Deputy Gov Sends Stinker To Amosun by LilNetty(m): 5:24am On Oct 29, 2014
Ogun State Deputy Governor, Segun Adesegun, has thrown a jab at Governor Ibikunle Amosun through a letter in which he detailed alleged injustices against his person and his office.
The letter dated October 24, 2014 confirmed speculations in the Government House that all is not well with two topmost public office holders in the All Progressives Congress state.
The state government denied knowledge of the letter.
In the 10-paragraph letter obtained byThe PUNCHon Tuesday, Adesegun accused Amosun, among other things, of starving his office of funds and allocation of old vehicles to his office.
He claimed that the governor had failed to deliver on his promise that he “would enjoy his tenure as the deputy governor while contesting the governorship election in 2011 under the(defunct) Action Congress of Nigeria.”
Adesegun added in the letter he addressed to the governor that even his September and October feeding and out-of-pocket and sundry allowances had yet to be paid.
The letter
The deputy governor said, “My governor, as I am writing to you, the feeding and out-of-pocket allowance of the deputy governor for the months of September and October 2014, as well as the monthly sundry expenses for the months of September and October 2014 are yet to be paid.”
Adesegun claimed during this year’s Eid-el-Kabir and Eid al-Fitr festivals, funds were released to government functionaries except him and his aides.
He said, “Last year, in my letter to your good self on the affairs of the state, I concluded by reminding you that at a meeting held in February, 2011 at Alhaji Rafiu Ogunleye’s house, while you were the governorship candidate of the ACN, you called me aside and promised me that I will enjoy my tenure as your deputy but since then I have not felt the benefit.
“I write to say that rather than improving, the situation is worse.’’
Adesegun also alleged that seven months ago, electricity supply to his official residence was cut off “because the state government owed the then Power Holding Company of Nigeria.”
He said he had had to spend an average of N30,000 daily on diesel to provide electricity for his residence.
The deputy governor wondered why his lodge was not initially connected to the state mini-power plant even “when it is on record that several government premises, including private residences and organisations enjoy power supply from the plant.’’
He said, “I informed you personally (and severally) during the State Executive Council meetings, requesting necessary action from the appropriate quarters. Up till now, I am still living in darkness.
“Of course, your Excellency knows that till date, I remain the deputy governor in Nigeria without a portfolio, in spite of entreaties made to you from various quarters. Worse, several attempts made by me for the office of the deputy governor were rebuffed by your good self. And I keep wondering why this is so.”
Adesegun also alleged that while the July 2014 monthly running costs of ministries, departments and agencies in Ogun State were duly paid, that of his office was withheld.
He added, “Another very relevant issue is my official car. The engine knocked in December last year. Your Excellency will recollect that you were formerly using the car and that it was when you rejected it that it was transferred to me. So, when it had problems, I thought you will appreciate and understand my plight, rather you ignored me.
“I had cause to remind you many times, but nothing was done. I resorted to using my personal car as back-up even when I was aware that you were giving vehicles, including Custom-made bulletproof vehicles to others. It was when a Good Samaritan bought a Tundra Truck for me that you deemed it fit to send a Toyota Prado XL V4 engine to me in late August.
“My convoy of old vehicles break down intermittently when travelling. On numerous occasions, we have had cause to stop while on a journey to effect repairs on vehicles . Obviously, these vehicles are to be changed every two years under best practices, even when newly bought. These vehicles in my convoy were used by the last administration and transferred to me.
“Your Excellency may also note that the fund you approved for my vacation with some members of my immediate family and two aides in August 2014 is yet to be paid. Please recall that I discussed the vacation with your good self in May, and you graciously conceded that I should forward a memorandum in June, only for it to be approved in August.
“Despite your approval, the fund was not released. I made several spirited efforts to no avail. It got to a stage that I was being bounced between you and the Commissioner for Finance. I eventually proceeded on the leave without collecting a dime.
“I am therefore constrained to ask if the non-payment of these allowances is as a result of the state government not being able to meet her financial commitments. Or is the state financially bankrupt that it cannot meet its responsibilities.
Adesegun asked the governor to fear God and ended his letter with a warning : Amosun’s second term bid may fail.
He said, “Your Excellency, while writing this letter, my thoughts race to my university days in Ile-Ife, Osun State where I joined a group of bikers travelling around the country out of youthful exuberance.
“During this period, one of my pastimes was reading inscriptions on cars and buses to amuse myself. In 1978, I witnessed a fatal accident near a big tree at Alakia Junction in Ibadan on the way to Ile-Ife involving a white Peugeot 504 station wagon. Nearly everybody in the car died; shockingly there were several amulets hung over the car that had the word “I shall not return” boldly inscribed on both sides. Unfortunately, it did not return. I therefore conclude that we all must fear God.”
When contacted, the state Commissioner for Information, Yusuf Olaniyonu, said he was not aware of the letter.
“I’m not aware. I don’t know anything about the letter,” he said.

