The All Progressives Congress, APC, has strongly condemned the reported stoning of the campaign convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan in Katsina State on Tuesday, saying violence of any kind is totally unacceptable to the party.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the party said President Jonathan should be free to campaign anywhere in the country without hindrance.
It said even though the attack on the President’s convoy took place a day after the provocative death-wish-for-Buhari newspaper advertorial that was put out in the name of the President, nothing justifies the stoning of the President’s convoy anywhere in the country.
APC restated its commitment to a continuous enlightenment of its members and supporters to eschew violence before, during and after next month’s general elections, and urged other parties to follow suit.
”We consider election as a celebration of democracy, not a do-or-die affair. Whether or not one agrees with the campaign message of any party, engaging in violence negates the very essence of democracy and should be condemned by all,” the party said.

Seems the peace accord both party did sign is being violated upon by some disgruntled members of the public to cause commotion btw both parties.

We the youth are not ready for violence but a smooth transition of power

i have always known the peace accord signed was mere formality because when violence erupts, people will start blaming each other and this is just what happens when few people are hell bent on causing commotion.in this country

but apc coming out to condemn it is a welcome development sha

I was surprised when such a document called peace pact was signed because I knew Buhari himself doesn't believe in that. As he's worshipped by his followers, why don't they honour the accord? The answer is simple - Buhari doesn't honour such agreement.

he might mean well u never can tell but some hoodlums will always like to hijack things like this in order to cause trouble

have u ever given it a thought that Buhari too might probably b attacked in the south or east.. I'm just happy for one thing it was Jonathan that was first attacked but if it were the people's general that was the first, I'm very sure apc would have made a mountain out of it

the kinds of gibberish coming out of the gutters that fani kayode and ayo fayoshe call mouths is even worse than the worst form of violence. give fani kayode food, and he will sing your name to the heavens.

The PDP will accept this condemnation even though it is the hand of Esau (katsina thugs) but the Voice of Jacob speaking but Oga Lie Mohammed will reject PDP's condemnation of Fayose advert.....simply because Jonathan is gentle, peace loving and democratic.

Noted. It is civil disobedience by a group of ppl who feel that the government they voted for is not being responsible, terrorists killed scores of ppl at a motor park and the president went to dance at a rally the next day, what do you expect. Though condemnable, civil disobedience is very much a part of democracy, we saw it in Hong Kong, even in the U.S.

Why fucking call them animals?

There isn't any excuse for violence but only extreme deprivation pushes human beings to react the way they've reacted

Imagine this arm of the Egyptian Brotherhood party in Nigeria condemning what their party faithful watched as it was being meted out.

The condemnation came rather too late and we've been consoled before the condemnation came.

Let no party cry foul soonest.
