Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos state has urged Nigerians not to accept the recent apology by the Peoples Democraic Party (PDP).

Tinubu who said this while speaking at the 10th Bola Tinubu Colloquium on Thursday, March 29 said the PDP looted the nation and wasted the country’s money.

“You looted, you wasted our money. Nigerians, don’t accept PDP’s apology, they lied to you for 16 years,” he said.

Going further, the APC leader also appreciated Nigerians for heir patience with the APC. “Thank you Nigerians for being patience with us. There is a difference between us and them – darkness and light,” Tinubu

Three years into his presidency, President Muhammadu Buhari finally visited Lagos in what many people termed an historic visit. The president is in Lagos on a two-day official visit on Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30.

President Buhari would also be attending a colloquium marking the 66th birthday of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at Victoria Island, and also be at the official flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Lekki Deep Sea Port Project in Epe and Ikeja bus terminus.

Even so, if a player of the Madrid man's talent were to become available in the summer, City would surely be tempted to make a move.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday in Abuja, apologised to Nigerians for mistakes the party made while in power.
The National Chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, made the apology at a public national discourse on “Contemporary Governance in Nigeria.”

The PDP lost the general elections to the now ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2015.

The then incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan, conceded victory to APC candidate Muhammadu Buhari. Ever since Nigerians have been inundated with the perceived excesses perpetrated by officials of the former ruling party while in office.

Mr Secondus apologised to Nigerian for ”impunity, the imposition of candidates and other mistakes made in the past.”

He assured that under his watch, there would be no imposition of candidates or any form of impunity in the party’s activities.

“I hereby, as the National Chairman, do admit that the PDP made a lot of mistakes; we are humans, not spirits and the ability to admit is key in moving forward.

“We admit that we have made several mistakes; we have passed through all our challenges and have acquired the experience no other party can boast of.

“We were sanctioned by Nigerians at the polls in 2015; let me use this opportunity to apologise for our past mistakes.

“It is the honest thing to do, a legacy to transfer to our children; we cannot continue like that.

“When we make mistakes, we should come out boldly to the people and apologise.

“It is important to do so because we have learnt from our mistakes unlike the All Progressive Congress (APC) that will make mistakes and lie to cover it.

“We apologise to Nigerians that we have made mistakes, we have learnt our lessons and we are ready to begin on a new agenda; experience is the best teacher, no other party has it,” he said.

According to Mr Secondus, when things are not positive and the mindset is negative, ”it is then time to reset it.”

He said that the public discourse was an ample opportunity for the party members to collectively “press the reset button’’ and set a new agenda for the nation.

In his contribution, a chieftain of the party, George Bode, said that the position of the party leadership rekindled his loyalty.

Mr Bode called on members of PDP who left the party as a result of its past mistakes to return home from “wilderness’’.

According to him, ”to err is human and forgive is divine, it was time to walk the talk for the repositioning of the country”.

One of the panelists at the event, Toyosi Ogunshiji, commended the party for toeing the line of honour.

She said that Nigeria must move from praying to taking more serious actions for the progress of the country.

A 99-year-old woman in Miami said she woke up to find an animal on her chest, according to a veterinarian caring for the unusual creature.



“I was awaken by a phone call at 2 a.m., which is never good news, and it was from my terrified mother-in-law,” said Carlos Aguaras.

Aguaras said he rushed over, and found the animal that had terrified his mother-in-law. The only other person in the home at the time was her live-in caregiver.



It was a kinkajou, an animal usually found in the rainforests of Central and South America, said Veterinarian Dr. Don J. Harris, who works for the South Dade Avian & Exotic Animal. Aguaras said the animal was in the attic when he arrived, and they lured it out with food. They got it inside a cage and brought it to Dr. Harris, who said he knew the animal belonged to someone.



“No undomesticated wild animal like this would curl up on a woman’s chest to go to sleep,” Dr. Harris explained.



The animal, whose name is Banana, was being cared for at South Dade Animal Hospital, where the medical center operates, but will be reunited with its owner Wednesday morning.



