It was disheartening watching a whole Enyimba beaten blue and black by U-20. Our league(s) has a long way to go.

Awoniyi scored one goal and assisted one goal. The score was 2-1, flying eagles won, could have been 3-1 but the flying eagles Eze Chidiebere missed a penalty. Can't remember who scored flying eagles's second goal.

FLYING EAGLES 2-1 KANO PILLARS

Flying Eagles are living up to the tag of favourites at the LMC Super 4 after the team defeated Kano Pillars 2-1 at the Abuja National Stadium on Monday.

The U20 national team had earlier beaten Enyimba 2-0 in the first match played on Saturday and they didn’t waste time in adding Pillars to their list of vanquished teams as they achieved the result even with a missed penalty kick in the second half.

Sai Masugida saw the net first in the 19th minute after Gambo Mohammed's well laid pass was connected home by new signing, Christian Obiozor but the strike was correctly canceled by the centre referee for offside.

The Flying Eagles swung into action almost immediately and their ceaseless incursions into the vital area of Pillars yielded dividends in the 22nd minute when they got the first goal of the game through Suleiman Abdullahi who beautifully dispatched into the bottom right corner a low cross from Taiwo Awoniyi drilled into Pillars’ 18 yard box.

The opening goal scored by the U20 team brought out the best in Pillars and they retaliated with unwary pressure of their own and this led to the equalizer in the 32nd minute when Flying Eagles’ captain, Musa Mohammed nodded into the his side’s net while trying to give goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo a back pass.

Sai Masugida didn’t celebrate the goal for long before they were pegged back again when Flying Eagles’ inspirational striker, Taiwo Awoniyi curled a cracking shot into the net with Pillars captain, Theophilus Afelokhai left stranded barely two minutes after his side’s equalizing goal.

The national U20 side had numerous chances to further put Pillars to the sword in the second half including a penalty kick in the 64th minute but they frittered away all the chances. Afelokhai saved the spot kick of Chidera Ezeh who was a second half substitute.

ENYIMBA FC 1-0 WARRI WOLVES

Enyimba exhibited rescillience as they fired themselves back into reckoning in the LMC Super 4 after they secured their first win of the tournament with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Warri Wolves.

Both clubs used the opportunity to test some of their newly recruited players and it paid off with many of the new players distinguishing themselves and having a memorable game that would be hard for them to forget in a hurry.

The People’s Elephant got the match-winner through the penalty kick scored by Ifeanyi George in the 15th minute as the new player aimed planted his well struck kick at the bottom of middle of the post with Wolves’ goalie, Daniel Akpeyi left stranded.

According to reports monitored from the venue of the game, Wolves’ Emmanuel Omodiagbe, Kufre Ebong and Semiu Liadi were very outstanding for the Seasiders while Enyimba also had few players that shone brilliantly during the said tie.

DREAM TEAM VI 1-0 DOLPHINS

Dream Team VI also bagged their second consecutive win of the LMC Super 4 after the coach Fatai Amoo tutored side defeated Dolphins 1-0 after a howler from Port Harcourt side’s goalkeeper, Sunday Rotimi in the 61st minute handed a simple tap in goal to Newman Doubra.

Dolphins came into the second match with the mindset to bounce back from the opening day loss to Kano Pillars and they did play brilliantly and better than it was against Pillars but the gaffe from Rotimi handed crucial points to the national U23 team in Abuja.

National U23 side are second on the log with six points from two matches by virtue of their lesser goals while the Flying Eagles are in the driver’s seat with six points and better goals difference

FLYING EAGLES 1-0 WARRI WOLVES

LMC Super Four favourites, Flying Eagles continued with their impressive form in the tournament with another vital 1-0 win over Warri Wolves at the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday afternoon for their third straight victory since the tourney started on Saturday.

Manu Garba made four changes to the side that defeated Kano Pillars on Monday with Joshua Enahoro taking the place of Olorunleke Ojo and Abdullahi Alfa in place of injured Izu Omego while Prince Aggrey and Chiderah Ezeh were Seasiders played a very good game and they didn’t allow hitherto dominant Flying Eagles to boss possession especially in the first half.

Warri Wolves with Okeimute Odah, Michael Okoyoh, Semiu Liadi and Joseph Osadaiye curtailed the dashing runs of the national U20 sides and with their robust rough tackles, the Flying Eagles were for once made to stay in their half for most part of the first half.

On the resumption of the second half, Garba’s half time pep talk yielded dividends as the U-20 found a way out of none to race into the lead with barely two minutes to the start of the second half and the goal was a powerful flying header courtesy Flying Eagles’ skipper, Musa Mohammed who made amends for his own goal scored in the last match against Pillars.

The tempo of the game slowed down on the part of the U20 side in the second half especially after the goal with Warri Wolves in ascendancy and even led possessions again but poor marksmanship robbed them of the much desired equalizer.

Flying Eagles are on top with nine points from three games with U23 national team in second spot with seven points while Enyimba, Pillars, Warri Wolves and Dolphins are third, fourth, fifth and sixth in that order with six points, four points and no points.

ENYIMBA FC 1-0 DOLPHINS FC

Enyimba FC on Wednesday at the Abuja National Stadium again pinned Dolphins 1-0 to record their second straight triumph of the ongoing LMC Super Four after the opening day 0-2 loss to the Flying Eagles.

The People’s Elephant scored the only goal of the match inside the opening 15 minutes through Chinonso Okonkwo and the Aba Millionaires repelled all the attempts by the Port Harcourt side to even the tie.

Enyimba are now third on the log with six points and they are behind the Flying Eagles and the national U23 sides.

