There is a common idea that very poor and messy handwriting without the inability to write well on request indicates dullness or mental deficit and I would have to agree with the fact that fast thinking would most likely lead to messy writing due to our brains thinking faster than our hands can write. I believe smart people also have bad and messy hand writing because they think faster in taking down things when a hurry or trying to get ideas down. Doctors also scribble things down really quickly, when in reality they are just trying to prevent forgery. More so, I believe you're smart doesn't mean you will have messy handwriting, nor does messy handwriting mean you're smart. A lot of the really smart people I know do have good handwriting except for the few ones who have an IQ but a terrible and messy handwriting, Don't get this twisted because I'm not trying to say handwriting has a direct correlation with intelligence because I know intelligent itself has many types- (analytical, comprehensive,etc) On the contrary, My observation and judgement is only based on my own encounter and I can deduce that more often than not, handwriting sometimes definitely means anybody who writes sloppy, dyslexic and fowl scratching handwriting is obviously a dumber Dear Nairalanders, From You Observations, Do You Believe Brillancy Or Dullness Reflects on Handwriting ? 2 Likes 2 Shares |

FTC In some cases it reflects, some others it doesn't...i know some people with a very attractive handwriting but are not so brilliant while on the other hand some people that are brilliant have poor handwriting 1 Like |

On the contrary a messy hand writing might indicate one with genius level of thought. Reason being that he/she prefers working imaginatively than expressing thoughts in writing. 3 Likes |

to an extent,i think tho that handwriting has a lot more to do with your personality and mind than your intellect....most of these things can be captured through you style ,Slope,stroke,spacing and punctuation.. so my general observation is that it is more of the mind than the brain   i've seen very smart/intelligent boys with 'fowl scratching type" handwritting PS:my handwriting doesn't have part2 2 Likes |

I will say as an adult, brilliancy doesn't reflect in handwriting in any way. There r a lot of dull folks out there whose handwriting is like mizmycoli's font n vice versa. Also, there r a lot of intelligent folks whose handwriting looks like where some birds have been having a party & vice versa. But, as a kid, ur handwriting reflects on how brilliant u are. You see, none of us knew hw to write anything at the beginning. So, we were sent to school to learn. Some learnt right and some were slow in learning. Its a direct reflection of hw we could comprehend what they were teaching us. No one was thought to write in a bad way. We were all thought right but d seemingly dull ones couldn't learn right. Dt been d early stage of life, it'll be unwise to tag to such a child dt didn't learn to write well as completely dull because brilliancy is improved upon with time. So, we cud have someone who was dull as a kid tryna learn hw to write and dt same guy is d one representing his high school in competitions Sadly, once u learn a bad handwriting, it sticks for life! Personally,I'm not bothered by my handwriting whenever am in the lecture hall listening and trying to take salient points. Some lecturers aren't helping matters whenever they talk cos they re not concerned whether u take note or not. |

I am an intelligent person buh got a bad handwriting.. people with good handwriting are usually slow writers and 70% of them are dull... intelligent people usually write fast and their handwriting is usually messy |
