Hey I wanted to do a full desktop shot but it was more than 128KB so I couldnt upload it. How did you do yours?
Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by Niggy(m): 8:59am On Jul 11, 2005
it was the default fedora core 4 setting. bt i think .jpg files are smaller than .png to make sure it's in .jpg format, okay. my fedora core 4 multimedia support is now enhanced after my YUM UPDATE. this are the packages i now installed:
mplayer
xine
xmms
kaffeine
gaim
grip
and others
by default these packages does not come with fedora by default
cheers guys!

Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by jogego(m): 10:30am On Jul 11, 2005

Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by Niggy(m): 2:27pm On Jul 11, 2005
what player is dat?
i make use of amarok and helix. bt dat doesn't look like either.
yeah jogego, fedora core 4 is kde 3.4.0 n each time i shut down(not logout) the screen goes blank until i press the keyboard b4 it display the shutdown processes. is this normal?(don't think so) ii'm plannig of doing a yum update to kde 3.4.1 bt my connection at home is 115kbps. an upgrade is around 260Mb.
anyway i'm doin a google search to see related issues. but fedora core 4 is really nice i must say.
Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by jogego(m): 2:35pm On Jul 11, 2005
Yeah the player is amarok but am controlling it thru superkaramba. My KDE doesnt give me that problem on Kanotix. ON Promepis though, KDE never shuts down unless, I log out first and then shutdown. Fedora is not debian based is it? All i did was go to synaptic and search for superkaramba and then install.
Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by hotangel2(f): 5:09pm On Jul 12, 2005
ahh people. wats's happening here? How do you take pictures of your desktop.. This thing annoys me.. some body said ALT + Printscreen, but it doesn't do it.
Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by jogego(m): 6:16pm On Jul 12, 2005
are you using linux? Kde has a screen capture program. If you are using windows, then look on your keyboard for a key labelled "PrtSc" or something like that. I cant remember how it works but I think u press it, and then go to your favorite graphic program and paste it there using Cnrt-V

yeah like to share my xpdesktop too...like i said l like my desktop simple. i removed the recycle bin by editing the windows registry. during the days of windows 98se i have loved playing with the windows registry and dat's au i solve all my windows problems. Later i switched to linux. Linux had helped me alot n i one thing i realize and love is dat it makes me learn everyday. i love learning.

Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by Chxta(m): 1:26pm On Jul 14, 2005
Now that's a new one...

How do you remove the Recycle bin?
Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by jogego(m): 2:08pm On Jul 14, 2005
By using a windows registry editor. CAVEAT EMPTOR: This is not for the faint hearted and please make a back up copy of your registry b4 u start. You could easily quench your XP box.

Unfortunately, I do not have any XP box now. I will do a screenshot of my Mepis box in a few minutes
Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by Niggy(m): 2:27pm On Jul 14, 2005
@chxta,
To delete the Recycle Bin icon from the Windows XP/2003 desktop follow these steps:
1.Open Registry Editor.
2.In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/explorer/Desktop/NameSpace
3.Find the following key:
{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
4.Delete the above key.
5.There is no need to reboot. Just wait a few seconds or refresh by pressing F5 key and see how the icon disappears from the desktop.

6. In order to restore the Recycle Bin icon to the desktop just re-create the missing key (or import it back to the registry in case you've exported it earlier).
In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/explorer/Desktop/NameSpace
Create the following key:
{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
Done!
View Attachment.
i love fedoracore4 linux

Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by kazey(m): 2:33pm On Jul 14, 2005

Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by Chxta(m): 2:34pm On Jul 14, 2005
Done!

Thanks man.
Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by Niggy(m): 3:17pm On Jul 14, 2005
@jogego, please this kazey needs to be recued from too much of windoze.
@kazey, it's a pity you ve to use many registry fix n tweak  by private companies writen for windoze to stabilize your windows despite your windoze claiming to be the best. That's the problem!
Windows needs open source help but yet they are adamant. They ripe you of your money for their incompetency. Windows SP2 firewall now suffers serious intruding from hacker n viruses.
Mozilla is a linux native(made) internet browser, surprised!
No antivirus in linux, spy attack no fear of antivirus update.
Each time i boot my system to linux,i feel secure n free. but for windows, i first have to do an antivirus updt n chk for available window update patch which are never guaranteed to work. i ve windows installed on my system too mainly b'because of my p900 n each time i'm in windows i prefer disabling my internet connection( safest remedy against online viruses).
Whenever my windoze suffer a crash it takes me about three days to do the full installation( installin windows, antiviruses, ms office, etc. whreas my linux will be up within 1hr! with all the full software installed.
linux file system is too tight dt antiviruses find it difficult to spread even if they gets in. how?
let me gist you, linux has file archi that stores files securely eg when you install mplayer. the main program for the software goes into the root directory which is not accessible to any user. only the configure files are stored in the users home directory. so even if a virus attack linux only the user inuse can be affected this can then be corrected by deleting the user n recreatin it.actually there are a few antivirus writen for linux just for the sake of software development. there was a time i installed bitdefender for linux, bt  i never used it or really needed it.
linux also has a better memory management than windows which is what a software is all abut not the fancy interface. now linux has nice interfaces n windows managers. people are use to kde or gnome bt there are others like enlightment, fluxbox, blackbox. try them out n enjoy the feel of themes n transparency like the one you see in this hi-tech movies computer screen. believe me..i've used them. jogego is a kanotix user n he knows what i'm sayin here( jogego, any addition or subtraction is welcomed) i've used many linux distros n can talk about them bt i'm with fedora core 4 presently. i'm a redhat native man,so i stick to distros that has redhat foundtion like pclinuxos, mandrake, fedora core.
i've nver said you should leave windws bt in my own case i  m with linux which has given me all i needed in computer.
there are many nice windows programes but they are for sale so you might end up not enjoyin them. that;s why thre are illegalcracks and keygens. on my windws i use bitdefender prof 8 antivirus which i end up crackin. n many other softwares like that.
i'm with linux n forever will be. Amen
Re: Screenshots of Our PC Desktops by jogego(m): 3:31pm On Jul 14, 2005
To each his own......not worrying about virus attacks, trojans, worms etc is more than enough reason to stick with my linux. And how many times can u leave a windows box on continuously? My Promepis box has not been rebooted for more than a month and the last time I rebooted was cos I 4got the battery was dead and yanked the power plug.