Dolphins and Enyimba however ended the match with a man less after Joseph Douhadji of Dolphins and Aba giants’, Ugwu Uwadiegwu got the matching orders for second bookable offences.

The Port Harcourt side have now lost all the three matches played thus far after earlier losses to Flying Eagles and the U23 team.

DREAM TEAM V1 1-1 KANO PILLARS

Premier league defending champions have halted the winning run of the national U-23 side after the Okey Emordi tutored Sai Masugida held the Dream Team V1 to a 1-1 draw at the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Christian Obiozor recorded his second goal in three games for Pillars after the opened the scoreline in the 31st minute from a rebound after the U-23 goalkeeper, Jonah Usman failed to deal with Adamu Hassan’s close range shot.

The Dream Team V1 however restored parity in the 68th minute from the penalty spot after Adamu Yahaya who was fouled in the vital area by Pillars’ Eneji Otekpa, dusted himself up and slotted the ball beyond the reach of Sai Masugida goaltender.

With the draw, Dream Team V1 retained second spot with seven points from three games while Pillars fell to fourth position with four points from three games.

Flying Eagles 4-1 Dolphins

Manu Garba’s lads put up a commanding display to silence the Pride of Port Harcourt down to emerge as the pre-season tournament champions with a game to spare

Nigeria U-20 emerged champion of the NPFL Super Four tournament after defeating Dolphins 4-1 in their fourth game played on Friday afternoon at the National Stadium, Abuja.

Goals from Taiwo Awoniyi, Chidera Eze and Bernard Bulbwa were all the Flying Eagles needed to silence the Nigeria Premier League outfit.

Awoniyi gave Manu Garba’s side the lead after 24 minutes off a pass from Obinna Nwobodo.

The Flying Eagles extend their lead in the 42nd minute through an own goal by Dolphins defender Jonathan Zikiye off a desperate clearance by Victor Ezuruike before going three goals up seven minutes later through Bulbwa.

Christain Pyagbara reduced the deficit for Dolphins four minutes on restart of the second half. Ezeruike and Tijjani Adamu were given the marching order within two minutes for dangerous play.

In the 82nd minute, substitute Musa Yahaya saw his shot come off the crossbar with the Dolphins goalkeeper well beaten.

The Flying Eagles continued to attack their opponents before they grabbed a deserved fourth goal through substitute Eze.

The final day of matches will be played on Sunday with Flying Eagles taking on Dream Team in a match that is of mere formality for the Nigeria U-20 team.

Warri Wolves 3-1 Kano Pillars

Warri Wolves replied critics at the ongoing Super Four tournament in Abuja as they secured their first win with a 3-1 thumping of Kano Pillars at the Abuja National Stadium on Friday afternoon.

The disparaged Seasiders had lost their first three games to Enyimba, Dream Team VI and the Flying Eagles but they were in superb form against the premier league defending champions with a brace from Sikiru Adewale leading the charge

Unsung Adewale began the victory party in the 13th minute when he converted a close range effort after team mate, Emmanuel Omodiagbe gave him a cut back in the Sai Masugida 18 yard box and he added the second goal of the 21 minutes later after Dimgba assisted him with the smportant touch leading to the strike.

Pillars woke up from their slumber in the 41st minute through their unarguably best player of the tournament, Christian Obiozor who netted his third goal of the tournament but his side’s first goal of the tie with Wolves.

Paul Aigbogun’s men went into the halftime break with a 2-1 lead and they increased the tally in the 53rd minute courtesy of Bartholomew Ibenegbu’s goal.

Ibenegbu reacted positively to the inviting cross from Dimgba for his side’s third goal of the match.

Pillars strove to reduce the tally but they met a formidable team in Wolves who were not ready to relinquish their lead as they sought to redeem their image even with only two games to the end of the tournament.

Wolves have bagged first points of the tournament and they have joined other participants besides Dolphins who were yet to claim any point after their initial three games.

The Seasiders will have another chance to improve their points haul on Sunday when they tackle Dolphins in their final game.

Enyimba FC 1 vs 1 Nigeria U-23

Enyimba FC forced Nigeria U-23 team to a 1-1 draw on Friday at the Super Four Tournament played on Friday afternoon in Abuja.
The People’s Elephant got the curtain raiser in the 33rd minute through Andrew Abalogu who only returned to the side after some time out owing to ankle injury before the Dream Team equalized in the 56th minute after the Aba giants’ goalkeeper, Moses Ocheje couldn’t connect a back pass as substitute Jonathan Osondu capitalized.

Abalogu former player of ABS made effective use of the pass from Ebenezer Odeyemi after the ex-Kogi United striker controlled a cross from Markson Ojobo inside the U-23 18 yard box and then laid it for Abalogu who had the easiest task of rolling it into an unguarded net.

Enyimba almost scored a second goal some minutes after the first but Chinonso Okonkwo’s tailored cross rolled across the face of goal as it was too much for Abalogu to connect but the People’s Elephant were in the ascendancy till the end of the first half.

The Dream Team VI however evened scores in the 56th minute after Ocheje dilly dallied over a back pass and he allowed Osondu to pounce for the equalizer.

The U-23 team got a rude shock towards the end of the first half when their striker, Austin Amutu had to be replaced by Osondu after the Warri Wolves’ pointman got an hamstring injury but the Coach Fatai Amoo tutored side battled on without the player and eventually came back in the second half.

Just like their last game where they played some part of the game to red card offence, Enyimba’s Ifeanyi Anaemena was shown a straight red card for an off the ball incident but the Aba Millionaires did not allow that to dampen their morale as they held on for a share of the spoils.

Enyimba are third on the log with seven points while Dream Team VI are second with eight points.
