4Play: I am placed in the ignoble position of defending shysters like Ayo Oritsejafor but there is little in the South Africa story that serves as damning evidence of Oritsejafor's involvement in arms smuggling.

It is said that he is implicated because the plane is his. Given that the plane is leased out, it is like proclaiming that a landlord is a drug abuser because his tenant used drugs in the tenanted house.

The value of this story lies not in the weight of the evidence but in the Nigerian knack for guilt by conjecture. For Muslims inebriated with conspiracy tales, it serves the purpose of claiming that Boko Haram is truly a Christian conspiracy and has nothing to do with honest peace loving Muslims. For APC supporters, it serves the purpose of smearing Oritsejafor who is known to have his tongue stuck on GEJ's as-s.

It's a classic Naija non-story and misses the real issue - the lack of transparency in arms purchases which is a problem that predates GEJ.

Quality . . . . . . . . .

From the analysis of the speeches of Festus Keyamo, MURIC and others on this issue, these are the likely possibilities:
1. The FG of Nigeria might want to buy the weapons to fight Boko Haram.
2. CAN might want to buy the weapons to deal with the muslims.
3. Jonathan might want to buy the weapons for the Niger Delta militants in preparation for the 2015 elections.
It is a very dangerous trend for our government to engage in 'black market' for procuring arms. Our National Assembly should carry out all the necessary investigations to solve the problem.

CAN is more vibrant today, than any time, I can remember. We will never again return to days of Catholics leading CAN. As you can see, you have not been missed. You and your Bishops can keep on breaking fast with your sultan leader, just count Pastor Ayo out.
I'm a Catholic but loves Ayo Oritsejafor's approach to national issues. People must remember that apart from being a body of Christians CAN is also a socio political organisation the way National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs NSCIA is and tbe president of CAN must be seen to be playing that role.
While not defending his involvement in the arms deal (that's if he truly is involved) Christians must support him as the voice of the Christians in Nigeria, The days of Onaiyekan and the Sunday Mbang are gone, CAN must be active, vibrant and if possible be aggressive for that is the only thing one friends from the other side understand.

http://silverbirdtv.com/news/catholic-church-nigeria-withdraws-christian-association-nigeria

The Catholic Church of Nigeria yesterday temporarily withdrew its membership from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Their reason? That CAN under Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has been compromised. Also because of some uncouth statements by some Christian leaders, and the use of money in CAN elections and several court cases involving state chapters of CAN.

Spokesperson of the Church, Rev. Fr. Dr. Cornelius Omonokhua, said:

“You just can’t save people who are drowning, if you are drowning with them. CAN is being dragged into partisan politics thereby compromising the ability to play its true role as conscience of the nation and the voice of the voiceless. We will be happy if CAN leadership can show moderation. Common sense dictates that they do that.”

The Catholic church said they would review their withdrawal from CAN after the annual meeting of the Conference of Bishops in February.

Meanwhile CAN has reacted to CCN’s withdrawal, calling it good riddance. A rep accused the Christian denomination of arrogance, saying they were merely angry because the presidency of the association had moved to another bloc of the group.

Spokesperson for the 19 Northern chapters of CAN, Sunny Oibe, told News:

“There are some certain elements in the leadership of CAN led by Cardinal John Onaiyekan because he lost CAN Presidency to Oritsejafor who has a lot of achievements.

There is no need for anybody to lose sleep over the threat by Catholics to pull out of CAN because without them CAN will still continue. The constitution of CAN makes provision that membership can be terminated by any group that is misbehaving or any group can also terminate their membership.

“Why is it that when Catholics were in the leadership of CAN, every bloc supported them, but now because power has changed hands, they are threatening to pull out and causing confusion?

