MY OWN VERDICT:

I have been a "GUNNER" since the days when teams like Wimbledon were Premier League Title contenders (You will agree with me that was in the late 70's!). I am still a 'Gunner" and l will repeat what l have been saying in the last 5years or so.

1.) "Arse" Wenger has been a marvellous coach for Arsenal.... than any other coach you might name, for the fact that he was able to consistently remain "Top-Four" even while the club was building a new stadium, without eternal funding (Though we must all notice that Arsenal tickets and club paraphernalia are the most expensive, world over!)

2.) He has won a lot of trophies for the club in the past

3.) As an M.Sc. degree holder in Economics, Wenger knows how to "MAKE AND MANAGE MONEY". kiss kiss
Today, he is a Director and a major shareholder in Arsenal, as a "private enterprise" thus, the more money Arsenal as a club makes (selling their best players, hiking Ticket and souvenirs price, getting knocked-out in Champions League final stages, e.t.c), the more money "Arse" Wenger makes for himself.
Selling your best players makes more money for a club than winning the Premiership! FACT!!

4.) The last time Arsenal won anything important (If the F.A Cup, won last year can be considered very important, compared to Champions League or the Premiership)......was NINE YEARS ago!

5.) Anyone with any idea about anything knows that "You cannot be doing something THE SAME WAY and expect A DIFFERENT RESULT"!

"Arse" Wenger has done certain things (Tactics, style of play, selection of players, Player Wage structure, trading of players(buying and selling or looking for cheap "free agent", e.t.c) in the past that worked very well and he was rewarded with trophies, for it.
But those are in the days when clubs like Man-Shitty, Chelsea, etc, were not so awash with money from their foreign owners.
In those days, everything depended on the "acumen of the Manager" but today, things are different!

6.) Today, Clubs like Chelsea or Man City can boast of at least TWO WORLD CLASS players, for every position (or even three or four in their attack line! just look at the "top Striker position" of some clubs like Man U, Chelsea, Man City!)
.....of course, these "strategy" costs a lot of money.

7.) "Arse" Wenger on the other hand still thinks we are in the 80's and he is USING THE SAME STRATEGY HE HAS BEEN USING (which worked in the past!) BACK THEN, ....IN 2014!
Unfortunately, THINGS HAVE CHANGED BUT "ARSE" WENGER IS NOT READY TO CHANGE!

8.) Every transfer season, he LIES TO SUPPORTERS LIKE ME!
He knows he wont buy certain players but just to confuse the supporters, he puts in a miserable bid and then sits back as other "more serious clubs" poach these talented players!
Infact, it got to a stage that other Clubs just WAIT until "Arse" Wenger makes a bid for a player..... knowing he wont buy the player, they simply buy that player since they all know he can spot very good talent, like a Customs Dog after Drug! shocked shocked

9.) Occasionally out of panic, Arse Wenger "splashes and flashes" cash on a single player, (like Ozil in 2013, Sanchez in 2014) just to keep the house quiet for a few more years! Football is a "Team Work", you will not succeed unless every area of the Field is covered with GOOD PLAYERS, AT THE SAME TIME!
In Arsenal's case, one season they have the best Mid-Field (2009/10) but a miserable attack boasting of Nicklas Bendtner as top striker! grin grin
Next season, they boast of the best striker like Van Persie in 2011/12 but the Defence is shyte!
Then next season again, they improve their mid-field but sell their defenders (Sagna, Clichy, Nasri, e.t.c). Thus shifting the "problem" from one area/position of the team, to another.
Apart from Sanchez, tell me the "World Class Player" he bought this season,, amongst the like SEVEN players he acquired?

What l am saying is that, like Man City or Chelsea, if you want to win trophies, you MUST ensure you have not just a "complete team", but have "solid options" on the BENCH! It is called "DEPTH" and Arsenal lacks BOTH!

10.) Finally, l will urge supporters like myself to take a chill and not give themselves "High Blood Pressure" over nothing as "Arse" Wenger's share in Arsenal is rising continuously, his wages are increasing yearly and he is generally feeling cool while 'supporters" are going to bed in agony! shocked shocked

Verdict is: ARSENAL as a Club, will WIN NOTHING...... as long as "Arse" Wenger remains the coach.
A Leopard (Wenger) does not change its spots and you cant teach an Old Dog (Wenger) a new trick! undecided undecided

Trust me on this (end of season will soon come) .... and you might increase your life span by a few years otherwise "Oyo lo'waa" (You are on your own!)

Lastapge!

Caveat: feel free to share your own verdict please; no need to start "foaming from the mouth or get abusive" though, that does not change anything at the Emirates. wink

Nobody likes to lose, especially not at home but if it had to happen, it’s good that it happened tonight in the Capital One Cup clash against Southampton.

We didn’t play our best football, some of our best players were given a rest and some of our experienced candidates for the starting eleven failed to show up.
Nevertheless, there are more important matches to come.

Here are player ratings from tonight’s game.

David Ospina |6.5:
Made a few good reactions but failed to cope with Clyne’s fantastic shot. Not the best way to start a career at a new club but we should have patience for the Colombian – his last game prior to his move to Arsenal was against Brazil in the World Cup quarterfinals. Long shots aimed at top corners might be his soft spot.

Hector Bellerin |8.0:
Arguably one of the best on the pitch. Had to deal with the pacey Mane but managed to keep him at bay and showed unreal composure on a few occasions. He also made a few runs forward and created the best chance for us to equalize but Alexis didn’t score. What potential!

Calum Chambers| 6.75:
Did well against his former club. He neither excelled nor disappointed.

Isaac Hayden| 7.0:
Had a better game than he had last term against West Brom. If Hayden is ready to step up, it’s the second biggest positive from this match.

Francis Coquelin| 6.75:
Was hardly involved going forward but did his job at the back. It was expected to happen – Coquelin is a defensive midfielder that was sent to left back. In today’s football where full-backs have important role in the attack too, Coquelin can’t contribute as much as a left full-back should. He had one great interception in the middle of the pitch – that’s where he should play his next game.

Abou Diaby |6.75:
Abou is back! He played 66 minutes before he was replaced by Cazorla. Had a few nice moves, tackled and fired the ball at goal but didn’t get injured. Promising.

Jack Wilshere |7.0:
He looked lively in the first half, created two good chances for Rosicky and Podolski but neither of them managed to score. Faded a bit before he made a final attempt to turn the game around in the second half.

Tomas Rosicky| 4.5:
He captained the side but didn’t show too much on the pitch. Conceded a penalty, had a heavy touch and failed to put his stamp on the game. One of the worst performances from the Czech in the last few years.

Joel Campbell |6.0:
Whether he was distracted by his first start for Arsenal in a competitive game but the Costa Rican forward didn’t offer enough tonight. He can do much, much better.

Lukas Podolski |4.5:
A really poor performance from the German. Had a great chance to equalize but Forster saved the shot that Poldi usually stabs into the net.

Alexis Sanchez |8.0:
Arsenal MoTM. Scored one of the best free-kicks I’ve seen Arsenal score and constantly tried to make things happen. However, his delivery from the following set-pieces looked like something that he should improve.

Substitutes:
Santi Cazorla| 6.75:
Almost made an immediate impact with a dangerous cross but it went wide.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain |6.75:
Attacked down the right side but failed to punish his former club.

Chuba Akpom| N/A:
Had just five minutes to shine.
