Some will even take 3 or 4 tablets where they are suppose to take 2. They will say they are bigger than some other persons who take 2 tablets

The funny part is that Some people take 3 (500mg) of paracetamol, claiming that the normal 2 (500mg) dosage will not have any effect on them. I pity some people, killing themselves bit by bit.

Re: Nigerians And Paracetamol Consumption by uzolexis(f): 10:51pm On Oct 28, 2014
OP..you have a point and all you said is true but you won't blame Nigerians also. Our health care system is terrible, health insurance is nothing to write home about. when you go to general (government hospital) it takes ages before they attend to you and they can even give you stupid excuses like the doctor is sick come back tomorrow, half the time they are on strike, this leaves us with no option than to go to private hospitals which are expensive for the average Nigerian. See it's not easy, we need a complete turn around in our health system to make proper health care easily accessible and affordable for the average Nigerian......till then drug use and abuse will persist.

Oyinbo man say "pile", Yoruba say "jedi-jedi"... Docta wants to do something about it.. Docta must to give you capsules (no solution), docta must to give you tablet (no solution).. Docta must to give you mixture (no solution), injection must enter your yansh (no solution), docta must to sliced your yansh (no solution).. Solution dey for african medicine, weh jedi-jedi and fever go start to run away.. We african we must respect our traditional medicine.. Will you blame them? Nigerians are poor, while they cannot afford proper healthcare they sought for cheaper means to cure their ailment. It beats me why the Government can't create a standard health insurance scheme to reduce the burden of high cost of healthcare for Nigerians. Nigerians die from common cold because they cannot access proper healthcare without selling off their limb. I remember how our neighbor died back in the days because he does not have a "deposit" to access healthcare lol.. That's ridiculous but funny. grin

Nigeria is still a banana republic where a person's life is worth only about N5,000 "deposit" or less. I wonder what the hell is wrong with the mind of a black man.

I'm guilty of this, I must confess. I take paracetamol like its going out of fashion and someone recently warned me about the dangers of doing so. This article just came to confirm it.
Re: Nigerians And Paracetamol Consumption by plendil: 4:32am On Oct 29, 2014
When taken at its recommended doses (usually no more than 4g/day in divided doses), it is perfectly safe. The damage to the liver occurs mainly in alcoholics or in fasting subjects.

Another problem is that most OTC cold and pain preparations contain paracetamol, which may be unkown to the consumer. So he/she ends up combining the preparation with paracetamol leading to overdose.

Lastly, I don't think paracetamol misuse (not abuse) is exclusively a Nigerian problem. It is quite common even in developed countries, eg US

I don't use paracetamol like I use too. I do get headaches from eating late, drinking less water in a whole day or even just from stress alone. I relax, eat, take enough water and get some sleep, shikenan!