“They have been agitating that the Presidency of CAN must come from the South. They are appendage of PDP and PDP themselves. They are known for double standards. A man of God should not be double speaking.”

omoalaro: 17th September,

2014PRESS RELEASE:CASH-LOADED JET AND WEAPONS DEAL: IT IS A CONSPIRACY AGAINST MUSLIMS

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor was alleged to have admitted ownership of a private jet seized last weekend by South African authorities. The aircraft was stashed with $9.3 million in cash meant for arms purchase. In the same vein, the Federal Government (FG) issued a statement yesterday admitting ownership of the cash. Oritsejafor has sought to extenuate the deal by claiming that the jet was hired out by Eagle Air in which the pastor himself has “residual interest”. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) is alarmed by this scandalous development. We have every reason to reject FG’s explanation and it is hereby rejected. Government is being economical with the truth. We suspect a grand conspiracy against Nigerian Muslims in this latest revelation. Nigerian Muslims are enveloped with apprehension. All the ingredients of a plot are here for those who care to look beyond their noses. In a country in which two religions are most prominent and are hot rivals of each other, here is the national leader of a religious group who also happens to be the president’s kinsman, an undisguised Muslim hater, a man with a belligerent disposition towards his Muslim neighbours, a man who has been threatening hell and brimstone over the Boko Haram saga. Tie this to the Israeli connection, a country well known for its anti-Muslim and mass murder propensities. It raises more questions than answers. For instance, was the intended arms purchase really meant for the Nigerian Armed Forces? What is the guaranty that it was not meant for Niger Delta militants, or Christian crusaders masquerading as Boko Haram? Afterall, under-the-table assistance for Boko Haram has been noticed in the past. Where did the arms and food drops for Boko Haram by helicopters come from? Only the Israelis are capable of doing that. MURIC is shocked by the huge amount involved: $9.3 million! Conservatively, $1m is N163m. $9.3m is therefore N1,514,502,583.61 at the current exchange rate of N163 to $1. It is very disturbing for this to be happening in a country bedeviled by serious security challenges bordering on religious rivalry and ethnic jingoism. There is definitely something sinister about all these. We assert that Nigerian Muslims are not safe any longer. We are not safe in the hands of Israeli military advisers breathing down the neck of the Nigerian government and encouraging it to arm the Christians to the teeth. The fate of Nigerian Muslims is therefore not certain. We have lost confidence in FG and its security agencies, particularly with the involvement of Israel. Islamic scholars are disappearing at will all over the country. Recruitment exercises into the security outfits favour Christians even in Muslim dominated areas. President Jonathan has just concluded a national conference whose composition was lopsided and in favour of Christians. FG relies heavily on Israel, a well-known anti-Muslim country for its security matters. Palpable fear of religious cleansing has therefore gripped Muslims. Whole Muslim communities are already being wiped out in the North East under the guise of ‘Boko Haram’. Just two months ago, 34 Muslims who were followers of Shaykh Ibrahim Alzakzaky were massacred by soldiers in Zaria and nothing has been heard of it. MURIC calls on the National Assembly to save Nigeria from total disintegration. This jet and cash story is a scandal of monumental proportion and it must not be swept under the carpet. The National Assembly must intervene in order to calm nerves. This is not the hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob. It is the hand of President Jonathan and the voice of Oritsejafor. There is an unholy union here. An aircraft owned by a war-mongering and current national president of CAN, the cash is being claimed by a Christian-led, Muslim-repressing government, there is more to this than meets the eye. We are no longer safe. MURIC demands the termination of all security deals with the Israelis in Aso Rock, the seat of government. It is too dangerous to involve a country like Israel, an anti-Muslim country in the security matters of a country like Nigeria, deeply polarized by religious sentiments. Only a government with an anti-Muslim agenda will do such a thing. It is time for the Israelis to be kept at bay regarding key security issues in Nigeria. We advise President Jonathan to change his tactics, to integrate Muslims into his government, to stop the political marginalization of Muslims, to review the Christian-loaded recruitment into the security agencies, to probe the disappearance of Islamic scholars and the killing of Muslims in Zaria and to balance the sharing of the dividends of democracy between Christians and Muslims.  We warn that the lopsided recruitment into the security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army in the past three years, smacks of a more sinister plot to systematically wipe out Nigerian Muslims through extra-judicial killings. We draw the attention of the international community to acts of pro-Christian favouritism and anti-Muslim practices of President Jonathan. The Nigerian leader is deliberately dividing his citizens along religious lines. MURIC affirms that it seeks peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims. We are prepared to live with our neighbours. We urge those fanning the embers of war and amassing weapons to remember the plight of Liberia, Congo, Sierra Leone, Bosnia Herzegovina, etc. The ravages of war, the sufferings of millions of innocent young and old are better imagined than experienced. Finally, we appeal to Muslims throughout Nigeria to allow the National Assembly to wade into the matter. Meanwhile, we charge them to remain calm and law-abiding.

