I can relate to what Op put up there. 1) finished my final exams in April, results released a few days later, filled and submitted application(job) same month, interviewed same month, offered appointment same month, assumed duty same month 2) resigned above appointment after 10months. Submitted an application letter to a federal health institution in a neighbouring state for employment, wrote the letter on a monday, no interview, offered the job same monday, posted to a department same day, reported to the HOD same day, asigned to a team and asked to start work immediately same day. had to begged the HOD to give me 2 days to go home and sort out some things. 3) passed out of NYSC on 18th of october, submitted completed application form on 19th, interviewed on 22nd and offered appointed that day, assumed duty on 23rd November, same year 4) while on above job, applied for DSSC in nigerian army and got shortlisted on first attempt, failed to show up for medical reasons 5) decided to join the 'academia' and applied for the post of lecturer 2 in two federal universities, got offered the 2 jobs around the same time ( had to wait for about 2years in one case though), had to choose from among the 2. . Generally, health professionals have no problem getting job in nigeria. 3 Likes |

Muyogoa, pls with immediate alakrity remove that profession called law and replace it with Nursing. Like you have not been to any of the magistrate or customary courts around you? You will begin to ask if some of them learnt law by apprenticeship. Haggard looking and always wearing a particular ''coat" and looking for whom to stand in for and plead for bail. Just very few are successful to compare with the number that enrol in our schools yearly. Most people go into it for pride and by the time they are out they begin to have a rethink. Law, law l do not envy them because they are the reason why this country is in a mess, when with stolen money you can ping pong a SAN. |

Actually I disagree with this judgment. alot of graduates that studied law are out there searching for job while someone who studied what is considered to be an inferior course secured appointment easily. It all depends on your believe coz no knowledge is a waste. just trying and put in your best even if you are studying Yoruba coz no one knows whether thats your own destiny. |

MARKETING nko? Every business needs them. Sadly, that profession have been bastardized. Everyone is now a "Marketer". Some companies have rebranded the role and now call in 'Business development' 2 Likes |

Teaching is a noble profession. It's quite unfortunate that the Nigerian teachers are not recognised as compared to other professionals. Other developed nations like China and America accord utmost regard to the teaching profession, but I hope someday, things will turn out for good for d noblest profession of all. |

papiforreal:Permit me to come in... I wouldn't want to sojourn down the memory lane but may I be permitted to stress that LAW IS NOT JUST A COURSE? With reference to a sage: 'think less of what your country can do for you but rather what you can do for your country' Joblessness is inevitable when young minds study because of material wealth... I wouldn't be too wrong to state categorically that the so-called professors couldn't even define the essence of excess wealth that's why unsurprisingly, most of them live a very simple life. There is no harm in studying the course of your choice, the problem is what have you decided to offer in return to the society for the years spent in the higher institutions of learning... Funke Akindele is an actress but graduated as a law student. Don't you think she wouldn't have made it big going by her profession? Her's is just one of the many examples... I want to assure you that it is not by certificates but by grace... You are very correct about the supply being higher than demand but I think the body that coordinates the affairs of Law Faculties in Nigeria has taken some steps to invariably correct this anomaly. The only one I am aware of is the recent census that was carried out by the body to know the number of law students in Nigeria... I was informed by a learning colleague that the body wants to restrategize and draw up more plausible plans for the learning of law in Nigeria... I want to believe that I have not been biased in my judgment/analysis so far... TOGETHER WE CAN BUILD THE WORLD COME WHAT MAY... We are Nigerians! #Lord Mike |
