When you live in a community, where persons make up their minds to become suicide bombers, no government on earth can impede such level of wickedness, without adopting measures like they have in Israel.

How many Americans are killing themselves daily with hand guns? Why can't they be protected?
As if Nigerians are not killed by hand guns on daily basis, armed robbers, kidnappers and now let's add BH killing with guns and bombs.
And how many Americans are killed by bombs?

Americans have not allowed the level of Islamic madness allowed in this country. 9-11 is there, as a constant reminder.

President Bush and his advisers sat down and went to work. He championed Patriot Act, homeland Security, TSA, etc.And we are asking GEJ to start with the foundation and folks are calling us name. His administration awarded a$470 million contract for CCTV that's not working. What has GEJ done to reserve this contract and install fully functional units?

You will never get it. They have killed more Christians and southerners in Abuja than in Sokoto. They have caused more problems and carnage in Abuja than Sokoto.

Don't be a shmuck, Bush had patriotic soldiers at his beck and call. What's the use passing Patriot Act etc that will be disregarded by a region and an army hell bent on causing chaos because they don't have the presidency?

Go back and review the year $470M contract was awarded, and who awarded it? How do you know the contract has not been revisited and technical issues involved with the implementation. Can you pass a patriot act in Nigeria, without causing a religious/tribal war.

Common sense is not common. They are not killing themselves- they are killing everyone irrespective of religion, tribe, region. Nya-Nya motor parks are not only used by Muslims? Emab plaza is owned by a businessman from south east. Most of the shoppers that go to Emab come from everywhere in Naija.

jaz: lets face the hard facts the tell ourselves the hard truth:
- GEJ has failed woefully as a president and has no business being a leader of the nigerian people
- GEJ has enocuraged and propagated corruption and looting of public funds to a extent only experienced under Abacha
- GEJ has proved that the zoning of political office is a farce and not the best for us as a country. let the best man win.
- GEJ should be tried for corruption post-office
- GEJ has limited respect for constitution when it comes to corruption. just look at the several scandals of executives vs legislature
- GEJ can not and will not restore peace or security to Northern Nigeria neither will he have our kidnapped women and children returned
- GEJ will not bring an end to corruption or Boko Haram in Nigeria
- Corrupt political office holders must be tried and imprisoned for change to take effect. The psyche in Nigeria regarding corruption is the blackest i know of. people like Abacha, Banbagida, Atiku, Daniel (former Ogun state Gov), Tinubu, Obasanjo, et all must be made to account for their ill gotten wealth and made a lesson to future aspirant.
- Nigeria is being milked all in the name of politics. Political office should be remunerated at civil servant wages with strict monitoring and audit of public finances
More to be said, in the meantime i rest my case...

You are blessed. They know but careless.I hate every living Nigeria politicians since the post 1999 era, regardless which ethnic or region.

The one a block away from Emab hadn't been working when terrorists struck. Minister of FCT was telling individuals to install their own CCTVs. The ones at MMA don't work, was at their parking lot. We demand for actions that can be seen and you guys ask to go and read about them on paper.
U cited US example first. Bush hadn't dealt with terrorism b4 9/11. Why can't GEJ be the first president to do? Why are we making excuses for him when he hasn't tried to introduce or implement any policies?

Nope, this person spewing rubbish is educated. The problem with Naija is that we have "it's my turn to loot mentality. Abach and OBJ did it, therefore, GEJ can do it.

The absence of CCTV did not cause the bombing at the mall. The religious wickedness of certain groups of people got us here. CCTV has never stopped any suicide bombing on earth, it only helps apprehend the parties responsible.

Part of the money to launder the image of Jonathan's presidency did not get to New York Post - that's New York Post's wahala here. Else how many times did New York Post carry editorials on the events in all the country's of the world? By the way, a government setting out to launder its image in the Western world and elsewhere is no offence.

Why award $470m to cronies when you knew that it would not stop anything?
Proactively, it's a tool for crime fighting. It could have prevented 2nd Nya-Nya bombing. It could have helped in capturing of Emab bombing

The CCTV contract was for crime prevention. It was not 100% shield against crime. By the way the major program with CCTV is a frequency problem, the engineers are working on it. The 2nd Nyanya bombing like every other bombing, will be stoppable when Islamic mad men repent. Some of you don't understand the problem, we are currently facing in this country.

1. This has nothing to do with Nigeria but more about Nigerian and bad leadership.

2. GEJ appointed his own service chiefs and his service chiefs are yet to give Nigerians return on their investments.

3. The military trying to fool Nigerians and lying to Nigerians that they rescued the missing girls was unpatriotic and Jonathan refusing to punish or fire the liars and the people involved was equally unpatriotic.

4. Sending Nigerian military men to fight Boko Haram without proper tools to fight with and on empty stomach is unpatriotic.

5. You can not blame the leaders and the people in the states involved simply because at the end of the day, Jonathan is the president and he swore oath to protect every Nigerian including every soul living in the affected states regardless and if he can not do just that, why not just step aside.

