Do You Think This Is Racism Or Apartheid Thinking? by Ifygurl: 9:01am On Oct 28, 2008
I was going through this blog about naija by some Arabs guy(I think, he looks arabs in his picture) and i discovered this in one Abuja apartment

Whites-only accommodation in Abuja

This ad appeared on the Abuja expats (yahoo group) today:

WUSE II
3 bedroom flat for white expatriates only (serviced)- 2.5m
payable 2 years service charge 500,000 p.a

This is the company that advertised the property and is complicit in an apartheid rental system in town.

I got this from this website

http://naijablog..com/

Do you think this is right?

As we all know Nigerian politicians are letting white SA and zimbabwe into Nigeria as refugees. Do you think they are bringing apartheid to Nigeria with this kind of stuff?

P.S: The guy that owns the isn't the one that have the apartment. He was looking for an apartment and noticed it.
According to the guy the people that owns this website and apartment are the ones who wrote that

i agree with this comment, while it doesnt sound appropriate,i think its more of wanting the expat who they believe has money, even prostitutes, hustlers e.t.c all prefer whites of any nationality because of the psyche that the spend foreign exchange much more freely, it happens in the way black and white ppl are attended to in hotels in naij as well

Civil servants own most houses in Abuja — Rep
By Sunday Aborisade, Ibadan
Published: Friday, 31 Oct 2008

A member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Gbenga Onigbogi, on Thursday said that most of the houses built and bought in the Federal Capital Territory were owned by civil servants.

Onigbogi made the allegation while delivering a speech at an interactive session organised by the League of Veteran Journalists in Oyo State at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

The lawmaker, who is also the Vice-Chairman, House Committee on Ministry of Niger Delta, attributed the development to alleged sharp practices being perpetrated by top civil servants.

He said the trend would continue for many years unless the anti-graft agencies beamed their searchlight on the activities of the workers, especially on the award of contracts and the sale of government properties.

Onigbogi said, “It is unfortunate that 90 per cent of the houses in Abuja today, whether built or sold by government, were owned by civil servants. The situation is so terrible.

“Government should start making some people as scapegoats and other civil servants with integrity should endeavour to report this unfortunate situation to the anti-graft agencies.

“The civil servants have in their drawers, copies of various letterhead papers which belonged to their numerous companies. When their ministries want to award a contract, they just use any of their companies to execute it.”

Onigbogi also called on journalists to educate Nigerians on the significance of the Freedom of Information Bill because its passage would expose various shady deals in the civil service.

He commended the roles being played by one of his colleagues, Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, but lamented that she was not carrying along the various interest groups and unions in the media in the struggle.

He said, “Members of the House of Representatives will reject the FOI Bill if re-presented five times because many of our members do not even know what the bill is all about. Dabiri should use more of lobbying by involving his media friends to educate us.

“We need to adopt a special strategy to ensure easy passage of the FOI Bill. If we then re-present it, our people will understand it and pass it.”

The Chairman of the League of Veteran Journalists in the state, Mr. Tunde Akingbade, said members of the group, despite being retired reporters, would continue to hold regular forum to contribute positively towards the development of the country.

@poster,
I'm not surprised at all. With so many Nigerians subscribing to the "I big pass you" ideology, they are only stating that the "White man is superior to Black man". Of course this is inline with how many Nigerians think. Backwardness with no limits!
