i believe i have made my point. it is now up to nairalanders to make their own choices.
I was expecting a coherent explanation not some unnecessary chest thumping. You can always drive any car whose duty was already paid before 1st January, 2017 through any border in Nigeria.
For you to do custom duty for a car from cotonou today, you must backdate such papers to last year which is no longer possible.
The only explanation for the cars you saw passing through the border is , their duties must have been sorted out last year and the dealers are just picking them up because I was part of the last minute rush in December as so many people too.
The only option is for you to smuggle it into Nigeria and then claim you have had it before now which is ok but you must tell the owner you are going to SMUGGLE it in (in case you land in trouble because we are talking of millions of nairas here).
It is not about what we hear on TV, radio or the internet, you CANNOT legitimately get ANY custom paper for ANY vehicle at cotonou border as things stand now. Stop giving people the impression that it is possible.
