Very wonderful advice! I thought of this but decided to encourage her because where she is might not be where she wants to be. Its her fulfilment as a person that matters, if she fills fulfilled being a doctor then let her go for it.

Thats it

marvelling! It's been a while..how are you??
And to the topic, no one but you can decide your future.........do you want MBBS? How old are you? Do you want to get married soon? Can you combine marriage with the 8+ years of medicine? Can you afford the wait? Is it because you think medicine is lucrative? Just do a real self examination sweety.....and decide your future
its not about the money , I always wanted to b a doc bt now that I'm half way done wth my present course I'm having second thought abt switching

If I may ask, what is your dream, I can see your dream from your responses so far is mbbs, its good, and with the present Nigeria economy, you will do well if you are lucky to get a job.
In electronics also, which you have almost completed, your future is secured if you finish with a good grade and also lucky to get a good job.
Consider your age, electronics you will round up in the next 3yrs with NYSC,mbbs in the next 7yrs.
Consider sponsorship also, mbbs no be beans, you buy a lot of textbooks and your social life will suffer a bit.
Think both career through, pray about it. You have to decide this for yourself, the future is yours only. God help u.
thanks. considering my age, I want to graduate like last year I want to be done with everything and bgn d next phase of my life .my parents hv done alot to see us succeed in life and I'm last in line so I want them to see me climb up the ladder n b proud.
considering sponsorship, I don't hv a problem with that as long as I'm a student.

Hmm my little contribution is that all that glitters is not gold.

So many folks follow the crowd. Some wanted to study MBBS because they think it is lucrative which is a wrong reason for anyone who truly wants to study MBBS.

They may tell u that they have passion for it. But deeply within them it is not actually passion but influence from friends or relations who want them to study that course.
Do u know that every year up to 90 students get admitted in MBBS? But in the end u see just 20 to 25 graduating and get inducted. Where are the remaining students? Most withdrawn for the fact that they repeatedly fail their MB exam.

Before one can study MBBS he must deny him or herself of so many things to be able to scape through. Even after scaping through one must climb up the ladder to become a specialist or a consultant for one to fully enjoy what medicine truly entails. And that requires many years of study with so many exams to be written.

Nonetheless, passion should go with lots of hard work and endurance.

Success is not the measure of one's career in life but one's ability to satisfy people's needs. And once a need is satisfy money will keep coming in.

I will advise her to finish the course she is already doing. She is already in 300level. That looks more promising than going for MBBS that will suck number of years from her. What if she withdraw along the line due to not being able to pass one MBBs exam or the other?

A bird in hand is worth more than two in the Bush
tanks for tht. in my class only 1 person applied to study the course all the rest are MBBS rejects, some hv withdraw some hv accepted their fate others clueless.

i was once in her shoes and i made a costly mistake. My first admision was microbiology, i rewrote jamb in 200level and got admitted to MLS!! My mcb classmates graduated since 2010, i graduated frm mls 2013. I swear most of them i meet lately are doing well and making cool cash already. What you dont know is that course of study is not a guaranty to a sucessful future. Had it been i didnt rewrote jamb i would have achieved alot by now. Funny enough i dont think i will pratice mls! Looking into biz now!
this is exactly what I'm trying to avoid.
I pray u mk it in biz

I will advise u as my own sister. We all have passions in life yes we all know that. One can be happy in any job one does if one make the most out of such job.
Happiness is not limited to a particular field of study as long as whatever job one does is able to put food on one's table.

Medicine is a nice course yes we all know that but not and I quote: ''the most lucrative of all careers''.

Medicine involves alot of time, energy and years to get to the peak and apogee if you must enjoy it to the fullest. For those who are already Docs, many had confirmed it that if they are given a 2nd chance to study Medicine they won't opt for it cuz most of them have little or no time for their spouse and relations for the fact that they are always in the Theatre carrying out one surgery or the other or carrying out one diagnostic procedure or the other. Time is not their friend.

If at all u truly want the MBBS then be ready to sacrifice your time and energy to get to the end of it. It is a lovely career only for the dogmatic ones. The die hard adamant ones so to say. You should be ready to read 12hours per day.

But if I were you, I would stay put with Electronics course. I believe the passion for MBBS was nurtured out of ur childhood fantasies. As u grow older u will get to know that life is not truly about what u study but what u can make out of what u have studied. Anyone can be successful in any field.

Continue with the electronics course cuz a bird in hand is worth more than two in the Bush.

However, not withstanding, follow your heart and back it up with hard work and the sky shall be ur limit.
thanks.
happiness? may be after securing a job with d certificate but as of now non of us is happy . so many times when we r calculating or implementing circuits of diodes ,transistors, capacitors n inductors or programming codes we gist how different it wld hv bn if we were accepted into mbbs
