You are ablsolutely spot on, i was Gonna ask you ladies about epidural cos it seems a lot of you folks used epidural.

Actually, my female friends all complain about epidural with some saying they can't bend properly or they suffer from intermittent backaches. I have this female friend who swore to always lecture and prevent expecting moms from taking epidural cos in her opinion, the aftermath and aftereffect is something "she doesn't wish her enemy".

So i was quite surprised to read this thread without anyone mentioning the perils of epidural. I guess the way people's body react is different in every personality

Never had any problems with epidural but I worked with a woman that claimed that it made her hair curl permanently in the back of her hair. Definitely there is the chance of injury. There can be side effects just like with every medical procedure.

Nice topic, Good questions!

How did feel ? It didn't really sink in that I was pregnant. Weeks later, I almost fainted when I was told that I was expecting TWINS!! shocked shocked

Our budget had to be doubled!! cool cool

Yes my husband was in the labour room and his eyes almost popped out of its sockets!!!

When I held them I was crying and excited . I was thinking hmm all these for me!! Where do I start.

Well 8years later. I'm still here. I guess I started somewhere.

Omo that pain no funny o! thank God for EPIDURAL!!! grin
But it's still the best thing to happen to a woman.

as a matter of policy,i don't even carry babies less that 6 mths old,so i wouldnt break something.but when my baby comes,i guess a review of this policy wouldnt be out of place. grin grin cheesy wink

I hail the women folk. The part that is intriguing me is the irrational behaviour displayed by them during pregnancy. Can u imagine a pregnant woman craving for cockroach as food? What kind of hormone runs thru them during that period sef?

Re: First Pregnancy. First Labor. First Baby. How Was It? by gentleone(f): 2:22pm On Nov 20, 2008
@ rhodacious, very funny as per the pooh part. wish you a safe delivery!

I didn't have any spitting or vomitting bouts when pregnant, I only hated the smell of food and was always tired and sleepy in the 1st trimester but after that, I was always up and about. Infact I was always going shopping and my husby used to complain i was walking around too much!
I had to cut my waka waka sha in the last two weeks before I put to bed as my legs were swollen.

when my EDD passed and there was nothing, I was given castor oil which made me stool anyhow! I took it on a monday and by wednesday morning, the contractions started though they were not regular.when I saw "show"(mucus&blood), I called a nurse in the clinic and she said I should come over so off I went with hubby(thank God he was on leave then). my contractions were still not regular and by thursday morning when the consultant doctor checked me (my water broke then)he said i had to do a CS as the baby was already tired and they couldn't pick the heartbeat. i broke down crying but the doc encouraged me and assured me it was best for the baby.

so i signed the papers myself (hubby had already left to freshen up) and phew! we were off to the theatre. i was afraid but the doctors calmed me down and told me it would be all over in 30mins. they gave me an injection at the back and my lower body went numb, i was conscious throughout and could see and hear them.
i watched as ayokunumi came into the world and my heart was indeed full of joy!

the pains after were much but each time i looked into ayokunumi's eyes, i would forget the pain and thank the Lord who saw me through!

nice trend, and thanks to u guys for sharing ur exp. i am expecting and in my last Trimester, at laest i know what to expect, and how to handle it and i beleive God will see us tru.

about my exp, not in the labour room yet but the 1st and the 2nd trimester no be joke too my people but it is a good thing that all ladies must exp.
the most funny part of mine was the HIV test thing, thank God for preggy i wouldnt av done it in my life, may be i know why sha and was afraid of the why. i had to change my ante natal clinic twice when it get to HIV test.

lastly my hubby who never knew y i was changing clinic took me to a general hopital where he believes is better for 1st timer cos of the available specialist. and there again we were asked to do test, but the names were spelt out but no HIV, I was relieved at last my HIV test can wait till when am 9 mth.

i got my result my self and checked tru dint see any HIV written, took it to my doc on my next appointment day and there i saw my doctor filling my file and she got to HIV column, looked into my eyes and wrote, NEGATIVE , I was scared and asked if i had done HIV , She smile and told me that a medical term was used just to avoid whala.

Now i am big and my nose is double, not the chick that i used to see in the mirrow again, and counting days now, i pray for safe delivery and hope all my asset will still be intact after the baby?