There’s no word on how the animal got loose, but the woman’s family has a message for the owners. “Put it in the hands of the experts, but it’s not intended to be a pet in a home,” Aguaras said.

Kinkajous typically spend most of their time in trees. They have the ability to turn their feet backwards to run easily in either direction, along branches or up tree trunks. Kinkajous also often hang from their tails. According to National Geographic, they are sometimes called “honey bears” because they raid bees’ nests by slurping honey from the hive.

Nigerian Islamist militant group, Boko Haram today returned 105 girls kidnapped from a high school compound in Dapchi a few weeks ago. Sources tell Saharareporters that the militant group came with the girls in 9 vehicles same way they took them away.

The Chairman of the Dapchi Schoolgirls Parents, a Mr. Bashir Manzo, confirmed the girls were brought to Dapchi.

“My relatives and colleagues in Dapchi just informed me that the girls were brought this morning,” he said.

“I am heading to Dapchi now from Damaturu. When I get there we will do a head count to see if all of them have been released,” he said.

There was confusion in the area as members of the community scampered into the bush as the terror group appeared in the area, first dropping off one the girls in a nearby village and then driving into the center of Dapchi town to drop off the rest of the girls. Five of the girls are dead according to our source. It is not clear if the Nigerian government paid any ransom to get the girls released.

Nobel Laureate Prof Wole Soyinka can’t stand Nigeria’s Internet users, especially those who subscribe to micro-blogging site Twitter.

Speaking at a Ripples Nigeria dialogue session in Lagos with the theme: ‘Rebuilding trust in a divided Nigeria’, Soyinka said the Nigerian Twitter user is the reason US President Donald Trump called the country a ‘shithole country’.

“Just look at what goes on in Nigerian twitter. You are complaining that Donald Trump called you a shithole country. When I saw the danger that this man was going to become, the dangerous commodity he would turn out to be, I said I was going to tear my green card if he became president.

“And then what happened? Nigeria Twitter, all of you launched an avalanche of hate speech on me. Do I want to see you hanged? No. I want to see you shamed. If Trump calls you shithole, don’t complain. You have not earned the right to feel insulted.

“Where does Trump go to first when he wakes up in the morning? Twitter. Who dominates Twitter? Nigerians. Who puts out fake news like Trump? Nigerians. Trump is the king of fake news like Nigeria Twitter users.

“I actually want to see some of you hanged. All I do these days is laugh kwakwakwa”

Hate speech

Soyinka also said the national assembly would be wrong if it puts forward a hate speech bill for the president’s assent.

The bill was prepared by Senator Sabi Abdullahi and it proposes death by hanging for purveyors of hate speech.

Pundits believe that the bill is targeted at Nigeria’s growing army of keypad warriors.

“Nobody will dare hang anyone for hate speech. They just want to silence people. And I shouldn’t feel sorry for some of you, but I do”.

In the wake of the US presidential election of 2016, Soyinka fell out with Twitter Nigeria after he was criticized for not ripping apart his green card in the event of a Trump win, like he had promised.

“If in the unlikely event he does win, the first thing he’ll do is to say [that] all green-card holders must reapply to come back into the US. Well, I’m not waiting for that,” Soyinka had said at the time.

“The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up,” he had added.

As Trump swept the electoral college to emerge president on the morning of November 9, 2016, Nigerians flooded the internet to remind Soyinka of his pledge.

It was the moment Soyinka and Twitter Nigeria became sworn enemies.

Rihanna is the latest celebrity to send Snap’s stock sliding.

The singer tore into the app on Thursday for allowing an offensive ad to appear on its platform. Her remark sent Snap (SNAP)’s stock down nearly 4%, erasing nearly $800 million from its market value. Snap’s stock opened slightly down Friday.

The ad in question was for the mobile game “Would You Rather?,” and it presented users with two options: “Slap Rihanna” or “Punch Chris Brown.” Brown pleaded guilty in 2009 to beating Rihanna during an argument while they were dating.Rihanna issued a statement on her Instagram account calling out Snap for the ad.


