I have read about and heard stories of children having sexual experience very young. Some here on NL and also many friends have said they had sex at a very young age with an age mate, older friend or family member. Some said they had sex as young as 5.

I'm wondering why this seems to be so prevalent. A few friends have said they grew up sleeping in the same room or even the same bed with parents and siblings. These friends said they often listened to or watched their parents have sex.

I know a family in Ikorodu. Three small children and the mum and dad. They can only afford a one bedroom flat and they all sleep in the same bed. My friend said they wait for the children to fall asleep then have sex quietly in the bed so they don't wake the kids.

In addition to watching their parents, i think the media also has a strong influence on a child in his formative years. Reason why tv programs are censored.

Then there's peer influence. This however would be from an affected child to a seemingly clueless one. One time i saw my neighbour's kid of 4 being fingered by an older 10yrs old kid (both girls).

Another is the growing rate of pedophilia. Why adults will choose to have intimate relations with a child is beyond my comprehension, but lf this isn't checked--and by this i mean getting the abused child proper psychological help--ot could affect him/her negatively: one way would be to leave them exposed to other intimate abuse to/from others, and the other is to make them fearful that they become literally useless to anybody else even in adulthood.

Definitely it isn't any bit appropriate for parents to have sex in the same room or on the same bed with kids around as they run a very high risk of having their kids witnessing a lotta explicit stuffs. But with the high cost of living in Nigeria, especially the huge cost of getting accommodation in cities like Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt etcs, parents without much funds have little or no choice but to live, sleep and f**k in the same room with their kids.

Errrr I think to a certain extent it does contribute to young kids displaying sexual behaviour but I do not think it is the major reason for it. I feel the major reason is because parents over here don't really care much what movies their kids are watching or they are too busy to monitor the kind of activities or things their kids indulge in with other kids. Movies censored as +18 is watched by everyone at home including the kids and whenever these kids are alone playing together, they tend to practise what they learnt from the TV. Parents carelessly leaving porn tapes and pictures around is another prevalent thing over here. This to me is the major reason why kids tend display intimate behaviour at a young age.

I think you misunderstood some of my words Tex. When I say parents watch +18 movies with their kids, I mean they watch errrrrrr normal movies with short intimate scenes in between. Kids after watching some of these short scenes try it out with their other friends and cycle goes on and on, especially when they discover the acts are actually enjoyable.

I think it is, as you said earlier, exposure of these children that makes them go into it.
I remember, when I was around 11...It was introduced to me by my cousin, who had been exposed to it.
At first, I resisted but when I was able to witness a live one,by someone close to me- An adult, I rushed to my cousin and told her we should do what the close relative and her boyfriend were doing.
I thank God most of the things we did was romancing, but a knowledge helped me stopped it.
The knowledge of what my mother told me about sex when I was 8 or so. Whenever, I remembered all what she thought me, I prayed for Forgiveness from God (as a christain). In fact, that knowledge was the force that never made me stopped it at all and helped me survive that series.

So, I think parent should give their children Se.x education early.
