He is 100% the son of the land. Or is he an indigent of northern or eastern States? If not he has every right to contest for elective positions in his father's land.

Even beyond that I think law of the land gives grace to other tribes to contest in a place where they have shared many things in common with the indigenous people.

To make this thing more palatable and less embarrasing a first step to pulling down the indigenship wall could be to give a waiver across the existing geo-political zones. So that anyone from the southwest can aspire in any state within that zone, same for the south-east, south-south, north-central , etc. This can be set in the constitution without much resistance as compared to a full Pan-Nigerian policy which is impractical at this stage of our development.

It will still be tough though in some less homogènous, multi-tribal zones such as the south-south and north-central. I laugh at the thought of an Efik man contesting the go;vernnorship of Edo state or a David Mark dragging rights with his mentor IBB for the soul of Niger state. Funny......mess we have as a country....tribe has killed us.

He is not qualified to claim Lagos as at the time of filling the form.

This is my judgement, the case brought against has no substantial prove to believe he is not a lagosian by virtue of our constitution

The constitution is silent on the issue of state of origin in relation to who qualifies to contest for an elective office or to be appointed into public office.

Why would he have lied about his state of ancestral decent? And what stops a non-Lagosian from contesting for political office in Lagos? How long do we have to change our mindset in this part of the world? There are many questions than answers.

Section 177 of the Constitution gives the following as the qualification for election to the office of Governor of a State:
a. he is a citizen of Nigeria by birth;
b. he has attained the age of 35 years;
c. he is a member of a political party and is sponsored by that political party; and
d. he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent.

The fact that he filled ondo state in his jamb form is a testifier to the fact that he actually did not see himself where he is now back then(so true) and now he has worked for 22 years in the public office that makes him a lagosian(very true) plus the fact that the law even stipulated it.