This man is about to defect to PDP.
Amosun should watch out
The pdp mentality is to acquire wealth once you become a political office holder and since Amosun is committed to developing the state instead as an APC governor, then a deputy governor with the same mindset should have being his running mate during election. The governor should be more careful this days because the deputy might have been dinning with pdp in the state

why ar you involving Pdp in this issue? He categorically stated how his office has been undermined in the past years. Meanwhile I do not see the development u are talking about in that state. There must be an internal issue bw them which should be addressed.

you can imagine. Nigerian politicians are very wicked. They all want to live a life of luxury when elected to political post.
Most of the owners of houses demolished along akute/alagbole/berger have not been paid compensation too. The state health service lacks so many stuffs too. The masses are suffering, yet the deputy is complaining about cars and allowances.

This is really terrible, government functionaries allocating and sharing money to themselves during festive celebrations. Tax payers money that is.

Your insult is of no effect on me or the people of ogun state. what is of effect is the landmark developments now visible in ogun. The only thing annoying is the 8years of corrupt governance under pdp which the deputy governor wants to replicate by demanding luxury for himself at the expense of taxpayers

Looks like its all about the money; 30k a day on diesel to generate electricity shows what many businesses in Nigeria go through.

I knew this had to be a joke when I saw 30k a day on diesel? It is obvious that the deputy governor is only interested in enriching himself. Amosun, seeing that his deputy is a greedy man had to cut funds to his deputy.

Crazy

i like the way you guys are trying to spin this issue raised by the deputy gov, but let me ask you people this question, how may times have u heard that governors car broke down on the road and how much is car that the state cant buy? I saw amosun and segun adesegun at atan in ijebu north east and their difference was like heaven and earth, i was asking my colleague if he is the deputy gov, amosun need to allow the deputy gov office function like any other one. Anyway tinubu and buckno did the same

When a yoruba man is making comments like the deputy governor, we understand his body chemistry better as a yoruba man.
I can't blame you for your comments if you are not yoruba person.

It is a pity that the deputy governor got caught up in the cross fire between Osoba and Amosun, he's now paying for it.
On this issue I am against Amosun, he has been treating this man as a nonentity. The man never attends official functions, doesn't represent the governor . Amosun most times call on his Chief of Staff to represent him at functions the deputy should attend.
My advice to Adesegun is just to be patient and wait till the next year then he moves on with his life.
For does thinking he can be impeached, I tell you Amosun can't. They will both endure themselves till the coming elections. Amosun doesn't have 2/3 control of the house. The house is still dominated by Osoba's boys.

30k/day may be overstated but it is obvious that Amosun is maltreating his deputy.
Before the 2011 elections, Amosun begged to join the ACN where Adesegun was already a stalwart, he became governor and was uncontrollable.

Amosun's faction is not really stronger but Amosun is quite popular cos of his achievements. He has however been able to weaken the former party ACN. Remember he came from ANPP, during the merger to form APC he brought in his loyalist from ANPP to weaken the ACN, resulting in him having greater control of APC.
People are waiting to see Osoba's reaction, will he leave APC to a new party or leave for PDP. If he crosses to PDP, Amosun can't win reelection. The forces of Daniel uniting with Kasamu, Bankole and now Osoba will be too strong for him.

Maybe Adesegun deserves the maltreatment, wasn't he the one who in 2011 impregnated a LASU undergraduate and dumped her after maltreating her?? KARMA is surely a bytch.

I love this amosun guy, he doesn't really care who u are..

He already said he's not here to please anybody or share state money..

They honourables dnt like him much.. grin
They complain of no money...

Yet, they build houses and ride in big cars..
But they wanted it in large millions..
I bet a honourable in Ogun state can't have more than 10million in their account!

They are frustrated, angered and most of them don't like him..

Abt the deputy, go meet osoba now.. No be u say osoba na your leader?
The same man working against your governor, u were attending his meetings which it's members were in opposition to your govr!!

Dude, Amosun is making a mark, u're no more needed and that's the fact.. The people wanted him..even though he already said he doesn't care whether he will be voted in the second time; he already dropped a legacy no govr in Ogun state had ever done!

He is not even campaigning, u can't see his posters or billboards! But the people are campaigning for him..in the taxis, market place, people are awed and they wanted him..

Decamp to PDP or stay with the osoba faction. That Osoba that no fit talk in public since his disgraceful exit from office!

thanks for this intelligent analysis. So the best bet for apc and amosun is to accommodate osoba. But osoba will never decamp to pdp, although he may go accord or any other party. That is just my thought. I know the internal wrangling in apc will still cost them more states eg oyo state
