Surely this war is ending very soon. The Nigerian military is gaining upper hand by far. Read full report from Sahara Reporters [ http://saharareporters.com/2014/09/27/nigerian-troops-capture-monstrous-armored-tank-boko-haram-insurgents ] below :

Ngerian military intelligence officials say they were surprised at the sophisticated weapons being used by Boko Haram insurgents. The reaction came after Nigerian troops captured a T-55 armored tank and a highly sophisticate Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) from the Islamist insurgents in a battle yesterday at Konduga, Borno State.
Our sources said Boko Haram fighters made another big and desperate push to take Konduga, a town that has been the scene of incessant battles and disastrous outings for Boko Haram fighters in recent weeks.

Boko Haram began their latest push on Thursday, attacking Konduga from several angles. But when they found out they were getting defeated, some of the Islamist fighters arrived at the scene of battle from the Bama axis with a surprise weapon, a T-55 tank. Our military sources disclosed that the insurgents had never previously used such a mammoth weapon in battle.

The tank and APC were eventually seized from the insurgents after a fierce battle in which soldiers killed more than 100 Boko Haram terrorists. some 15 soldiers were also killed during the firefight that lasted several hours.

The Nigerian army said the seizure of the tank was a major blow to the insurgents. "The sheer power of the tank surprised us. And the tank has camouflage painting that made it blend with the area in a way that it could not have easily been detected by Nigerian jets flying over the area," said a military officer.

SaharaReporters obtained an exclusive photo of the armored tank which was taken to the Maimalari Barracks after its capture.

One of our military sources said that Boko Haram's ownership of the tank shows the extent to which the sect is funded by powerful as well as wealthy supporters and an indication of the strength of the Islamic group's foreign links.

Later some people will invade here to tell us that SaharaReporters is allergic to reporting a positive news about the Nigerian Military. Ride on SaharaReporters, we're solidly behind you.

Meanwhile, kudos to the Nigerian Military!

But what is monstrous about this tank?
The Tank look like an ERC 90 Sagaie not T55
Everything about that Tank is monstrous, the fire power of that Tank alone is something else, Boko haram are indeed armed with sophisticated Weapon,I know the get most of their weapons as a result of the Civil war in Libya and the then Crisis in Mali.

Some of her function

ERC 90 can be armed with a 90mm F1/F4 canon or Cockerill Mk3 90mm low pressure gun depending upon the turret configuration. Lynx carries 21 rounds of 90mm ammunition and Sagaie carries 20 rounds of ammunition for main gun.
A coaxial 7.62mm machine gun serves as a secondary weapon for the vehicle. The vehicle is also fitted with four smoke grenade launchers.
Self-protection and armour

The vehicle protects the occupants from small arms fire, shell splinters and mines. The V-shaped welded steel structure on the bottom deflects the force of bomb blasts and protects the floor against damage from mines.
The ERC 90 NG features advanced armour protection suitable for present operational requirements. The vehicle is fitted with strengthened armour offering STANAG 4569 level 3 protection over the frontal arc and level 2 protection over other parts of the vehicle.
Engine power

ERC 90 is powered by 170hp MTU diesel engine replacing the older Peugeot V-6 petrol engine. The engine, coupled with an automatic Renk gearbox, delivers a maximum power of 125kW at 2,300rpm. The vehicle has a maximum speed of 95km/h and a range of 800km.
Mobility of the ERC 90 family of vehicles

ERC 90 can be deployed in almost all external operations.
"ERC 90 is a family of 6x6 wheeled armoured vehicles."
It demonstrates superior all-terrain capabilities and has an option to raise the centre pair of wheels to negotiate with different terrain types.
The vehicle is fully amphibious without preparation and is propelled in the water by rear mounted waterjets. ERC 90 is airportable by Transall C-160 and Hercules C-130 aircraft.

How did they transport it all the way from libya without being intercepted?
Even if they want let then carry chain wheeled air planes, Goodluck Jonathan said the Nigerian Army has found "a working formula" to win the battle.
I guess, the formula is that the 9 mole generals and all their footsoldiers has been fished out of the Nigerian Army.
As long as their are no moles, no military can defeat thr Nigerian army in Africa. Nigerian ended the liberian war with only 700 soldiers during obasanjo's regime. Duribg GEJ's regime, we had only 800 soldiers change the course of the battle in Mali.
God Bless Nigeria.

congrats!!! but surely the arms captured and called sopisticated are indeed the same weapons seized from our military. It is good news to hear they were recovered. because they never should have fallen into the hands of this monsters in the first place. it should also be a wise thing to learn to sabotage or incapcitate army weapons if the army feels its about to lose it to the enemy that way.if such was done alot of the steam gained by the insurgents would have been none existent.
Anywayz we love our army anyday anytime. una do well!!! God's speed. good thing your gradually making a come back. Also in as much i would prefer jungle justice this killers. i will.advice the army to collect more intel on mmbers caught than always killing even after surrender. sometime to live for critical intel. it is needed to understand and better deal a killing blow to the group. because the group operate as one largely. not smaller covert splinter cells. meaning you catch one person alot of information will be acquired.
