A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Ondo State, Jimoh Ibrahim, in Abuja, on Thursday, said the Ondo State chapter of the party will not accept any political Ebola into its membership.

Ibrahim said it took efforts to build the party to the level it was, adding that “one single political Ebola or virus can destroy the entire work.”

According to the party chieftain, the current state executive committee could not be dissolved by anybody without recourse to the ongoing court proceedings, or cases at various courts.

Ibrahim asserted that in 2011, President Goodluck Jonathan scored only 385,000 votes out of the 1.4 million registered voters in Ondo State, in spite of the ceremonial assertion that the Labour Party (LP) in the state was working for President Jonathan.

The Group Managing Director of Energy Group averred that having built the PDP in Ondo State with mass defectors from many political parties in the state, in preparation for “Operation One Million Votes” for Jonathan in the forthcoming presidential election in 2015, PDP would not accept any political Ebola coming to hijack or corner the system.

“Anybody who wants to contest election must comply with party constitution. A candidate that does not have membership card of the PDP cannot fly its flag in any of the elections. We will pursue it to the Supreme Court.

“Any candidate that does not have a written waiver from the wards to the national exco cannot fly PDP flag in any election. If he does, we will declare the election void and pursue it to the Supreme Court.

Apparently referring to Governor Mimiko and his defection to PDP, Jimoh further asserted that “Those who are reckless and undisciplined in their party and have no respect for the president of Nigeria cannot preach discipline in the PDP. The political game in Ondo is now different from the past, where there were no control or government resources or accountability,” he said.

Ibrahim added that those who come to equity must do so with clean hands, promising that at the appropriate time, members of the PDP would go to Abuja to brief Chief Edwin Clark on the true position of the party in Ondo State.

“We will not have hand in distorting the facts or issuing statements against our political father,” he said

Mimiko is 'truely' a political ebola. But, if his defection will cause any entropy to pdp in Ondo state, i welcome it. Anything destructive to pdp is 'golden' to me.
