Behind President Jonathan  – Sen Sekibo

Sen George Thompson Sekibo (CON), Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District in the National Assembly has said he and the Ogu/Bolo community and the entire senatorial district will remain supportive to Mr President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, and ensure his success in the forthcoming election. Addressing the public last weekend at Ogu/Bolo during a special reception/thanksgiving in honour of his conferment with the National Award of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) by President Goodluck Jonathan GCFR, Sen Sekibo thanked Mr President for the honour done him and his entire people, adding that without his people electing him to serve them, he wouldn't have been given such opportunity.


In the same vein, Princess Asime George Thompson Sekibo (JP), wife of the Senator said that she was the happiest person because her husband had served the community and the entire senatorial district well, even to an extent that, Mr. President recognized him and bestowed him with such national honour.

Princess Asime Sekibo advised youths in the community and Nigeria at large to embrace peace, and should not be used by politicians to perpetrate acts that are inimical because the country wants peace, even as “mama peace”, Dame Patience Jonathan continues to preach everyday adding that, without peace, there would not be harmony, progress and unity.

She therefore, called on the women to remain focused and avoid being deceived by what a man has achieved but look beyond how to achieve things with men by struggling, hoping that, if at the end success is achieved she would become a virtuous woman and the husband would continue to be proud of them.

Speaking further, Rt. Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi, Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly, joined other dignitaries to honour Sen Sekibo in recognition of his numerous sacrificial services he has rendered to Nigerians in the past eleven years.

Hon. Bipi described Senator Sekibo as an epitome of a trustworthy and purposeful leader, who has touched the lives of the common men and women, widows, orphans and youths, adding that, his benevolence was further affirmed by this National Award, which he said was worthy of celebration.

In same vein, Pastor Chris Ndubuisi Elijah also joined well meaning Nigerians to celebrate a man he said has served his people by changing their lives positively, adding that, as a friend, he sees Sen. Sekibo as a courageous servant.

According to the Minister of God, it is God that gives power and sustains leadership in all ramifications, and when one is given the opportunity to serve, he should make sure such person identifies with his people first before considering personal purse.

He therefore, called on politicians to remain hopeful on God and emulate Sen Sekibo, who has done well, right from his home and the nation, which he described as a right step in the right direction, adding that, politicians should avoid satanic powers because such powers do not work out well.

Dignitaries from all walks of life within and outside Rivers State witnessed the wonderful event.
