speaktome: Industrial development and ending corruption. Which can be achieved by 1.Removing the fuel susbsidy, and reinvesting the cash in technical education and power supply. 2.Improving railways, and removing tarrifs on imported raw materials for industries. 3.Ending poverty and imporving transparency 4.Forcing states to stop their reliance on abuja for IGR. |

Nigerian economy needs to shift its total dependence on crude oil alone, we are blessed with a lot of resources. That is why we need a true government that would help us become a nation with diverse economic potentials other than everybody dreaming of working in the oil sector alone because it brings the most income. This is sad. |

HACKPASTOR:this issue and problem isn't affecting nigeria alone . Even the japanese yen, malaysian ringit and brazilian currency has also lost many points . The problem is caused by the global downward price of oil. 1 Like |

Putting it mildly....our reliance on oil led us down this path. And the annoying thing is that Nigerians are not ready to get rid of their reliance on oil. If we do not take measures to get rid of our reliance on oil....we would continue to suffer when the oil prices go down, and enjoy when they go up...and so on. Well, I don't like that type of economic policy. I am sitting out this 2015 election....and probably all future elections....until someone develops a policy to get us off oil and into industrial development(and no---agric is just another form of resource dependency). |

FrankC3:Well seconded. What kind of country with over 170 million people/moth will wait to be fed by importation. If the US, china, India is cutting down on importation, we should be cutting down on importation of goods that have viable alternatives. Top on import lists are rice, sugar, flour, cars.FG should work on local alternatives of these goods. 1 Like |

Firefire: Well, your man has done a lot...except get rid of our dependence on oil.And that is not good. Even Vladimir Putin recently admitted that Russia's economic problems are due to oil dependency. And the only idea that our leadership(and even the opposition) can come up with...is that we need to go to agric(which does not earn enough money because everyone does it). We need to stop relying on oil.....and start on the road to industrial development....like Korea, Japan, and China. Because....oil dependency is hitting us hard. We cannot continue like this. |
