Our government won't allowed it to happen, because they know what is their profit from all the network provider per annum. That is why our call rate is quit expensive.

If it happens Nigerians we break record, we will be on Guinness book of record, we like internet a lot.

After reading this, I'll say shame on MTN Nigeria because I'm quite convinced they won't be quick to welcome this idea till they can prove me wrong. All the same, I see the price of internet falling to zero or almost with initiatives like this, and Project Loon. It's just a matter of time that this capitalistic mentality towards the internet will be shaken to it's roots. At least, if you can't provide quality public education that is affordable, provide internet which people can use to educate themselves. The issue is that the end users wouldn't sabotage the opportunity to chat and view irrelevant stuffs and share gossips around the internet.

Akainzo:

While you lampooned the guy for his opinion, you then went on to stare your own opinion as if it was fact. Otherwise, Who did the data collection, from the comfort of your home or the places you visit?

I travel across the nation frequently and I do have data on all the providers. From my usage, Airtel definitely provides the most stable, consistent and fast internet.

Remember that there are location based differences but overall, Airtel delivers the best experience.

and how sure are you thhat i didnt go out into the field to gather my data? i really doubt your result...airtel definitely has the most coverage of 3.7g network across Nigeria but not the fastest averagely, there are certainly places you will get a very fast airtel network but on the average...its poor

adewasco2k: Facebook has just revealed its first mobile app that will help Africans get online free via its initiative internet.org which was launched last year to help developing countries have access to cheap internet.

The initiative is first releasing its first app in Zambia, the app is currently android base, it gives free access to cool internet base web services totally free.
The app will allow users have access to online web services like:

• Wikipedia
• Google search
• Facebook
• AccuWeather
• Go Zambia Jobs
• Kokoliko
• MAMA (Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action)
• Messenger
• WRAPP (Women’s Rights App) and
• Zambia uReport

Facebook’s boss said in his post that “Right now, only 15% of people in Zambia have access to the internet. Soon, everyone will be able to use the internet for free to find jobs, get help with reproductive health and other aspects of health, and use tools like Facebook to stay connected with the people they love.”

But currently the free internet access will be for only Airtel Africa customers in Zambia.
Nigerians will be waiting patiently for this awesome service.

I think Globacom will be the best company to partner with Facebook on this initiative in Nigeria, what do you guys think?

adewasco2k:

if its ot fast in your area doesn't mean it is not everywhere

if you want to rate Nigerian;s major mobile internet providers judging by speed

1. Etisalat
2. GLO
3. MTN
4. Airtel

i might though be a little be bias in my rating owing to the fact that i person like GLO as some people will say MTN is faster than GLO (i know its close but i will still choose GLO wink )

also this is not just a rating base on my location but collective data from different states, and areas.

Very true and correct!
