Well bro am actually a science student to the core but I read everything that comes my way, I mean anything(koran, Bible, Novels, dictionary, newspapers, porn magazine sef etc) mehn just be ursef, we all started from humble beginnings. I was editing my first story and I saw the bloody mistakes I was doing, twas damn funny mehn. Trust ursef, u can make it o.

Been a science student is not an excuse, it can be an advantage@ leonard. For example, am a microbiology student, yet I write fictional stories that are not of my field. Do a lot of reading first, try writing ( which you have started) and get feedbacks from guys at Nairaland. More importantly, be original and creative, let the stories flow from within and have a general scope of what you are writing.


I will also advice you join Naijastories.com, it is a purely literature site and it can help. Be prepared for criticism, but use the constructive ones and ignore the rest. But start something first!

How to become a good writer, first of all, I'll say love, you've got to have great passion for writing, so much passion that you want to create your own story, you want to control your characters words and actions and make them impact the reader.

Dnt overthink yourself or you'll get frustrated, just flow easily but not boringly. You've still got to think, plan your story, pack your punches (as in unexpected twists and turns that will hit your readers) and release them every once in a while. For me, I like every chapter to be memorable so I put in something that will either make the reader laugh, frown, love or hate.

also, get a sounding board, a friend or friends, talk to them about your story, your characters, they can give more ideas and help especially when you are stumped.

But most of all be true to yourself, don't copy anyone and always strive to improve on your own self.