“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!” the singer wrote. “I’d love to call it ignorance but I know you ain’t that dumb. You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it.”

She added: “Shame on you.”

Snap issued a statement to CNN calling the ad “disgusting.”

“We are investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again,” the company said.

The incident highlights the dangers of self-service ad platforms, which lets companies buy and submit ads without human negotiation. Many social networks use this method. In its ad policy, Snap says ads submitted to the platform are “subject to our review and policy” and doesn’t allow content that depicts “excessive violence.”

Daniel Ives, chief strategy officer and head of technology research at GBH Insights, told CNN that it’s a big challenge for Snap.

“Social media platforms continue to have troubles with catching all offensive ads and content as we have seen from the likes of Facebook and Twitter,” Ives told CNN. “Snap dropped the ball on this ad.”

Ives added: “This is a make or break [year] for Snap and although we believe it’s heading in the right strategic direction, the Rihanna backlash and ad is another gut punch for this company to make sure they minimize the speed bumps ahead.”

Rihanna’s negative public statement comes just a few weeks after Kylie Jenner complained about Snap’s redesign.

Snap responded by rolling out tabs for the Friends and Discover sections to quell user concern that its new look is too confusing.

Earlier this year the company lost about $1.2 billion off it’s value after Kylie Jenner posted she no longer uses Snapchat.

The company also recently announced it is laying off about 120 engineers.

The Police in Sokoto State has confirmed the arrest of a Nigerien, Idi Abdullahi, for parading himself as a military personnel.



Abdullahi was intercepted by a crack team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). He was found in possession of a pistol and pump action with 7 rounds of live ammunition and 76 rounds of cartridges respectively.



Other items recovered from the suspect include an axe, two mobile phones and six SIM cards.



The spokesman, Cordelia Nwawe, who paraded the suspect, said Abdullahi claimed to be in Sokoto for hunting, but investigation showed that such arms were not used for hunting.



She said: “He is not for hunting, and we found him with a Kasea motorcycle, Army camouflage uniform and an international passport.



“He claimed to have license and permission of his country to bear the arms.”



Abdullahi said Ibrahim, a policeman in Niger Republic, bought the arms for him and obtained the license through Sule of Niamey, Niger Republic.



The spokesman also announced the arrest of Aminu Abubakar, a.k.a Sheshe Baba, for impersonation and turning his home to a mini- police station. Sheshe, according to Nwawe was arrested on March 12. He had been on the run before now.



She said: “We found the suspect with a police uniform which he uses to extort money from the public. Our investigation showed that he was dismissed, but now uses his uniform to carry out his activities.



“A police shirt, sweater and a t-shirt were recovered from his home.”



Umar Muhammad Mabera was also nabbed for impersonating Senator Abdullahi Danbaba Damboa’s aide and collecting money from parents, saying the Senator was offering 50 per cent scholarship to students.



He works with Illela Local Government Area.



“He has been to three schools telling students to tell their parents, who in turn gave money. He has been to Success Academy, Global Kids and Blue Crescent schools, where he issued tellers as receipt to his victims.



“The parents reported to the police and we swung into action, leading to his arrest.



“All suspects would be charged to court after investigations,” she added.

Fela Kuti’s youngest son, Seun Kuti, has debuted at number eight on the BillBoard World Music Chart with his latest album ‘Black Times’.



The Billboard charts, tabulates the relative weekly popularity of singles or albums across the world which are published in the Billboard magazine.



Seun shared the news on his instagram page @shotsdboss, posting a picture of the chart.



He wrote: “Debut No 8 in the billboard world music chart. My first ever album to get in the charts.



“Fehinlola and Fela come and see your son oooooo! Thanks for the support ‘Struggle’ people. Thanks to my record label K7 and STRUTT.”



The move beats the record of his father, the ‘Afrobeat’ legend whose album ‘Live in Detroit’ was number nine on the same chart in 1986.



Seun Kuti has led Fela’s former band ‘Egypt 80’since he was 14 when the latter died; after joining the band and performing with his father when he was 10.



