Recently a marriage ceremony was to held in one assemblies of God church in my area. The husband invitees and wife invitees and so many other well wishers all converge in the church where the wedding is to take place. Food has been cooked, drinks and every other needed items were all ready. Those people who could not go the church for the wedding where all on the field of one primary school where the reception is to take place. In the church the choir has sing, every body had dance, pastor has preached and now is the time to join the couples as husband and wife. After every other formalities, the pastor ask the couples to present there doctors report on pregnancy test, the couple said they don't have it. The wedding can not continue except they provide it said the pastor. Immediately some nurse that where present quickly do what they know how to do best by carrying out the test on the wife to be. Only for them to found out that she is pregnant. The guy could not believe her eyes. They are brothers and sisters in the lord they agree on no sex before marriage how could this happen. That was how the whole church was put into commotion and every one was shouting. It was later understood that the girl has other two boy friends who sleep with her and it was one of them that impregnate her and that she did not like the guy that is why she have to continue with the wedding plan. I also learn that the babe has been troubling the husband to be to let them do it but the guy insist on no sex before marriage. Now who is to blame? Is it the guy who insist on no sex before marriage or the girl who went out to receive communion from someone else or the church because I believe there suppose to be marriage coaching in the church where issues like this is being ironed out before wedding. |

Which kind useless bride be dis? I am very happy for that guy. God saved him. He would have been tricked into caring for another man's child thinking he was the father. Sad. Should we be doing DNA tests every time our wives give birth? What is this world turning into? 1 Like |

The 3 both(sic) of them should be blamed. The church is supposed to conduct the pregnancy test before the D-day and have the result, not asking the couple for the result. As for the couple, they don't even have the right foundation for marriage. 1 Like |

Pregnancy tests (as a marriage prerequisite) demonstrates control of people, not faith in God. Pfft |

Flytefalls: Really? So you'd support your own brother to marry a woman without doing tests for the sake of not appearing to be under control? When did faith in God take the place of wisdom? |

the guy should thank is luck for delivering him out of this terrible predicament. Saved by the bell. If you know what it means to be taking care of other people's kids that are not biological yours but you think they are all due to the stupidity/selfishness/wickedness of the woman in question then you would appreciate the church. This reminds me of the Trisha Goddard Show (Tricia) |

this church in question has too many principles abt singles n marriage matter, plus their clergies are somehow corrupt too.. the church shud try n follow d bible not enforcing their own standard, thereby driving their youth in major atrocities. in as much as I know d girl is wrong, the church will b making a bigger mistake too if they wed or not. for whom to be blame? I will say THE CHURCH! ( Assemblies of God) . |

I doubt the story is true. The couple would know if their church requires a pregnancy test or not and not be caught by surprise. But for the fun off it, I will answer. The girl cheated on her fiancé and what is even worse is that she slept with other guy(s) without protecting herself and her fiancé. She is to blame for that the wedding was cancelled eventually. Now, I would like someone to tell me why the heck a church wants a pregnancy test. |

LordReed: Erm, I'm not 100% sure I know what you're alluding to but I'll share some thoughts. I shouldn't feel the need to manage my grown-enough-to-get-married brother's life and impending marriage. This is my point, you can educate the people you love with the facts of life, no problem. But these tests should remain between the couple, to be 'produced' only to each other. Nobody else needs to know; those who do are simply nosy and interfering. The church should encourage testing and honesty, but if faith in God means producing proof then we've skipped a beat, no? A man who doesn't question (or is blind to) his gf/wife's questionable lifestyle will learn his lesson in the end, and perhaps he wouldn't feel so disgruntled about it were it not for the external outrage he'd be surrounded by because now everybody knows his business . Let people handle their own sh!!!!t, damn. |
