The South East chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have said they are not opposed to President Goodluck Jonathan contesting for a second term in the forthcoming 2015 presidential election. Reacting to the endorsement of President Jonathan as the Igbo candidate by some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-East political leaders under the umbrella of Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) during a rally in Awka, Anambra State on Saturday, the South East APC in a statement on Sunday, August 17, by its spokesman, Osita Okechukwu, said Jonathan has the constitutional right to contest if he chooses to.
According to naijamayor the South East APC described the PDP South East political leaders who endorsed Jonathan as “Ndigbo-Chop-Sand-Band,” who crave to put all their eggs in one basket, foreclose the chances of president of Igbo extraction and subject the hard working and enterprising Igbos to perpetual beggarly status.

The statement reads in part: “Ndigbo-Chop-Sand-Band drummers are not interested in whether President Jonathan performed or not, whether he honoured the promises he made to Ndigbo during the 2011 electioneering campaign or whether his presidential slot impedes on the chances of our producing a president of Igbo extraction in the nearest future.

“Otherwise, how come that up till date there is no Environmental Impact Assessment, no private sector counterpart funding, only N30b Sure-P-Fund taxed from the people and most importantly, why is the second Niger Bridge not captured in the federal budget, since according to the drummers Jonathan so loves Ndigbo?”

The South East APC said their fear is that the Chop-Sand-Band are constructing a scenario where President Jonathan, who has not performed well since he was elected in 2011, would be allocated millions of votes in the South East, just like in 2011.

President Jonathan’s second term bid has been causing ripples across the country. Recently, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) attacked the Forum of Past Youth Leaders of Ethnic Nationalities in the South-South (FPYLENS) for advising President Goodluck Jonathan not to contest in 2015 general election.

Also, the Northern Elders Forum gave Jonathan an October ultimatum to rescue the Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram since April 14 or forget coming back for a second tenure as President.

Now i see sensible people. Don't allow them to force jonathan down ur throat; u have ur choice to make.
They're jst deceiving themselves thinking jonathan will hand-over to ndigbo when he finish his tenure. It will be easier and possible for damascus to become the capital of Nigeria than gej handing power to ndigbo.
