Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra, on Wednesday, paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano.

NAN gathered that Obiano, who would be handing over the mantle of leadership of the state to his successor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on March 17, was on a farewell visit to the president.

Suspected gunmen, on Monday, killed one person, burnt a Baptist Church and abducted many students in preparatory class for their final year examinations in Damba-Kasaya village, Chikun LGA, Kaduna State.

A resident in the area, Musa Ademu said the gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on motorcycles, invaded Damba-Kasaya village, abducted many students, and burnt down a Baptist Church with its musical instruments

Another resident in the area, who do not want his name in print, told DAILYPOST Monday evening that the gunmen, who killed one person and abducted many of the villagers, later stormed popular Prince Academy in the village to abduct Junior Secondary School (JSS3) students receiving lessons preparatory to their final exams.

“The bandits came in large numbers like they always do and were shooting sporadically.

“Besides, the bandits also destroyed the musical and public address system worth thousands of naira in Aminchi Baptist Church, located in the community.

“They abducted many people in the village. Then they went to Prince Academy and abducted many of the students who were receiving lessons for their JSS3 exams.

“I cannot say how many people were kidnapped but they went away with many people.

“Soldiers who came to their rescue, turned back after some few kilometres, leaving some of the villagers who accompanied them to rescue the victims.

“The villagers, not knowing that the soldiers had withdrawn, kept pursuing the bandits in the bush, the bandits fired at them and one person was killed,” he said.

Kaduna State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Muhammad Jalige could not pick his calls to confirm the incident.

Elijah Oyewale O is an Ibadan Police officer. He was reported to have illegally arrested a lady and as a result of that collected a sum of N10,000 from her.

He extorted the lady whose name was recognised as miss Omowumi for no genuine reason saying she was not dressed properly.

Also according to reports, the lady was arrested at the area called New Akala Express Way in Ibadan, in front of Taska Filling Station.

Tge lady narrated that the arrest took place while she was waiting for her Uber Driver to come pick her up. While she was waiting, some police officers approached her and started shouting that she wasn’t properly dressed. They even went as far as raising their guns. See what she wore.

Then, this lady got bundled into their vehicle and she was being threatened by the police before they drove off.

At the end, she was forced to transfer a sum of N10,000 to one of the officer’s bank account. The initial amount she was told to transform was N20,000 but then she bargained with them and they agreed to collect N10,000.

She was then released by the Policemen to get out of their vehicle after she has transferred the money to them.

Omowunmi, couldn’t withstand this humiliation and emotional trauma she suffered in the hands of this Ibadan policemen. So, she had to take this matter to social media to seek for justice.

The federal government has threatened to impose a fresh lockdown in another two weeks.

This follows the increasing rate of COVID-19 cases in the country, especially among people in authority.

Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, on Monday lamented that it was directly affecting governance and security in the country.

Mustapha, speaking at the task force press briefing in Abuja, admitted the possibility of ordering a fresh total lockdown to curtail further spread of the virus.

He, however, said events of coming weeks would determine the next line of action.

“We will not speculate on what will happen in future, but we will protect the lives of Nigerians.

“To achieve that, if it means to lock down again, we will not shy away from that responsibility.

“We will recommend to the President who will look at the report and take a decision on our recommendation. What happens in the next two three weeks will determine what we will do,” Mustapha said.

Mustapha’s warning comes after Governors David Umahi of Ebonyi, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, recently contracted the virus.

Oregano oil, or origanum oil, has been shown to inhibit the growth of candida albicans. To use oregano oil, use a couple of drops in a carrier agent, like coconut oil or olive oil, and apply to the affected area.


9. Probiotics

Probiotics contain live bacteria, such as the bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus, which helps foster a healthy balance of bacterias in the vagina. They may treat or prevent bacterial vaginosis and urinary tract infections in addition to yeast infections.

However, like many natural remedies, there is a lack of evidence that probiotics cure yeast infections. Researchers are still studying probiotics for yeast infections, but many doctors recommend taking one whenever an antibiotic is prescribed, as yeast infections are a possible side effect of antibiotics.


10. Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil is an essential oil with antifungal properties, that some people claim to cure yeast infections. It works by killing the cell walls and membranes of the yeast. While more studies are currently needed, a 2015 study found that vaginal suppositories containing tea tree oil were able to work as a fungicidal agent thereby killing the candida albicans.

As with all essential oils, use a few drops of tea tree oil with a carrier oil when using it on the body. Women can purchase vaginal suppositories with tea tree oil online.


11. Vitamin C

Vitamin C boosts the body’s immunity and, with a strengthened immune system, the body is able to fight off a yeast infection better. Add more vitamin C by taking a supplement or eating vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables like oranges and broccoli.


