114billion Naira!: Ngige Faults Jonathan On 2nd Niger Bridge by earthgreeners(m): 7:42am On Jul 29, 2014 |
The Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Power, Dr Chris Ngige, has faulted President Goodluck Jonathan on the construction of the 2nd Niger bridge on the grounds that the estimated cost of N114 billion for the project was highly inflated. Speaking on the occasion of the swearing in of the new state and local government executives of Anambra State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Awka, Ngige said the estimated cost was a rip off on the economy of the country, saying the project would have cost N70 billion on PPP arrangement. He said: “I did not go for the ground breaking of the 2nd Niger bridge because it is been built on PPP arrangement and because the cost of the project suffered double inflation from the Nigeria government and the foreign financier partner. Ngige said: “With this arrangement, the financier would like to recoup his money by building toll gate there which he would collect for 25 years. Kicks against tolling “Each vehicle passing to and fro would be expected to pay N1000. How can that bridge and road be the only toll gate bridge in Nigeria when the federal government had built such bridges in and around the country free off charge.” Ngige cited the Ediba- Itigidi bridge which the federal government built for the people of the area without any cost, saying the present federal government of President Jonathan had made the people of the South East third class citizens. Slams the Federal Government on rising unemployment Besides, the former governor of Anambra State chided Jonathan’s government for not creating employment for the unemployed graduates in the country, describing it as a cankaworm that was responsible for various crimes in the society. “The money bags politicians are back to throw money around. If they give you money, take but do not sell your conscience. Remain committed and focussed,” he said. Muoghalu advised the new executive not to abuse the power given to them by the party and counseled members to always channel their complaint to the executive instead of causing crisis in the party. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/07/ngige-faults-jonathan-2nd-niger-bridge/#sthash.E0b2EOjH.gbJTRVzx.dpuf 4 Likes |

Why did'nt he bulid the bridge while he was the governor of Anambra and get re-imbursed by the federal government. since it would cost ONLY N70 billion via PPP. A governor in one of the south-south states has reconstructed and expanded numerous federal roads worth billions of naira that the government abandoned for years and got re-embursed... And while he was a governor, What was his contribution towards the agitation for a second niger bridge? The second Niger bridge ''story'' was not even a popular one, until someone came up with the idea... They are now ranting as if it were today that the old bridge went bad. Maybe he should take a trip from Akwa Ibom to Edo and count the number of bridges that have sprung up on the east west road. Dr. Chris Ngige, Keep faulting.. GEJ keeps achieving. 36 Likes |

Rantings of a frustrated loser. Let the bridge be ready first before we discuss about the tolling. Btw, I never read anywhere Ngige condemned the toll bridges and roads that fashola and tinubu are operating in Lagos. 16 Likes |

Chris Ngige is an efulefu and a saboteur. We Igbos are solidly behind our son Goodluck Ebele 'Azikiwe' Jonathan. If Gej does not build the 2nd Niger Bridge for us, we igbos will still vote for him If Gej does not build the onitcha seaport he promised us during his 2011 election campaign, we igbos will still vote for him If Gej neglects the Umuahia-Akwa ibom road within the Abia state axis which is the worst federal road in Nigeria, we igbos will still vote for him. Vote Goodluck EBOLA Jonathan 36 Likes |