The major problem you guys have with the pastor is his close relationship with the President isn't? Do you really expect him to forsake Jonathan a fellow Christian surrounded by hounds in the mould of Ango Abdullahi, Junaid Muhammed, Lawal Kaita, Muhammad Buhari etc? Pastor Oritsejafor may have dragged CAN into the murky waters of Nigerian politics but NSCIA, MURIC and other Islamic bodies have been for years and that's why Christians are treated like second class citizens here. I prefer a CAN president who is bold to air his view on national issues that affect his membets than one who out of fear pretends that all is well when it's not. CAN must be bold and assertive like the other religious bodies in Nigeria.
You guys who pretend and claim objectivity (which is fake and dangerous anyway) must not let your hate for GEJ hinder you from claimingyour rightful place in Nigeria. We can't continue to fold our arms and turn the other cheek to be slapped again and again, we must learn to fight back before we become like the Christians in Iraq and the minority Yazidis.

The below piece was posted on WIKIPEDIA some time back but was pulled down/deleted,I guess, when much noise was raised about it by 'some people',but fortunately I had already saved and bookmarked the text and page. Anyways you can type 'Abuja Declaration 1989' in the search bar on Wikipedia and see what comes up. There is FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN...WE NEED TO BE VIGILANT.

Abuja Declaration is the outcome of a conference of the African countries of the OIC in 1989

Abuja Declaration is the outcome of a conference of the African countries of the OIC in 1989 and launched by a communique of the Islam in Africa Organization (IAO) founded during this conference.

The Islam in Africa Organisation (IAO) is a Nigerian statuted Islamic organisation, an initiative of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC). Dr. Usman Muhamad Bugaje is the current Secretary-General of the IAO.

Goals and strategies:
The organization was founded on 28 November 1989 in Abuja , Nigeria, with the goal to win the whole of Africa for Islam. The statutes and goals are ratified in 1991 and this marks her formal definitive founding. The founding-communiqué is also called the Abuja Declaration .

Starting point for the conference is the fact that Africa is the only continent with an Islamic majority and therefore Africa should become completely Islamic.
The plan contains a lot of points that are also common for Christian missionary organizations as relief and economic progression.

A battle plan was composed to Islamize Africa with some less innocent points in that decision:

"To ensure only Muslims are elected to all political posts of member nations".

"To eradicate in all its forms and ramifications all non-Muslim religions in member nations (such religions shall include Christianity, Ahmadiyya and other tribal modes of worship unacceptable to Muslim)." (the word Christianity is underlined in the declaration)

"To ensure the ultimate replacement of all western forms of legal and judicial systems with the sharia in all member nations before the next "Islam in Africa conference."

"To ensure the appointment of only Muslims into strategic national and international posts of member nations."

The execution of this strategy can be recognized in countries like Nigeria , Ethiopia and Sudan . In Nigeria more and more provinces choose for the Sharia leading to heavy protests of Christians, oft resulting in violence and bloodshed to both sides. In Sudan the government chose in 1983 for the Sharia, in 1991 sharpened with death punishment for apostasy from Islam.

Funds: The government of Nigeria donated 21 billion US-dollar to conform an IAO-communiqué as donation to this "Islamic Development Fund. The donation was done by General Babangida himself when he was the C-In-C.

What has CAN got to do with the guy's private business?

Does the aircraft belong to CAN?

This pastor doesn't know the implications of what he is doing.. Nigeria is a very volatile country when it comes to religious issues.. This is a country where a cartoon painted in far away Denmark led to the killings of hundreds of innocent christians. Yet he brought in CAN into this issue to justify his own personal business activity.

Mr CAN president, speak for yourself! Do not drag Nigerian christians into your business.

Point of correctn. Israel is nt anti-muslim. Israel is merely defending itself. And this issue is not abt Muslim vs Christian. Its abt corrupt leader against Nigerians. U ppl shuldnt get it twisted. Plz!
