slap1: The Nigerian Army is still strong when it goes for foreign peace-keeping.
However, blood is thicker than water. They have a stake in the Boko Haram saga. Some of the commanders are making millions from security votes; some of the foot-soldiers are sworn Bokoists.

Thing about peacekeeping....in most(not all) instances you go there after the diplomats have hammered out a peace....your job is to act as glorified policeman.

You are listening to Western Propaganda. All because Abacha refused all IMF loans, that act alone should indicate to you that he was not a looter- what self-respecting looter would turn down a loan? think about it.

Or they never faced a formidable enemy like Boko haram.

People shouldnt confuse frequent acts of murder and massacres of d innocent with bravado. Those are crimes our troops are known to commit with AK47.

Boko haram is the army's first real test since the civil war and they have failed embarrassingly through mass desertion.

They want the airforce to just come and bomb boko haram so they can flee.

If boko haram was any more determined they would have taken Abuja by now.

The reason the army haven't stopped Book haram is simple...sabotage from within. They have members within them that are sympathetic to book haram cause. Boko haram, despite their high poverty, has military grade weapons and noone knows where the hell they getting it from. We've heard some stories how boko haram committs some of their atrocity in nigerian military attire in order to decieve the citizens. Also didn"t the last nigerian troops armbushed by boko haram was done some on a mission that was nevet authorized. Even the admitted they have leaks in their adminstrations but unfortunately, they don't know who or what to start blaming.

1) Nigerdelta militants and BH knows what makes the Nigerian Military thick and have strategize on how to take them down which is what other armed groups in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Somalia etc never did.

What are those things that make the Nigerian military thick

(A) air superiority which militants and most especially BHs have countered using anti-aircraft guns.

(B) Artillery barrage which have being countered by missing up with the non-combat population.

(C) Tanks which have being countered using anti-tank weapons.

(D) Mass attack similar to Japanese Banzai charge which have being countered by shooting thousands of bullets in the direction of the charge.

Other tactics employed by these armed groups are

A) guerrilla tactics esp ambush

B) guerrilla-conventional tactics

C) conventional tactics

D) mass attack against small units in other words deploying more attackers in the ratio let's say at least 5 attackers to 1 defender.

Please explain more
Because the muslims up north have been SILENTLY enjoying the boko carnage.
you are somewhere in the south or west and talk as if you see or know what is happening in the North...
soldiers are dying, losing their family members, Muslims are dying and you said they are enjoying boko carnage. wished you are from maiduguri.
Truly majority of Nigerian Army is made up of Northerners
and majority of northerners are Muslims
do you think our soldiers are happy with all this stuff?
they can't live a peaceful life in the North anymore
...
security bill is higher than both Education and Health
but still our soldiers and JTF are complaining
(who would risk his or her life, when you are not fully motivated? they don't pay you in time and you are paid penny)
now our dear GEJ is asking for $1billion loan to fight boko
and he once said they are in the Government
....
after years of killing and insurgents by this Terror group. its now he needs $1billion to fight boko
or he needs the money for campaign, rigging and sorting.
cuz I don dey see campaign poster for abj
and I don dey hear for radio

oduastates: From being one of the crackiest ,most courageous and result oriented troops to the present pitiable state. From an army capable if rubbing shoulders with the best in the world to a tool for election rigging , oil bunkering etc.
They were so badass that special punishments were usually reserved for Nigerian soldiers when they were captured wherever they were operating.
1)In Seirra leone , the army landed at Freetown airport at dawn in a number of Hercules C130 aircraft, took control of the airport and started fanning out into strategic positions in the city ;starting from the approaches to the airport. They battled street by street until the drove out the rebels out of Freetown.
In Somalia ,a platoon of Nigeria soldiers single handedly held and fought to the last man against a massive column of insurgents while the Europeans troop nearby ran away and left them to their fate.
In Liberia , Nigeria troops landed right into the middle of a senseless war with no clear friend or foe and fought block by block, city by city ,swamp by swamp ,jungle by jujngle.
Many lost their lives in the process . While the usual corruption was there ,but these men fought and fought hard.

