In case if you serious about ur question. WiFi is simply a wireless technology that allows you to transfer data from one computer to another. It works more like Bluetooth but it's different from Bluetooth.
Apps like FlashShare or xender uses WiFi to send and receive files. Without WiFi, you can't use any of those apps.
It's through WiFi that you're able to tether Internet data from another server into your phone.
Where I worked before, people will often ask if we're using WiFi and when I said yes, they'll quickly assume that WiFi data is unlimited. I don't know where they got that from. WiFi data is same as mobile data, the only thing is that, it's shared via a wireless technology for other devices to use.
For example, you can share your data with me via your mobile Hotspot, and I can tether the data via my phone's WiFi.
I hope this helps.
