PoliticsRe: Why You Should Not Waste Your Time On 2027 Elections. by 1Alex: 7:55am On Jan 28
Kanwulia:
We are alive and well to see another round of elections come up in 2027. I wasted my time and energy discussing and psycho-analyzing politicians and the so-called “African-Musevenistic-styled” democracy practiced in Nigeria abd Africa as a whole.

This time around? I am not wasting my time with who wins or loses.

I will humor myself and read more for entertainment purposes only.

Nigerians really deserve the kinds of leaders the are cursed with. Let me face my “American T-Pain” jeje. cheesy
but you have not said why we should not waste our time with election
PoliticsRe: The Most Taxed African Countries by 1Alex: 7:42am On Jan 28
DeLaRue:
The irony - South Africa and Morocco, the 2 most taxed countries are also the most developed in Africa.

Most Nigerians who can afford to pay tax, particularly the politicians and the rich generally barely pay any tax.

You can't say you want development but then hide behind 'oh the government doesn't provide infrastructure but they want me to pay tax'.

Let's pay the tax first and hold the government to account afterwards.

No tax before infrastructure = perpetual underdevelopment.
go to other oil producing countries like Nigeria and see how much tax they pay.

Nigeria should act responsibly and scrap the new tax regime. For decades, the country has earned huge revenues from oil, yet citizens see little to show for it. Basic infrastructure, education, healthcare, and power supply remain weak.

Other oil-producing countries used their oil wealth to build strong systems. Norway saved and invested its oil revenue for future generations. The UAE turned oil income into world-class infrastructure and diversified its economy. Even Saudi Arabia has clear long-term investment plans.

Nigeria, by contrast, has mostly mismanaged its oil earnings through waste and corruption.

Until the government shows accountability and better use of existing resources, shifting the burden to citizens through higher taxes is unfair.

Hightablevoice2:
and on the other hand, durability.. if it can't handle the stress of a real commercial purpose car, it's not worth it. It might make sense for Uber, and Cabs, but again maintainance is another thing. In some places like IB, you will see Motos, not cars anymore but motos that you wouldn't belief will start up and still raking in at least close 30-40k per week.. and low maintenance..

PoliticsRe: Yoruba Land And Igbo Land by 1Alex: 4:09am On Jan 25
This post is what happens when vibes replace evidence and Google Maps becomes a census bureau.

You start with “look at the map” like population density is measured in square centimeters. Fertile land doesn’t auto-spawn humans like a video game. History, migration, disease, wars, trade routes, and urbanization exist. You skipped all of that.

Then you declare every colonial census you don’t like “rigged” but treat UK, US language-at-home data like holy scripture, data that literally measures immigration patterns, not population size in Nigeria. That’s not analysis. That’s display of ignorance with confidence.

“Yoruba professors are three times Igbo professors.”
Cool story. Now explain how a modern NUC register rewrites 19th-century demography. Or are professors now a proxy for ancestors?

You also casually ignore:

Yoruba land having early large centralized kingdoms and earlier colonial urban pull (Lagos, a good example),

Igbo society being decentralized and rural for longer (which affects records), massive Igbo post-war migration inside Nigeria that doesn’t show up in your neat zonal math.

The real comedy is the moral leap:

“Therefore Igbo should stop talking about marginalization.”

So your logic is: questionable population math, diaspora headcount, professor tally, presidential entitlement.

That’s not political science. That’s numerology with ethnic confidence.

And the “5 states for 20 million people” line? States aren’t sharing-size pizza slices. They’re administrative tools, created historically and politically, often unfairly; for everyone. Pretending one group is “gaining most” in Nigeria is wild when the whole country is struggling.

In short:
This post isn’t bold. It’s loud.
It isn’t rigorous. It’s selective.
And it doesn’t end marginalization debates; it proves why they never end.

EducationRe: Tinubu Govt Requests Repayment Of NELFUND Loan From Students Nationwide by 1Alex: 8:19pm On Jan 24
hopexter:
Yes it’s a repayable loan which is why it is called student loan provided by Tinubu through Nelfund. Do you have a problem with that cos you sound triggered? 😂
hopexter:
It’s already being built and strengthened by him. He’s even giving free education and monthly stipends to university students which in turn relieves parents from the burden of school fees which has never happened before in Nigeria.
Should we talk about Oil subsidy and other reforms? No one can do it better than Tinubu.
you sound so empty. Awesome

AutosRe: My Ultimate Guide To Importing Cars From Copart To Nigeria (ask Me Anything) by 1Alex: 8:25am On Jan 21
thinhcuu:
I imported a slightly damaged car from the US through Salvage World, and overall it was a good experience. When the car arrived in Nigeria, it had some scratches and a small dent, just like what was shown in the pictures, but the engine, gearbox, and interior were all in very good condition. After panel beating and a fresh paint job, the car looked almost brand new.

What I like is that the vehicle details were accurate and there were no surprises. If you are planning to import a car, my advice is to always study the photos well, know the type of damage, and keep some extra budget for repairs and clearing. If you do that, buying a salvage car can save you a lot of money compared to buying locally
I don't trust this post.

PoliticsRe: Sanwo-olu, Ezekwesili Clash Over Makoko Demolitions by 1Alex: 7:53am On Jan 21
some local and international non-governmental organisations, NGOs, were exploiting the situation for financial gain.
this is true, I support the governor.

Ezekwesili warned that the exercise had triggered a humanitarian emergency, displacing thousands of families, disrupting children’s education and exposing vulnerable groups to hunger, disease and insecurity. She argued that once government actions create homelessness, the state bears an immediate constitutional and moral responsibility to provide care and protection.
this correct, I support Ezekwesili.
