Main Purpose

Immediately informing the parents in case of accidents (injuries, falling, intoxication, etc.) and immediately providing the first aid and calling the medical doctor if required. Checking the health of the child (fever, insect bites, injuries, etc.) when called for
Practicing self-education, learning child development methods and practicing developing games with infants/children based on their age.
Accompany the children to activities and play date according the plan provided by the parents; ensuring following security rules of MSF during movements (cars, seat belt etc) and pay special and permanent vigilance in case of activities in water (swimming pool)
Cook for the children and prepare a meal for the parents
Looking after the cleanliness of the infant/child, including clothes and shoes as well the cleanliness of the room, domestic appliances, toys and other items surrounding the infant/child. When required, ironing child / children’s cloches
Purchase items necessary according request from parents (food, hygiene products etc)
Dressing the infant/child appropriately and taking care of the toilet needs of the child. When applicable, changing diapers regularly and giving a bath during the day and when requested, during the evening
Using the home and kitchen appliances accurately and carefully to prepare proper meals for the infant/child
Note: When staying at home while parents are out, child minder should not open the door to unauthorized people

LIFE ISSUES...
BEYOND THE ACADEMIC CURRICULUM...
A few days ago, I had a discussion with a friend in his 50s that got me thinking about various critical issues of life again. He was so disturbed when he met an old classmate who needed the sum of 12,000 Naira to repair the gearbox of the Keke Marwa that he uses "to keep body and soul together" .The main issue was not the demand for the money, the trauma was the fact that this now old man finished from high school with Distinction. At that time it was known as Grade 1. The best students made Grade 1. Most of them would gain automatic entry into Prelim.. in various Universities.
They were the prize winners, they gave the valedictory speech, parents will use them as examples that other children must emulate.
So the pain was..how did a Grade 1 scholar become a Marwa Driver(Keke Marwa was also purchased for him by friends). Further questions from me also revealed that in the same class,same school are countless notable Nigerians. Some of them came out with Grade 3, Some withGrade 2.
The most important curriculum which Parents and Schools must also pay close attention to is the CURRICULUM for life. It goes beyond the classroom. It goes beyond grades.
What are the values and principles that will guide our children through life.
Now more than ever, this becomes more critical.
Parents, Schools, Churches, Mosques. etc must work together to write this curriculum.
We cannot afford to let them fail .
I can't stop wondering what happened.
What turned this young man from a good medium income family (in the 70s/80s ) with great academic promise to a Marwa Driver. Hmmmmm. Life
