Those responsible for that letter are mischief makers bend on frustrating and slowing the fight against terrorism on the alter of corruption for their own Political Gain. They rather want a situation where boko haram gain more ground with massive loss of lives than have the military push these terrorist out of Nigerian territories. These people are the Real Enemies of Nigeria. Kudos to the Nigerian Army. Let them keep the brilliant fight against terrorism. |

ObiOkpor: And I hope he provides you exact information on what arm he serves, what unit he serves, his deployment, his tasking and the equipment he is provided with and be kind to lay it out here for your fellow forumites to decide whether the troops are ill-equiped or not. This nonsense has gone on for far too long. |

Monimatic:APC and their cooking up of stories. They have a department that continues to spin out lies after lies. Today you hear, northern pastors endorsing Buhari/Osinbajo, to Southeast being biggest donors to Buhari, followed by this and that. You see, no amount of desperate lies will deceive us into voting the Muslim brotherhood aka APC into power in Nigeria. For all we care, APC and BH can continue to receive funding from their supporters in the middle east in their grand plan to Islamize Nigeria, they will ultimately fail because the bible says 'Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake. (Isaiah 54:15 KJV).Let APC continue with their campaign of country-wide deception, they will surely fail. 1 Like 1 Share |

neocortex: I don't understand that rubbish. People just wake up and talk rubbish just to be heard and score cheap political points. Since the beginning of these stories no one, not even the so called 'serving officers' ha ve been able to 'detail' what they lack. How can a person ascertain what is being stolen when he doesn't know what is needed oir what is available. 'Oh the generals must have stolen the money meant to purchase 150mm artillery shells.' Which general is given money to buy 150mm artillery shells. 'Oh the generals have stolen the money meant to purchase F22 Raptors'. Can the airforce even afford these aircraft. 'Oh the generals have stolen money meant to purchase patrol boats'. Of what use are these in the theatre of Bama. What makes the rounds here are beer parlour 'facts' whose 'Orijin' and 'Catfish sauce' are sweet to the taste but contain less that little benefit. So much so that the average rookie infantry man fresh out of combat school feels there is some truth in this and so rebels against authority. Those who have served in the armed forces over the decades in various theatres know that yes, the armed forces are not immune from the general deterioration in standards across the board in Nigeria but to say that the results so far are due to inadequate equipment alone is just nonsense. For your information Charles Taylor had much more equipment than what Boko Haram will ever dream of. He could afford the best Russian and Ukrainian equipment money could buy. He was the sole signatory to the Liberian Central Bank and he had airports and seaports to import whatever weapons he could find guarded by their airforce and ragtag navy. It didn't stop our troops landing, engaging and finally subduing his armed forces after initial setbacks. The difference then was an opponent ready to fight and a Nigerian armed foirce ready to win and a populace offering full support and making huge sacrifices (that campaign burned our economy). Today, instead of unity we have deep divisions through the fabric of society. Today we have our nationals hell bent on tearing the armed forces apart. Today we have nationals openly supporting mutiny as if they have what it takes to withstand these militants if they break through the armed forces. Do we wait for an 'Chinese' economy before we build our roads. Do we wait for a 'Norweigan' society before we can contain crime. Do we wait for 'German' efficiency before we can win the world cup. Then why wait and demand for an 'American' equiped armed force to defeat our disgruntled fellow citizens who turn against us. 2 Likes |

PassingShot: I read the letter of course and know it was crafted by a civilian. Military men donot write like that. They are forthright and to the point. A commanding officer laying a complaint will detail how the shortages or inadequacies affect his command and control. The first thing he will like to detail is the casualty figures out of this. That wad the case in the first few weeks of the Liberian conflict. We lost many men as a result of inadequate armoured cover for our infantry units. This was shortly addressed and the situation reversed. What is so clandestine about inadequacies today that leaves gaps for all manner of rubbish speculations. Generals emvezzling money meant to buy weapons. What kind if childish talk is that. Do generals go to wuse market to buy weapons. 1 Like |

BH, its a concern of every Nigerian Citizen, we are all affected directly or indirectly. Well what the Commanding Officer has written about what is really going on in the theatre of battle in the North East is verifiable; you pick your phone boost it with just some amount of air time, put a call across to your relative, friend whom is a military man or somebody who could connect you with any military man (army). Then confirm those alegation in that petition to know if they are really truth. I believe the Lt Col has been told the implication of that letter to himself, the army and the corruption nation (Nigeria). I just pray the man in the street will make a better dicision in the coming 2015 election. |

major466:...and how does a plea by an anonymous concerned individual to the president to investigate the corruption at the military hierarchy slow down the fight against terrorism? What is even wrong with some Nigerians?... What is wrong witb Jonathan supporters?... Every single issue is perveived to be an attack against Jonathan. A letter from whoever which stated the obvious is now seen as propaganda against Jonathan ?... Who does not know the Nigerian army is corrupt?... who does not know the NA introduced corruption to Nigeria?... The sort of paranoia exhibited by Jonathan supporters is sickening. I am still confused how a plea by an unknown individual to GEJ to investigate the corruption at the military hierarchy is what some individuals now term propaganda against Jonathan. Not long ago, SLS raised the issue of the fuel subsidy cabal receiving payments but not importing products. Jonathan supporters interpreted this as an assault against GEJ. Just last year the same SLS called on GEJ to investigate NNPC due to unremitted funds running into billions of dollars and once again, Jonathan supporters immediately interpreted this as propaganda against GEJ. So far, no one has accused GEJ of being responsible for all these mess but the unnecessary defensive attitude of Jonathan supporters econtinue to make it look like GEJ is solely responsible. |
