Horsepower Wars... by yungboss(m): 8:44am On Sep 27, 2014 |
Just wondering why the craving for Horsepower among new cars, production models, that would be used on speed-limited roads, for 2015 "The Mercedes-AMG C 63 model features a new hand-built 3,982-cc biturbo V8 engine, which Mercedes says is more powerful, smaller, lighter and 32 percent more efficient than its predecessor. Indeed, Mercedes says that the C 63 is the most fuel-efficient eight-cylinder, high-performance vehicle in the world. This new M177 engine is closely related to the M178 found in the new Mercedes-AMG GT". The irony is that these cars are limited to a top speed of 'only' 155mph, nearly close to a lowly c300 or a BMW 330i. I learnt BMW would release a new f30 LCI for the market (that's if it hasn't been released). The Mercedes "M177 will produce 476 hp and 650 Nm (480 ft lb) in the standard C 63 versions or, tuned up into its S guise, will produce 510 hp and 700 Nm (516 ft lb) of torque. It is the S version of the C 63 Saloon in which this is most telling, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.0 seconds. In the C 63 S Estate this take 4.1 seconds, whilst in the standard versions it takes 4.1 and 4.2 seconds respectively. All of the models are limited to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h)." so is it safe to say that in 5-10 years time we may be seeing numbers like 600-700hp@top limited speed of 155mph? just thought of the c43 amg of 15 years ago and compared it with the Animal in the c63 we have today... |

I think those who buy cars solely for speed have got problems with their minds. |