12. Yogurt

Yogurt (with live and active cultures) is a good way to treat yeast infections because of its high probiotic concentrate. As mentioned above, probiotics can help fight off candida albicans. While eating yogurt with probiotics can improve yeast infections, some women even find relief in soaking a tampon in yogurt and inserting it vaginally, remembering to change it frequently. With this technique only use plain, unsweetened yogurt or unsweetened Greek yogurt. Yogurt containing sugar would help the candida grow and flourish.

The social media mammoth isn’t giving much notice either, the move is effective from 26th September.

The Social Network only recently announced the addition of a multi-contributor Stories option for public figures, and now it’s followed that new feature up by removing 'Group Stories' functionality. That enabled Facebook group members to be a part of a Story that was common to the whole group.

Facebook made the announcement last week: "On September 26th, we will be sunsetting group stories. At that point, no new group stories can be posted, and existing group stories will be deleted. Members and admins can continue to use stories from their personal profile or make a post in the group to share moments from their lives."

The reason for the rather hurried withdrawal of service isn’t completely clear. The feature was only rolled out fully as recently as October 2018, and while the move provided users with added functionality, maintaining groups became harder work for admins. Just before that roll-out, Facebook granted admins the power to mute or block members who spammed or posted irrelevant content in group Stories. They were also given the ability to delete or report any contributions they deemed inappropriate.

As soon as September 26th happens, that’s that. Facebook tells us that archived group Stories will be viewable after the deadline, but users won’t be able to share them. Any admin-queued items will also be deleted at that time. While it seems evident that for admins, the added functionality of group Stories brought a whole bunch of hassle they didn’t want, the dramatic withdrawal of the feature could well point to something else going on behind the scenes. Nobody knows right now, and perhaps we never will know. All we can be sure of is that group Stories is disappearing in a hurry, soon.

The cynics among us may well point to this move as being a sign that everything with Stories is not as rosy as Facebook would have us believe. The figures tend to say different, however – Facebook group Stories is on the rise and it might be a bit of a leap to suggest that the withdrawal of one small element of the feature spells doom. Opening up a group story and permitting various actors to add any content they wished to add could just have been a step too far, given the nature of the internet and the time-consuming nature of moderating and administering a group with an open forum.

It’s worth a heads-up at this point to any of you guys that developed strategies to engage via the group Stories feature. Come Thursday, it will be no more, so you had better get back to the drawing board!

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines July 5 (PIA) - The returning Filipinos who arrived Sunday in the city from Sabah in Malaysia say they are thankful they are finally home after their travel was organized by the government.

Junjun (not his real name) left the Philippines in 2018, hoping for greener pasture in Malaysia, but was arrested due to lack of proper documents.

"Napreso kami dun," he said. (We were sent to prison.)

Junjun said he knew the risks but still left. He worked for a while in a logging company, but was arrested by Malaysian authorities after having been discovered to lack documents.

Junjun does not want to return to Malaysia after the difficulties he encountered, and is looking to the Philippine government to provide opportunities at home.

"Yun yung kailangan namin, ayaw na naming bumalik ang hirap doon," he said. (That is what we need, we do not want to return, it is very difficult there.)

Junjun said he returned home practically without a single cent in his pocket. His experience is a commonality shared by the returning Filipinos who arrived on Sunday.

In a press briefing on Sunday morning, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Director Fatima Caminan said the government has put in place livelihood measures for returning Filipinos.

"We would like our returning Filipinos to stay in the Philippines and access the programs of government so they won't have to be forced to go back and look for livelihood in difficult situations," Director Caminan said.

A total of 395 returning Filipinos were able to ride on this first trip, according to official data. The boat stopped over Bongao, Tawi-Tawi where some 298 passengers disembarked. The remaining 97 are composed of 13 from Zamboanga City, 3 from Zamboanga Sibugay, 5 from Zamboanga del Sur, 8 from Zamboanga del Norte, 16 from Basilan, 36 from Sulu, 1 from Mapun, Tawi-Tawi and 15 from other regions. The DSWD said it will will ferry the non-Zamboanga City passengers to their respective provinces, while the Zamboanga City-based returning Filipinos will still be subjected to quarantine in an isolation facility.

Meanwhile, returnees from Sulu, Basilan and the one from Mapun who cannot immediately go home due to unavailability of boat trips will temporarily stay at the DSWD Center in barangay Talon-Talon, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) regional director and Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (RDRRMC) chairperson Manuel Luis Ochotorena said Sunday. The REFs were provided with cash assistance, travel allowances, meals and family food packs provided by the DSWD and Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go's office.

An approximate 5,300 returning Filipinos will return from Sabah in the coming months, said Director Ochotorena. Batches composed of up to 395 persons will arrive in 15-day intervals, and all will be subject to rapid testing for COVID-19, he added. "If they tested positive, they will not be allowed to board," he emphasized.

The 43-year-old Billionaire rapper made the announcement on Saturday night, July 4, via his official Twitter account.
