The Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) was yesterday directed
by the House of Representatives after
passing a resolution to allow Nigerians
eligible to use their temporary voters’ card
in February polls.
According to the honourable members, this
step became necessary due to the fact that
a lot of Nigerians are yet to get their
Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) and many
may not be allowed to perform their civic
right as long as the commission insists on
PVCs during the polls.

The House also resolved to look into the
issue of a political party hacking into
INEC’s database as alleged recently by the
Department of State Security (SSS) in which
it stated that the All Progressive Congress
(APC) was planning to hack into INECs data
base in other to increase the party’s
membership and influence vote.

Also,it was resolved by the House to set up
a high powered committee to investigate
the issue and report its findings back to the
House in two weeks.
The resolutions were made following two
different motions moved by the Minority
Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila and Deputy
Leader, Leo Ogor.

I most commend those members who turned up for such session as many are seriously involve in various campaigns. Government should declare some days work free day to enable all to collect theirs. Private firms should conform to this directive too. That will enable good numbers get their PVC instead of going back to the TVC.