What exactly has changed that they are unable to fight a group of terrorists who attack military bases in numbers (which means that conventional military methods can be used to destroy them )?

You cannot compare Boko haram to the Revolutionary United Front aka 'Ruff riders' Led by Foday Sankoh,a seasoned war-vet.Most of the rebel group consisted of regular sierra leonian sandhurst-trained soldiers who had control of the diamond trade deep inside the hinterland close to the borders with Liberia. These guys were well funded and brutal such that amputating or decapitating their captives military or civilian was common place, even Hollywood made a block busting movie starring Leonado di caprio about these goons "blood diamonds"....We are looking at a sleeping giant situation here whereby bokoharam are reluctanct on a frontal assault and occupation of Maiduguri never mind Abuja that is a battle we can win and not these assymetrical warfare whose intricacies we are still grappling with..

Over the recent years, the level of security in Nigeria has diminished. Cases like kidnapping, armed robbery and even bombings are no longer news to us and its sort of expected if these events happen at least once a day.
This is why the good people at Delgrem Incorporation came up with the Naija Rescue Alert App (9RA).
The Naija Rescue app is a security and personal safety app that provides emergency services to help you stay safe and secure no matter where you are.
The 9RA SOS alerts acts as an emergency alert device, personal location tracker and incident reporting tool all in one app.In an emergency or risky situation, With a click of a button, 9RA immediately sends out a pre-programmed SMS alert message to your contacts, including the exact geographic location and map.
9RA does not charge any on going fees, just a one off fee of $1.99, and the product is yours for download. Some of the benefits of using the 9RA include:
Send an emergency alert when in danger
Call authorities at the press of one button
Share your location using social media.
Act as a medic alert
The 9RA is available for Android devices and can de downloaded from the Google Play Store. You can also download a free version of this app by clicking on the link below.

All of you saying Muslims in the military assist Boko Haram with intelligence are not thinking right. Have Boko Haram spared any soldier because of religion? Please grow up. Have Boko Haram spared anybody due to Religion? Boko Haram do not care who you are! An extended family to a friend was caught by Boko Haram on the road to Damaturu the very day he was leaving Maiduguri finally. Boko Haram carried out a Major operation that hit the news that day. He was caught with his family. He tried all he could to convince them that he was Muslim, reciting the Quran, quoting Hadiths all in vain. They killed him in the presence of his family! His children do not know what was going on! They were asking the mother why the father was sleeping on the ground! So wake Up! Boko Haram do not care your religion. No Muslim soldier is stupid enough to help killers like Boko Haram

Do you know that the money returned were never proven in any court to belong to Abacha?

The same way a 419er would decline a money sent to him/her if he or she thinks it's a set up. The same an arm dealer would walk away from a lucrative arm deal if he or she thinks its a set up. The same way drug dealers walk away from alot of drugs if he or she thinks its a drug bust set up. All criminals are known to refuse a lucrative money making tactics of their crimes if they believe it'll expose them. Abacha refusing the IMF loans means nothing other than the fact he probably thought his corruption would be easily detected if he stole from those funds. Simple as that.

His loots were discovered slowly in different times during different presidents of that Nigeria and you telling us, each and everyone of them is out there to paint Abacha black. Are you serious? Do you honestly believe that story would fly? I highly highly doubt everyone is in some kind of conspiracy to make Abacha look like the worst looter out of all presidents Nigeria had

You still believe there's a Muslim in nigeria that sympathizes with BH after the situation they put Islam in? Oh I forgot, you know the truth but regardless of it you just chose to hate the faith and it's followers, but don't worry we Muslims see BH as infidels so we killed them at sight just the way we eliminate anyone who's our enemy. I'm sure u know what I mean?
Thou shall not kill. Love your neighbour as yourself. Do good to those that hate you, even your enemy...............Those whom you see as your enemy today can be ur best friend tomorrow
