I came across this discussion on a TV show this morning and I've decided to bring it here to share, read opinions and rub minds.

PIDGIN ENGLISH AS OUR NATIONAL and LANGUAGE-what's your opinion?

We will all agree when I say pidgin english is the most vastly communicative and interactive language between the literates and illiterates, tribes and ethics in Nigeria...

Its been a very longtime since the english language has been introduced to us by our colonial masters and the language is yet to serve all corners of human existence for free-flow interaction.

What do you think about the Nigerian version of english language(BROKEN-ENGLISH) being our national language or even our official language sef *lol*

Your opinions are welcome!

I agree...pidgin English is our national language.

The 3 major Nigerian languages are so different. I wonder how that happened.

Take a look at South African languages for instance. Over 10 languages and each language is similar. A person who speaks and understands isiZulu, will understand some words at least in isiTshwana or Sepedi etc at d barest minimum.. Our own no be am...a Yoruba person would never understand Igbo or Hausa or Calabar as no one word means the same in our languages unless he or she have lived in those areas...

So yes, pidgin English unifies us...I'm glad I learnt my waffi, no time, as na him I take dey relate for yonder with my people anyhow...

I greet una migwoly...

Yeah sister, language is one of the major factors that unifies human, and shouldn't be just left out. Coz we're really divided in this country and that's why our unity has been weak so far
