by 16Ebisco(op): 7:09am On Jul 08, 2018
A renowned blind cleric, Prophet Muideen Kasali, has warned against subverting the will of the people and that of God in Ekiti on the July 14 governorship election, saying such may scuttle Nigeria’s democracy.

Prophet Kasali also called on the Federal Government to put an end to the insurgency and incessant killings in some parts of the country before the 2019 presidential election.

The popular blind cleric, who is the General Overseer of the Hour of Mercy Prayer Ministry Worldwide (Oke Alaseyori), spoke during the July edition of the monthly Hour of Mercy programme of the church in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

He urged politicians in the state to eschew violence and not turn the state into a battle field in the name of election, saying God will avenge such unwholesome acts on the household of whoever is plotting such.

Speaking further on Ekiti, the cleric said the 2018 governorship election in Ekiti State would be full of surprises.

“God told me mighty men will fall in the election and the humble shall be exalted to bring a man after His heart to succeed Governor Ayodele Fayose. This He said will happen in a miraculous way.

“Politicians must not promote violence in the coming Ekiti election. God said He would visit His anger on the household of whoever does that. The results of the election must not be manipulated.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders in the election must be fair and thorough in their conducts.

“Votes of Ekiti people must be allowed to count. The electoral process must not be manipulated in favour of any candidate and the actual winner declared winner of the election. God told me if the conduct of Ekiti election is fraudulent, the 2019 general election will fail.

“We must be careful to do the right thing concerning Ekiti elections, otherwise, it may mark the end of democracy in the country. Thousands of vision and prophecies may not work, President Muhammdu Buhari must take the issue of security seriously in this country. If adequate security of lives and property cannot be guaranteed, God said we should forget the 2019 elections. ”

He, however, said God promised to prove himself as far as 2019 is concerned but was not told how He will go about it.

On the killer herdsmen activities in the country, the cleric said God is set to intervene in the situation as their operations will be curtailed soon.

“Power will change hands on the activities of the killer herdsmen soon. Their sponsors and promoters will soon be fished out, apprehended and prosecuted. God said we should should relax and see what He is about to do about them.

“What we do not know is that, those that are behind their operations are somewhere plotting to wreak havoc on daily basis, but it is another thing and and different people we are suspecting to be the brains behind the heinous crime they are committing.”

Commenting on the plan by the federal government’s intention to establish cattle ranches across the country to curb herdsmen/farmers clashes, he said that may not be the solution as other groups in the related business could be making such demands which may be difficult for government to meet.

Kasali urged Nigerians to continue to pray for President Buhari, to be able to deliver on his electioneering campaign promises to the people.

PoliticsOhanaeze Reveals South-east Plan On Restructuring by 16Ebisco(op): 9:22am On Jul 07, 2018
The President General of apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nwodo has revealed the pattern of restructuring the people of the South East have agreed upon.

The Ohaneze President-General spoke to reporters in Enugu.

Asked about the fact that some states in South-East are not convinced on restructuring, Nwodo said, “I don’t think you have read the Ohanaeze model on restructuring. It was agreed to by all in Ohanaeze.

“The case of Ebonyi state was tabled before an expanded executive council which included their traditional rulers and leaders of Thought, local government chairmen and they all signed it.

“Ebonyi and Enugu were the two states who were saying if we restructure Nigeria on the basis of regional government, we will be losing our new found freedom and independence but Ohanaeze is saying let us write a constitution amongst the Igbo as to the kind of region we want, a high measure of autonomy.

“Under the western model, the states have sovereignty over their natural resources; that the state take 50 percent of all they get from their natural resources and they give the region 35 percent and give the federal government 15 percent.

“When you go through all these, there is a meeting ground for all of them and I don’t see anybody who will oppose it in the South-east.”

PoliticsOnly Evil-minded People Will Say I Am Condoning Killings By Fulani Herdsmen – Bu by 16Ebisco(op): 11:16am On Jul 06, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said the claims that being a Fulani, he must be encouraging the killings being perpetrated by armed herdsmen in parts of the country seemed to him that there was no limit to the evil in the minds of men.