Despite having two other siblings who sing, including his older brother Femi, Seun has been credited with following his father’s musical and political footsteps staunchly.



His 2008 debut album, ‘Many Things’, was produced by Martin Meissonnier, who had already produced two albums for his father.



His second studio album ‘From Africa with Fury: Rise’ was released in 2011. It was recorded in London, produced by Brian Eno, John Reynolds and Seun himself.

The 21-year-old has been named in Alex McLeish’s first squad since he was appointed Scotland manager for a second time, for friendly matches against Costa Rica and Hungary later this month.



Scott, who has been associated with the Reds since the age of five, was born in Lancaster but qualifies for Scotland as his father is from Glasgow.



He could make his international debut when the Tartan Army take on Costa Rica at Hampden Park on Friday 23 March, before travelling to Budapest to face Hungary four days later.



WHY SCOTT DESERVES HIS CALL-UP



His inclusion in the 27-man roster, which was announced on Monday morning, is recognition for an impressive first season with the Reds, since being promoted to Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad. It also seemingly ends speculation about his international future, as he is also eligible to play for England.



After stepping up from the Reserves towards the end of last season, McTominay made his debut as a substitute against Arsenal in May last year and started the Reds’ final league game of 2016/17 against Crystal Palace.



He was then part of the squad for Tour 2017, presented by Aon, and scored his first senior goal in the 3-0 friendly win over Valerenga in Norway.



McTominay has been a regular in the squad this term and has made 16 appearances for United in all competitions so far in 2017/18. He has also started the last five games for the Reds, including Saturday’s 2-1 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford.



His impressive displays and intelligence on the ball in the engine room have caught the eye and he received a deserved nomination for his first Player of the Month award in February, which was arguably the best month of his career to date.



HIGH PRAISE FROM THE BOSS



Mourinho has previously joked that Scotland boss McLeish should select McTominay before England do and recently revealed that he had offered his advice to the Academy graduate about which country he should represent.



The boss has been full of praise for the youngster’s mature performances of late – including in huge games against Chelsea, in the Premier League, and Sevilla, in what was only his second start in the UEFA Champions League.



Speaking after the victory over Chelsea recently, he said of McTominay: “I think he’s a fantastic player – a player that is what I call the modern midfield player, which in the end is a bit of what the top midfield players of the past were. They can do everything.



“The only thing he is not doing yet is scoring goals, which he can. But because I’m giving him different jobs, he’s not yet free to do that. We are starting from the basics and the basics he’s doing wonderfully well.



“I think he can also score goals – he has that talent. In pre-season, we understood that. But we are adapting him to his multi-functionality and he’s doing fantastic jobs for us, so I’m really happy with the player.”

Scotland boss Alex McLeish said he included McTominay in the squad after being convinced by his passion to play for the Tartan Army.



“Scott was very receptive,” McLeish said. “I looked him in the eye and he gave me passion about playing for Scotland. I saw the passion and I really felt that we had nailed it that day [when we held talks with him].”



He went on: “Of course he has to play a competitive game but if we can get him playing in the friendlies, he can see what it’s all about. We can hopefully have some good performances. Obviously winning is the big thing and then Scott can be a part of it.



“He’s had some great games with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. He’s only 21, he’s not got all the answers – I’m 59, at my last count, and I’ve not got all the answers but hopefully he’ll get more right than wrong.”

Sixteen people were killed and dozens more injured after lightning struck a Seventh-Day Adventist church in Nyarunguru district in the southern province Rwanda, a local official said Sunday.



Fourteen of the sixteen victims were killed on the spot as lightning hit the church in the Nyaruguru district in the Southern Province on Saturday, local mayor Habitegeko Francois told journalists.



Two others died later from their injuries at nearby hospital, he said.



He added that though the 140 people involved in the incident had been rushed to hospital and district health centres, most of them had been discharged.



“Doctors say that only three of them are in critical condition but they are getting better,” he said.



According to the mayor, a similar accident took place on Friday when lightning struck a group of 18 students, killing one of them.
