Phones › Re: How I Put Myself Into Trouble Learn From My Story by 2023Blessed: 4:43pm On Feb 16 |
Lessons learnt.
Should you return a lost phone again? YES
How should you do it? Get 3 witnesses and draft a simple lost but found agreement, stating exactly what you found. Let the owner of the lost item sign that he accepts that you are not to be held liable for anything after returning the phone which you saw.
Ideally, this should be done in a police station but only very few of those criminals in uniform can be trusted.
Document the events (most likely with video recordings) from when you found out, how you were able to reach out to the owner, etc.
Include in the agreement that if the owner of the lost item ever turns out around to falsely accuse you, you are at liberty to sue him/her to court.
Corollary: I just saw a post where someone said something about picking up the phone of someone who was murdered.
That's a tricky one. And that is where proper documentation is important. Do not pick up a phone with your bare hands. It's not like we have proper criminal forensic capacity in Nigeria, but better be safe than sorry. While making a video, draw the attention of 3-4 passers-by. Let them know you saw the phone and you are not willing to carry it. One idiot might claim it's his/hers, the wayray don claim problem be that. However, if nobody claims it, then the police can be notified via call (no waka enter police station o....hmm) to come and pick it up. As soon as police appear, and you don video their face, moveeeeeee!
Make sure your video recording is a live stream. E get why too..... God go help us |

If you never live for North, you will think we are exaggerating. Living in the North as a Christian is like living in a den of hyenas.
Any small grievance, the church and Christians are the scapegoats.
Once I traveled to Talata Mafara LGA in Zamfara State in 2011, there was no single church. I heard that they threatened corp members who tried to erect a church in that community.
I remember when Muslim students attacked fellow students during the NASEL NIGHT at University of Maiduguri in 2012 or 2013 (can't remember the exact year), using sticks and knives on people. A lecturer lost his daughter in that fracas.
It has always been Muslims against others. Particularly Hausa/Fulani Muslims against others including Yoruba Muslims who appear to be much more tolerant. |

Gradually, we are institutionalizing impunity by the uniformed men in this country. Soon, some of you supporting rubbish in here because it suits your current narrative will be privileged to hold political positions in the nearest future. I hope to see your reactions when military officers who are meant to defend and protect the Constitution of our country are rubbishing elected and appointed officials (as you will become) who are carrying out their lawful duties. Meanwhile, Can you all see how the policeman spoke with respect and diplomacy? Only a fool will escalate the situation after listening to the policeman speak, even bowed to the Governor. On the other hand, the disrespectful soldier had his hands in his pocket almost all through the time he was speaking to the Minister. Then he kept saying the papers are complete as if he was there when the ex CNS bought the property. Oya, show documents, he was muttering rubbish. The soldier triggered Wike who already is an uncouth person. I refer to TallNigerian's post yesterday TallNigerian: This has nothing to do with age but everything to do with obeying authority. The soldier should have respectfully told Wike to consult his boss who gave him the order.
Typically, a sane officer will say "Sir or Honorable Minister, please may I suggest that you resolve this with my boss? I am just an officer acting on orders. I have to protect my job Sir. I am not trying to undermine you Sir but I am acting on orders Sir. Failure of which I will be sanctioned. Try to understand Sir".
Instead, he was foolishly saying "the papers are complete and valid. I cannot allow you to access the land".
Haba, you are telling. Minister of FCT that the papers are valid. Was the officer there when the land was purchased? He didn't even have a photocopy of the title with him for clarification.
That was very silly. You dey argue with person wey fit revoke your boss land title documents. In Yoruba, they say "if they send you message as a slave, you ought to deliver it as a freeborn". |

Politics › Re: Can a Serving or Retired Officer Countermand the President’s Representative? by 2023Blessed: 10:03am On Nov 12, 2025 |
Ttalk: That's a very good question. I have taken my time to analyze the unfortunate incident of confrontation between the Minister of FCT and an attached naval staff to a retired CNS.
Many commentators have not only erred in their submission but have allowed emotion to dictate their judgement.
There are pertinent questions that could informed a better understanding and fair judgement on the matter.
If we are to agree that a military officer only obey the order of his superior, won't it be more appropriate to define under what condition such order becomes valid.
If it is assumed that a military can break traffic rules while on mission to arrest a bandit, will such order be applicable while such officer is taking his superior child to school,?
The scenario at which the altercation occured. is best not in military formal duty and such order must be weighed to comform with the existing rules outside the military formation.
It would have been more ingenious for the officer at the point of such stalemate to have seek direct intervention of his superior to engage the minister.
Taking a unilateral decision based on order from his boss is not enough ground to remain adamant. Rather than asked Wike to call the CNS, I believe the junior office should have done that instead. You are so brilliant |

If you want to discuss in cyber space with you opinion let it be constructive and objective not this ping-pong talk just to be noticeable. Was the minister wrong in calling the officer a fool? Yes! Was the officer suppose to take orders from Wike? No! Are these politicians full of themselves especially, Wike? Yes! And above all did this young give Nigeria joy? Yes! So take your opinion to the gutters where it belongs.

Ayanfejesu has something to say to you all if your brains can comprehend it though. Perspective from Ayanfejesu Kiaz
But honestly, wit the kind of citizens we are, we don’t deserve a better nation. Our sense of right and wrong changes wit our emotions and who’s involved. When the powerful use soldiers outside their lawful duty to oppress ordinary citizens, we all shout, protest, and cry foul. But now dat those same soldiers are being used to intimidate the FCT Minister, the chief executive of the capital city, from doing his lawful job, suddenly, because you dislike Wike, the soldiers have become heroes Not in our Constitution or the Military Act dat says soldiers have any role in land protection or civil disputes. This selective outrage is our real problem. When wrong becomes right because it favors our bias, the nation sinks deeper. In the end, we’ll all be alright, just not as we handle situations.

arantess: With your own warped mentality and phone, the issue of lekki was not about soldiers following orders.
It was about state government and acolytes denying that innocent protesters were killed.
See the difference? Well, the Governor did not give the order, so he's not aware people were killed. Because according to hearsay, the soldiers went away with the bodies. So Mr. Governor (nor Tinubu as a private citizen) did not order the shootings neither did he meet any dead or injured when he arrived the scene, so he was right to deny the shootings. Meanwhile, we have been expecting you at YabaLeft, what took you so long? |

Truly, there is an agenda. In as much as I have come to detest President Tinubu's style of leadership, I must say that is a wake up call to put the military in their place under a democratic government.
Imagine, the soldier's hands in his pocket while talking to the Minister. So unprofessional. Whether or not you are acting on directives from the ex CNS, you can still show some respect to the Minister.

Face innocent, harmless and unarmed Nigerians, yessssssssss!!!!!!! The other day, a Naval lieutenant was deployed as a security guard to a private property and he was boldy saying "I have integrity" A naval lieutenant o, that should be on a navy vessel protecting our maritime borders.