He wondered how anyone in their right minds would suggest that he, who emerged as President with substantial votes from the affected areas, would do any harm to the same people who voted for him.
Buhari said this while receiving members of the Christian Association of Nigeria from the 19 northern states and Abuja at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President said it was unfair for anybody to accuse his government of not doing anything to stop the killings.

Buhari said, “When some (people), for clearly political purposes, attempt to suggest that this government is doing nothing about the killings, and that I, being Fulani, must be encouraging these satanic acts, it seems to me that there is no limit to the evil in the minds of men.

“Otherwise, how can anyone in their right minds suggest that I, as an elected President even with substantial votes in the affected areas, will for any reason do harm by an act of omission to those same people?

“Secondly, the problems in all these areas, as you all know, are historical. There is no administration that has not had to contend with killings in these same areas over the years.

“Indeed, in 2001, you may recall that after thousands were killed in Plateau State, a state of emergency was declared and a governor was replaced by an administrator. To suggest that our administration is doing nothing is terribly unfair.

“We must not forget that the same Plateau State which has been crisis-ridden for years has in the past three years been celebrated for its peacefulness. The governor’s hard work for peace and the presence of the military’s Operation Safe Haven must have had some impact.”

The President said the government had deployed extra special forces from the Defence Headquarters.

Besides, he said no fewer than three special military intervention forces were currently in the troubled zones.

These forces, he said, were supported with investigative and intelligence gathering capabilities from the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services and other agencies.

Buhari said the military and the police had arrested hundreds of suspects across the various flashpoints in the region and several prosecutions were ongoing.

He added, “The recent killings in Benue, Zamfara and lately Plateau are wicked, condemnable and completely unacceptable acts. We, Nigerians, are religious people and no religion or culture accepts the killing of people for any reason whatsoever.

“This is why we must all rise as one to condemn these vile and wicked acts to ensure that all the culprits are brought to justice.

“We owe it to the memory of those who lost their lives in the violence in Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba, Zamfara and elsewhere since 1999 to bring the conflicts to a decisive end. I assure you that we will do this.

“Let me make it clear that even a single life lost in any part of the country is one too many. I came to office vowing to ensure the protection of lives and property, and I remain committed to this despite the challenges we have experienced.

“I, therefore, seek your support as clerics and religious leaders to join hands with this administration and give us your full support. As you all know, deploying law enforcement agencies is fully our responsibility as a government while creating the platform and mechanisms for dialogue is a collective effort.

“The military and the police have arrested hundreds of suspects across the various flashpoints in the region and several prosecutions are going on. In a number of cases, we have seen convictions.

“Nigerians are right when they say they want to see more convictions and I would like to appeal to the judiciary to help us to fast-track these cases.

The President said government could achieve lasting peace only with the sincere and active cooperation of communities, religious leaders, youths and other stakeholders.

These, he added, included the media in whose hand, he said, “lies the power to frame, shape the perspectives and narratives which influence the thinking of millions of people within and outside Nigeria.”

“Finally, let us collectively shame those who are stoking the fires of ethnic and religious conflicts for their short-term political gains.

“This country belongs equally to Christians and Muslims and even those who claim ignorance of God,” Buhari told his guests.

PoliticsRigging No Longer Possible In Nigeria – APC by 16Ebisco(op): 8:37am On Jul 05, 2018
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has stated that rigging of election was no longer possible in Nigeria.

State chairman, Alhaji Jibrin Imam, said this in an interview with the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Wednesday,

He noted that performance and antecedents would be the determining factors for victories or defeat in forthcoming elections.

“The challenge of winning elections in 2019 will be enormous because Nigerians are now wiser and more politically sophisticated more so now that rigging is impossible.

“We (APC) will ride on our achievements to win election,” Jibrin said.

Imam added that “Facebook and textbook” critics of the administration were only “wasting their time, they are only campaigning for us”.

“We are happy with Mr President. We are happy with what he is doing. That is why we all endorsed him for a second term.

“What we have now is unprecedented in the history of Nigeria, not less than N3 trillion had been spent on development of infrastructure across the country.

“The anti-corruption drive of government has taken root. Nigerians are happy about this crusade,” the APC chieftain said.