Pregnancy/child birth is an experience every woman who has gone through it and has wonderful children to show for it would love to share at any opportunity. My first experience was wonderful and I was able to go through the 9 months of pregnancy without much difficulties. I only vomited for a week and there were no abnormal cravings.

I had already packed my baby things into the boot of the car a week to the due date and thank God I did because labour started 4 days before my EDD and while I was at work too. Actually I have been feeling funny that morning and called my mum to let her know what I was going through and she assured me that it was a sign of imminent labour that I should be prepared. I went to work and told hubby I might call him anytime to come and pick me but he kept calling whether he should come over and I insisted that he shouldn’t that I was ok. Then the contractions started and I became quite uncomfortable. I couldn’t sit in a place but walk and once on my toes walking there was relief but once I decided to sit the contractions would start all over. It was at that point that I called my hubby to make sure he gets to my office 5 dot and I was at the gate waiting for him but unfortunately he got there quarter past. I was livid because the pain was unbearable and as soon as he started trying to explain I burst into uncontrollable tears. I was crying like a baby as the pains multiplied due to the fact that I was compressed to a seat and could not walk around.

Normally with the traffic its an hour drive from my office to my house/clinic but unfortunately there was traffic holdup, kind we never experienced before. On seeing the traffic, coupled with the excruciating pains I began to cry and scream and asking God was I going to deliver in the car and every passerby was pitying me and one young girl even started pleading that there was a hospital close by that hubby should take me there. Another woman began to shout that my husband should take one way but God is a faithful God, a vehicles just came from no where in front of us and he ordered my husband to follow him and another car with two men on seeing me in that condition also joined then and they began to drive like crazy men clearing the road for us and every car was getting out of their way. It was as if I was watching James Bond film. I couldn’t complain about the speed because I could have preferred a helicopter. This is how they led us to the junction of the clink where the road was free and I entered the labour room by 7.30. If not I wouldn’t get to the clinik until 9pm

Naturally I am a shy person and couldn’t put off my cloths even in front of my mum but on this special occasion, immediately I entered the labour room I removed my cloths, undies, wig, jewelries, everything I had on me without being told and jumped on the bed calling on God to deliver me fast fast. I did not even care whether there were men in the labour room or women all I wanted was to put to bed and put the pains behind me. I started quoting scriptures on delivery as if they were going out of fashion and was like God you told me I would deliver like Hebrew women and before my labour comes I would put to bed but God I’m feeling this pain you have got to help me. I didn’t take and pain reliever so I felt the whole pain. It got to a stage the nurse attending to me couldn’t stand the shouts again and gave me a slap on my lap that I should be quite and not use all the energy I need for pushing on shouting. Then I threw up and felt like going to the convenience. At that point, the woman put her hand in my private and told me its time to push. I pushed the first time nothing happened, the second time na lie and I started feeling sleepy when the woman slapped me again that I couldn’t sleep at that stage. So within me I called on God and host of heaven to come and help me for the last time just like Samson did and with the whole of my strength for the 3rd time eyes goggling out I puuuuuuussssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeedddddddddd and pop, my bundle of joy popped out by 8.30pm! Oh my God! What a relief I felt? It was a boy and started crying immediately and tears of joy stream down my eyes as I declared in thanksgiving I’m a mother, now I’m a mother and the nurse said yes you are congratulations. I had episiotomy, my God! The sewing is worst than labor pain and I don’t pray to experience that again.

My baby is a year plus now and whenever I come back from the office and he runs towards me with his little hands round my neck I’m always elated. Now he calls me ganma (grandma) he must have picked that from the crèche and when I call him he answers ma what a joy I always feel on these occasions! It’s unspeakable. Whenever I look at him as he grows daily I always thank God for the privilege to experience what motherhood is all about. The labour pain cannot be compared to the joy of having your baby in your arms, and I’m willing to do it again. It’s my prayer that God will remember those who are trusting Him for the fruit of the womb.

The baby was passed the due date by 10 days so I had to be induced.
lmao!! That's what happened to my mom a few yrs ago.
The doctor told her to go home. . . .a week after the due date, still no baby
They were going to perform a C-sec on her, but she didn't want it.
few hours later, baby popped out in the car. funnyyyyyyyyyyyy grin grin