6. Jonathan declared state of emergency int he affected states which means Jonathan is in charge of the same affected states, it means he assumed all responsibilities, it means the states are under executive and military rule so it's pretty much ignorant and pointless to point accusing finger at other people.

7. The fact that Boko Hram operates freely and openly for hours in the same states where Jonathan and his military remains in charge and under state of emergency and curfew means they are either worthless, incompetent or just uncaring.

8. You yourself in your corner of Nigeria far far away from the affected states are not safe simply because Jonathan can not protect just 3 out of 36 states.

9. Many Nigerians have died due to bombings in Abuja so who do you blame for that and how safe are you since the Nigerian military and the president can not protect his own immediate vicinity in Abuja where he sleeps?

10. When passing laws, there always obstacles regardless. In the US when they passed the Patriot act, there was oppositions and and lawsuits against the US government everywhere, but the courts sided with the and the people agreed that they must be protected regardless.

Leaders do the right thing always regardless of societal issues and oppositions. ...but so far, the only thing the president did was hiring an American company to repaint his dirty image.

But the same dirty old wine in new bottle is still the same dirty old wine we all know and see on display everyday.

I'm quite disappointed with this newsbit.
If they weren't going to input anything constructive than this blame, they had better sheathed their pens.
In the face of these threats, the last thing we will welcome is external pen pressure.
Nigerians generate enough mass 'pressure' as it seems.
Must we bring party politics into every topic?
Wt has this got to do wi APC?are u saying the person behind the write-up can not think for himself?

This useless man goofs all the time, he disgraces and embarrass Nigerians everyday, but unfortunately for Nigerians, he's spending their money to clean up his mess while at the same time making a fool of himself all over again.

Money and image laundering can not buy competence, money can not not buy brains and good judgment, money can not stop or erase your corrupt ways like covering corruption, protecting and appointing corrupt people to work for you.

The stupid editorial you wasted our money on wont stop you from goofing tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, it wont even bring back our girls.

Our military boys and girls are underpaid and ill equipped, but you refused to support and yield to their needs and instead you are spending tons of tax payers money to clean up what you really can not clean because you are naturally incompetent and corrupt.

You can not keep asking the world to see you in a different light while at the same time not doing what you are supposed to do.

It cost nothing for Nigerians and the world to see you in a good light, you don't even have to buy their attention, your work and efforts is enough to buy all the good image on the surface of the earth.

In your Op-Ed, you said you are care and returning the girls to their parents is your immediate priority, but this is a lie not only because for weeks you refused to admit that the girls were missing, you refused to say a word or console Nigerians and instead went dancing in Kano, your own wife and the woman you sleep with not only didn't believe that the girls were missing, she used tax payers funded TV and media to ridicule and abuse them on National TV.

Why not let the world see your efforts?

Why not let the world see you showing bravery and leadership?

Why not rescue the girls first and let the world make up their own mind if you really are a caring man or not?

Why not let the world see you fight corruption with all the tools at your disposal?

Why not stop protecting and shielding the corrupt people you hang around with?

Why not stop making childish, idiotic, foolish and irresponsible statements like stealing is not corruption?

You can not buy goodwill with money, let your actions speak for you, let the world see you at work, let the world see you showing leadership, let the world see you bring back our girls, let the world see you fight corruption and put corrupt people in jail, let the world see you stop appointing and surrounding yourself with corrupt people.

All the above steps cost nothing so stop wasting taxpayers money on fools gold.

after all dis he still wnts to contest 2015 election. Bt is Jonathan high?

Answers:

1, Goodluck Jonathan has performed better than his predecessors in office since return of democratic governance in 1999; and this, despite the war declared against his presidency from day one.

2, Goodluck Jonathan's presidency is the most financially transparent since the return of democracy to Nigeria - Goodluck Jonathan has not headed the Petroleum Ministry, unlike his predecessors.

3, Goodluck Jonathan has proved that minorities in Nigeria have a right to political leadership of Nigeria, and that highest political office cannot be held by only the ever-disagreeing three major tribes of Nigeria through their zoning of the presidency between the non existent north/south divide.

4, Goodluck Jonathan has not been proven anywhere to have stolen Nigeria's money since he became president; Nigeria's prosecuting offices have to try any Nigerian they found involved in corrupt practices.

5, Goodluck Jonathan has no limited respect for Nigeria's constitution, not withstanding the fact that the constitution is a one military man's constitution; he balances respect for the constitution with realities of insecurity in today's Nigeria.

6, Goodluck Jonathan can restore peace to northern Nigeria if there are no saboteurs for insurgents who imperil the lives of Nigeria's soldiers.

7, Goodluck Jonathan can end corruption in Nigeria if the Police, EFCC, and other policing agencies working for Nigeria arrest and prosecute corrupt people. Not long ago, the EFCC made a public release that Goodluck Jonathan had not for a day stopped it from arresting or prosecuting any corrupt person. Goodluck Jonathan can end Boko Haram, but for the religious and ethnic cleavages in Nigeria.

8, I agree with you that corrupt public officers in Nigeria must be tried (arrested first) and if found guilty, imprisoned by the appropriate government agencies - not by Goodluck Jonathan.
